Since the Meiji era, many literary giants have lived in Atami, where they have written masterpieces.
Among them, the most famous is the novel "The golden demon(Konjiki Yasha)" by Koyo Ozaki, which was published intermittently in the "Yomiuri Shimbun" and "New Novels" for six years from the 30th year of Meiji 30.
The song "Omiya pine tree" named after this novel and the song that begins with "Walking on the coast of Atami..." became one and spread explosively, and the main character "Kan'ichi and Omiya" became a presence that captured the hearts of the people as if he were a real person.
The "Kan'ichi and Omiya Statue" and "Omiya pine tree" are located along the national highway on the coast and are visited by many people as tourist photo spots.
Every year on January 17 (Kanichi Omiya, Crying Farewell Day), the "Ozaki Autumn Leaves Festival" is held at this place.

Jukoku Pass
It is said that the Jukoku Pass got its name because it saw ten countries (Izu, Sagami, Suruga, Totoumi, Kai, Awa, Kazusa, Shimousa, Musashi, Shinano and Goto< Oshima, Niijima, Kozushima, Miyakejima, and Toshima >). From the top of Mt. Nichikane, you can see Mt. Fuji to the north, Suruga Bay to the west, and Sagami Bay to the east.
It seems that there have been many people who have tried to paint this vision with a paintbrush for a long time, but it is said that they could not stand the size and beauty of this project.
There is a cable car ride to the top of the mountain and back. It is about one and a half hours from Himenosawa Park, and you can also visit it by trekking while enjoying nature.
Azaleas are in full bloom in spring, a cool breeze blows in summer, ripple pampas grass ears flutter in autumn, and warm plateau sunshine welcomes you in winter.

Atami Ginza Shopping Street
Ginza Street in Atami was once crowded with many tourists as the center of Atami.
Use the Atami Chamber of Commerce and Industry in a building that operated as a bank until 1975. The heavy and retro building retains the atmosphere of that time.
When you walk along the Ginza shopping street, you will encounter the same Japanese scenery as in the past, such as Dried fish hanging from the eaves, coffee shops that continue to operate as they were in the Showa era, and traditional Japanese confectionery stores.
Recently, restaurants that are popular for seafood, cafes using local ingredients, sweets shops such as "Atami Pudding", Matcha "Atami Satori Honten", luxury Montblanc "Raw Silk Kiito", gelato, and guesthouses that offer interaction between locals and travelers have also opened, making it a street where you can feel the renovation.

Hashiriyu
The "Hashiriyu" facing the sea of Sagami is a rare side-hole type hot spring in Japan, and is one of the three major ancient springs in Japan.
It was discovered about 1,300 years ago, and was named "Hashiriyu" because of the way the hot water gushed out from the mountains and ran down to the coast as if it were flying.
As Minamoto no Sanetomo sang, "The early arrival of the hot spring in the south of Izu no Kuniyama is a sign of the gods," before the Meiji era, it was worshipped as a sacred hot spring at Izuyama Shrine.
The 5-meter-deep cave still gushes out 170 liters of 70-degree hot water per minute, and the source is a mysterious sight.
