[Shirataki Ruins Excavated Items] was designated as Japan's oldest national treasure on June 27!
It is the second national treasure designated in Hokkaido.
1,965 items such as weapons such as spears and knives made using "obsidian" by people 15,000~30,000 years ago in the Upper Paleolithic are national treasures.
National treasures can be seen in "Engaru TownCenter for Buried Cultural Properties".

Experience the winter form of Yamabiko Falls, a sight shaped by nature—see it for yourself.
Event dates: Sunday, January 18th, 2026 (Application deadline: January 8th)

Eligibility: Elementary school students and older (Each day limited to 30 participants; minimum number to hold the event: 5)

"The 40th Anniversary Yubetsu Primeval Field Okhotsk Cross-Country Skiing Tournament"
Scheduled for Sunday, February 22, 2026!
This cross-country skiing event takes place across the Yubetsu Primeval Field, spanning Engaru Town and Yubetsu Town in Hokkaido's Okhotsk region.
Courses range from the longest 80 km Yubetsu Primeval Field Course, which winds through vast natural scenery, to a beginner-friendly 5 km course, welcoming participants of all ages from adults to children.

To commemorate the Held in of the exhibition "National Treasures of the Northern Great Earth: Thoughts of People Beyond Time", which is currently Held in in Engaru Buried Cultural Property Center, we will Held in "National Treasures of the Northern Great Earth market".

Applications for the Popular Obsidian Geotour 2025 are now open.
Course There are two Course: the "Hachigosawa Outcrop Course," a huge obsidian outcrop that spreads out in front of you, and the "Akaishiyama Summit Course," where you can see the reddish obsidian, which is a characteristic of obsidian in the Shirataki area, at the summit plaza, as the name "Akaishi Mountain" suggests.
You can enjoy lunch at a Local farmhouse restaurant at the "Hachizawa Outcrop Course" and the Sweets of the Local café at the "Akaishiyama Summit Course", and on both tours, you can Visiting the site the Engaru Buried Cultural Property Center exhibiting the national treasure "Hokkaido Shirataki Archaeological Site Excavation".
