Hello, this is Waraji, a local Koshu cuisine restaurant. Even though the rainy season hasn’t officially ended, hot days keep coming one after another. Since more rainy days are expected, please watch your step when visiting Shosenkyo Gorge.
Our original Waraji summer-only menu item, Three-Color Somen, has started again this year!
The plum, egg, and matcha flavors whet the appetite, and the firm texture and smooth, slippery finish of the noodles are superb.
The crispy tempura and the light, juicy char grilled iwana (Japanese char) that come with the somen are Waraji’s recommended specialties.
Please enjoy the Three-Color Somen, which you can eat in a single, refreshing slurp.

Hello, I’m Gen 👋 In June, when fresh green leaves appear, many visitors enjoy the gorge’s scenic beauty from the riverside promenade at Shosenkyo Gorge.
The standard trekking route is an out-and-back of about 6 kilometers‼️ (Duration: about 1 hour 30 minutes).
Starting from Nagatoro Bridge, the gateway to Shosenkyo Gorge, you walk along while admiring the strange rock formations and soon reach Tenkorin, a prefectural natural monument.
If you continue along the riverside promenade, you will arrive at Yume no Matsushima.
*This is a photo spot with a view of Kakuembou* 📸
If you go further, you’ll find the huge natural arch stone gate, and after about a 500-meter walk you’ll come upon the dramatic Senga Falls!
Before the rainy season begins, take your time strolling the promenade and enjoy the seasonal scenery‼️

Hello everyone! This is En'uemon Folklore Museum. Shosenkyo Gorge has entered the fresh green season.
A pleasant breeze that hints at early summer slips through the trees.
It’s a perfect time for a stroll♪
Big news! A new home has been found for the golden frog that used to sit in front of the shop. It was only at the shop for a short time and in just a few days became a legendary frog.
A little early, but here is a look at June’s birthstone, alexandrite♪
Alexandrite is said to change color between night and day.
Seeing the purple hue under indoor lighting and the blue tone in sunlight in person is even more moving.
Please drop by while you’re out for a walk♪
