Yew oak in Kiyokawa Towns, Bungo-Ono City, Oita Prefecture, Kyushu.
The yew oak is Located in in the mountains of Kiyokawa Towns.
It is a huge tree that has existed for hundreds of years.
There are a huge yew oak tree at the back of the forest road leading to Ontake in Kiyokawa Towns, Bungo-Ono City.
The total height is 12 m, and the trunk circumference is 10 m.
There is a cavity in the center of the trunk, and a Shrine is enshrined inside.
It is also designated as a special protection tree in Oita Prefecture.
When you actually see it, you will be overwhelmed by its appearance.

【Mt. Ontake】
Mt. Ontake is located in Kiyokawa Towns, Bungo-Ono City, Oita Prefecture, Kyushu.
Mt. Ontake is a mountain with an Elevation of 568 m. The view from the top of the mountain is amazing, and you can overlook Bungo Ono.
From the top of the mountain, you can see the Ono Mountains from Mt. Tilt, Mt. Aso Mountain, and the Kuju mountain range.
The rocks at the summit are rocks called cherts, which are solidified plankton deposited on the seabed of the Pacific Ocean, and are swept up to the Japan archipelago by the movement of plates.
After passing through the Torii (shrine gate) and climbing the gentle stone steps for 10 minutes, the Mitake Shrine, which is said to have been founded in 1449, and It is also one of the birthplace of Ontake Kagura.
The Iwayama (rocky mountain) behind the Shrine is called "Immortal Island" and is considered a sacred place.

【Sugao Magaibutsu】
Sugao Magaibutsu is located in Bungo-Ono City Mie, Kyushu, Oita Prefecture.
Sugao Magaibutsu is a group of five Magaibutsu Buddhas created in the late Heian period.
It is carved into the molten tuff of the Aso pyroclastic flow about 90,000 years ago. Compared to the wooden Buddha statues in Kyoto and Nara, it is designated as a National Important Cultural Property because it is very beautiful and skillfully carved.
It is one of the most Representative Many Magaibutsu in Bungo-Ono City.
There are steep stone steps and steep slopes to Sugao Magaibutsu. Please be careful with your step.

【Harajiri Falls】

"Sugao Stone Buddha Fire Festival"
It is a Festival that will be Held in in Bungo-Ono City Mie in Kyushu and Oita Prefecture in August.
It is a festival that is mainly Held in by local people, so it is not available on a large scale, but it is a heartwarming festival.
At the beginning of the Festival, Shinto ritual Buddhist rituals are performed.
Legend has it that the Sugao Magaibutsu Buddha was carved by a demon, and everyone wants to thank the demon, so at the Festival, the demon also appears and the organizer hands out a letter of appreciation.
In the "Croaking Imitation Contest," which is named after the legend, participants perform their own imitations of the croaks of the crooks, and the venue is full of smiles.
Stage Events include the magnificent Drums and Kagura dances of the Hoyu Society.
In the second half of the Festival, many children take on the challenge of throwing a lit torch into a 3-meter-high pillar pine tree from below to ignite it.

The Kawakami Valleys is the uppermost part of the Okudake River in Clear streams, and Valleys stream from near the ridgeline of the Grandmother and Leaning Mountains.

Komatsumei (Kodai) Fire Festival

It is a traditional event that has been handed down since the Edo period.
The Origin is uncertain, but it is said to be for the memorial service of the Bon Festival, the insect chasing event to wish for a good harvest of Rice, and the memorial service for the victims of the putsch that occurred in the Edo period.
