Autumn appetites!
Savor kinmedai and Ise lobster caught in the seas around Shimoda (^○^)
This time I tagged along for a shoot with the Shimoda Kaikoku Museum.
A video will be posted soon on the Shimoda Kaikoku Museum YouTube channel (\(^o^)/).
Please look forward to it!
The shoot took place at Senmisho Ryoma, a five-minute walk from Izukyu-Shimoda Station.
The chef’s handwork I watched across the counter was nothing short of divine!
Kinmedai are landed year-round, but their flavor changes with the seasons.
Ise lobster is available only in autumn and winter! The Ise lobster season is now in full swing!
Both are luxury ingredients—be sure to taste these seasonal flavors while you can!
You can enjoy them at restaurants and accommodations in the city.

Screening Notice for the Film “Here, Alive. – Guided by the Disappearing Seaweed Forests”
We will screen the film “Here, Alive. – Guided by the Disappearing Seaweed Forests.”
This film asks how we should relate to the sea as seaweed forests are rapidly disappearing across the country.
The theme is deeply connected to washoku (Japanese cuisine) culture and marine ecosystems.
Please take this opportunity to reflect with us on the sea, the environment, and daily life through the film.

Shimoda Brewing Company opened this spring about a five-minute walk from Izukyu-Shimoda Station (●´ω`●).
The brewery is located inside the taproom, so you can enjoy freshly brewed craft beer on the spot—
a luxurious moment in Shimoda.🍺✨
In summer, of course, you can savor it casually; on long autumn nights you can savor its depth, and in the dry winter air a refreshing pint will hit the spot.♬
Beers enjoyed with the seasons each have their own character.
For my craft beer debut that day, I chose “SUNSET,” which has the lowest IBU (bitterness rating).
Its light, crisp profile was perfect for a first glass.
Next time, I’m looking forward to deliberately trying a beer with a higher IBU.
Tasting different beers each season feels like a way to discover the depth of beer.
Inside the venue there are a counter, tables, and a deck.
If you like beer, please drop by (^^)!

Yesterday (September 9), we replanted daffodil bulbs at Cape Tsumeki, a scenic spot in Shimoda City.
Daffodils bloom in winter, and Shimoda City holds its Daffodil Festival from December 20 to January 31.
All the bulbs in the garden are dug up every June, and when summer ends the park management staff of Shimoda City replants the bulbs.
Although daffodils can bloom for several years without being replanted, we dig them up once to check the soil and buried bulbs so they will bloom beautifully.
About 15 people gathered to work today. We carried out the task with hopes that this year’s display will be even more beautiful. 😊
Imagining these bulbs sprouting, flowering, and turning the garden into a pure white sea of daffodils in three months makes me excited for the opening. ✨
Those who participated in the work included local residents of the Susaki area, Izu Kyuko Line, Shimoda Kaikoku Museum, ShimodaRopeway, Villa Ozawa (Tsumekizaki shop), Blue Tsumekizaki (Tsumekizaki shop), Shimoda City General Affairs Division, Tourism Exchange Division, Shimon Information Center, and Shimoda City Tourism Association.
Thank you to everyone who took part and worked hard under the hot sun. 😊
We will hand over to the park management staff so they can continue replanting many bulbs, hoping that many visitors will come to this year’s Daffodil Festival.
Thinking of the garden turning completely pure white, we look forward to seeing you in January!
*The photo of the fully blooming daffodil garden is an award-winning entry from last year’s photo contest.*

All ten of Shimoda’s beaches closed their swimming season on August 31. Thank you to everyone who visited this year.
After the season ends, designated swimming and surf zones disappear, and regulations such as "prohibited," "caution," or "permitted" no longer apply; lifeguards and beach patrols that were on duty at the bathing sites are withdrawn.
A water-accident advisory is also in effect. With hot days likely to continue, please take care of weather, water temperature, and wave conditions if you go swimming. Be equally careful around other bodies of water.
Even outside the official swimming season, you can still enjoy time by the sea as marine therapy.
For marine sports, there are experiences suitable for beginners, including sea kayaking, surf lessons, and diving.
Simply walking the shore and breathing the salt-tinged air can have the benefits of marine therapy.
Spread a sheet on the sand and relax while watching the sea or getting lost in a book.
As summer’s bustle fades, the autumn sea becomes clear and calm.
Shimoda’s sea is worth visiting even after the swimming season ends.✨
We look forward to seeing you (^o^)
