This video, titled "Reverse thrust on taxi way? JAL 747 Memorial #003 : 747-446D [JA8083] at CTS/RJCC : Landing," was released by "j-sky on YouTube." It's cool seeing the large aircraft land and go down the runway, but how does an airplane land and stop in the first place? After the aircraft lands it glides for a while, then slows down and comes to a stop. When an aircraft moves on the ground under its own power, it is called taxiing. In order for an aircraft to stop successfully, they choose a runway with a headwind or a system of reverse thrusters that directly thrust upward at an angle. So many different things go into the safe landing of an airplane. -

The Yatsuba Dam in Gunma Prefecture This video shows concrete being poured at the Yotsuba Damn in Gunma Prefecture. The Yatsuba Dam was originally planned in 1952 to protect Tokyo and the Tone River basin from floods caused by typhoons in the Agatsuma River, one of the major tributaries of the Tone River. However the project was abandoned due to water quality problems, lack of construction technology at the time, and anti-dam movements. After a long period of time to address these issues, construction of the dam began in 2015, and it was completed on March 31, 2020. The dam lake was named the "Yanba-Atsuma Lake" out of around 1,000 candidates from across the country. After years and years of waiting, the dam was finally completed. There's a roadside station and various tourist facilities around the Yatsuba Dam, so if you're in the area, be sure to stop by. -

The Nissan GT-R This video is a promotional video of Nissan's GT-R, titled "Nissan introduces GT-R in Hong Kong." It was published by Nissan. The video was produced to celebrate Nissan's introduction of the 2018 GT-R R35 to Hong Kong. Skyline GT-R is highly popular all around the world. This promotional video shows the excitement brought about by the arrival of the latest model, which many people admire, in Hong Kong. In this article, we will introduce the appeal of the Nissan Skyline GT-R alongside the video. The Skyline GT-R Photo:Nissan The Skyline GT-R is a luxury sports car produced and sold by Nissan. The GT-R is the highest grade of Skyline produced for racing. The one shown in the video is the R35 GT-R, which was introduced to Hong Kong starting with the 2018 model. Starting with the R35 model, the "Skyline" crown has been removed and it's now the "GT-R." It's an ultra-luxury car with a price tag of over ¥10 million (~$95,000 USD), but it's one of the most popular cars in the world. Apart from the newest model, the R35, other popular models from the past, including the R32 at the beginning of the video, the R33NISMO400R at 0:28, and the R34V Spec II Nur at 0:41, are also featured in the video. The history of the GT-R dates back to the 15th Tokyo Motor Show in 1968, when the Skyline GT Racing version, a successor to the Prince Skyline 2000 GT-B, which had been active in touring car racing, was exhibited as a concept car with a Skyline 2000 GT-B body and an in-line 6-cylinder DOH engine. In 1969, the first Skyline GT-R was made commercially available based on these specifications. It has a distinctive appearance with four round tail lights. The Skyline GT-R has also been known as "Hakosuka," "Kenmeri," "R," and "Suka G-R" (in Japan). Many people were captivated by the Skyline GT-R, customizing and modifying it to their own tastes. Today, the GT-R is sold at specialty GT-R shops. Since it's a high-octane gasoline car, its fuel consumption is poor and its maintenance costs are high. However, the tires last longer than ever before and the oil change costs are slightly lower, making the car more affordable than when it debuted. The Appeal of the Skyline GT-R Photo:Nissan GTR The Nissan Skyline GT-R is one of Japan's most iconic high-performance cars. It features a dedicated engine and equipment built to maximize its power in auto racing. The R32, which debuted in 1989, is one of the most popular cars in the GT-R series, with used cars being sold abroad often. The R32 was created as the culmination of Nissan's technology, with the goal of creating a car that could win the All Japan Touring Car Championship. It was equipped with a twin-turbo RB26DETT engine and entered the All Japan Touring Car Championship in 1990. Its design gives off a proud aura and has a charm that draws you in. The Ford Sierra RS500 also participated in the championship, but the R32 was overwhelmingly fast, lapping other cars for the win. The R32 was a first-class car in terms of design, features and equipment, and its subsequent models were also built without any major changes to the design concept or basic engine settings. Summary of the Skyline GT-R Source :YouTube screenshot "Nissan introduces GT-R in Hong Kong," published by Nissan, is a video that introduces the appeal of the Nissan Skyline GT-R. It's a must-see for car fanatics as you can get a close up look at the popular GT-R series. How Rice Crackers Saved Chiba's Choshi Railway! A Look at the Unique Idea That Transcended the Bounds of a Railroad Company to Overcome a Business Crisis!

President Takemoto Katsunori, Who Saved Choshi Railway The video "Local Line Protected by Creativity: The Struggle of the President of Choshi Dentetsu" (発想力で守るローカル線 銚子電鉄社長の奮闘) was uploaded by "Nikkei." The Choshi Electric Railway, which is only 6.4 kilometers long, runs on the east side of the Kanto region and is famous for its unique events, such as the "Ghost Train" and its moist rice crackers. President Katsunori Takemoto, a former tax accountant, utilized his ingenuity to protect the Choshi Railway, which serves as the main form of transportation in the area. What is the Choshi Railway? Photo:Choshi Railway・Tokawa Station Choshi Railway (Choshi Dentetsu), Choden for short, is a train that connects Choshi Station and Tokawa Station in Chiba. The entire line is in Choshi City, and it passes through the easternmost part of the city, near Cape Inubō (犬吠埼, Inubōsaki). Including its predecessor, Choshi Yuran Railway, the railway has a history of more than 100 years. The trains were acquired from major private railroads, and some of them are more than 50 years old. The railway has been in danger of being abandoned many times due to poor performance. Although it is difficult to run the train due to the decreasing population, the management is partly supported by the sale of snacks such as "mazui bo" and wet rice crackers. These wet crackers have generated more than twice the profit of the Choshi Railway, and President Katsunori Takemoto says "the Choshi Railway is a cracker shop" at an interview at 0:56 in the video. You can see crackers being baked at 1:09 in the video. The Brilliant Idea of President Takemoto Katsunori Source :YouTube screenshot President Katsunori Takemoto became the electric railway's tax advisor while also performing conductor duties. His innovations, such as naming rights for event trains and stations, were also successful. The selling of naming rights wasn’t limited to short sighted planning either; it was also to attract companies that were committed to rebuilding the Choshi Railway's management and contributing to the community as owners. Examples include "Never Give Up" Choshi Station (絶対にあきらめない銚子駅), "Roswell" Kimigahama Station (ロズウェル君ヶ浜駅) and "Thank you" Tokawa Station (ありがとう外川駅). In this way, the Choshi Railway has been contributing to society and the region as a hub of the local economy. In recent years, they have released various characters under the anthropomorphic railcar project "Loco MOTION," and a superhero named "Chodenjin Go Gusher" was also created. The Rice Crackers That Saved Choshi Railway Source :YouTube screenshot In 1989, the Choshi Railway was threatened with closure due to a decline in population. In 1998, they started selling moist rice crackers, surpassing earnings from the railway's main business. This was picked up by many media outlets and was the talk of the town at the time. Unfortunately, in 2004, the company took on the debt of the president at that time and began to decline once again. However, rice crackers came to the rescue once again, pulling the railway out of a crisis. The online sales of rice crackers, which were not doing well at the moment, were replaced with crackers that said "Please buy me, I have to earn money to repair the trains." Fans responded to the cry for help, and the railway was able to dodge yet another bullet. Incidentally, the rice crackers, popular survival masks, scarves, and other original Choshi Dentetsu goods are also available by mail order, so please visit the online shop on their website if you're interested. Summary of Choshi Dentetsu's Rice Crackers Photo:Choshi Railway Did you enjoy reading about the innovation of Choshi Dentetsu and their rice crackers? Taking a ride on the quaint railway may make you feel like you're on a sightseeing trip to a far-away land. A movie depicting the history of the Choshi Railway was released in winter 2019 as well. Japan's Space Development Started in 1955 With Pencil-Sized Rockets That Were Just 20 cm Long! Since Then, Japan’s Space Development Technology Has Advanced at an Explosive Pace, and It Now Leads the World With Its Cutting-Edge Technology!
Life & Business History- 40 plays

More Than 60 Years of Space Development at JAXA The video this time is titled "JAXA - The History of Japanese Space Exploration" (JAXA-日本の宇宙開発史ハイライト-), released by "JAXA | Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency." By looking up at the starry sky, many people ponder their own thoughts... we've been gazing up at the sky as a source of wisdom since ancient times. There was a time in Japan, too, when Onmyodo (the way of Yin and Yang) played an active role in politics by reading the movements of the stars and predicting good fortune. There's truly an inseparable link between humans and the cosmos. It is often misunderstood that Japan lags behind Europe and the United States in space development, but in fact, Japan has devoted more than 60 years to space development and is now one of the most successful countries in the world. JAXA plays a central role in Japan's space development. In this article, we’ll introduce the history of JAXA's space development. Be sure to follow along with the video! The History of Jaxa's Space Development Photo:Moon landing JAXA is the core organization for space development in Japan. It was established at the Tanegashima Space Center (TNSC) in 2003 through a merger between the Institute of Space and Astronautical Science (ISAS), the National Aerospace Laboratory (NAL), and the National Space Development Agency of Japan (NASDA). The three predecessor organizations were all privately funded space development agencies, but after being reborn as JAXA, they became the core organization supporting the Japanese government's space development research. The latest Japanese space probes have the world's leading technology. Here are some of JAXA's accomplishments that have left their mark on history. ・In 2007, the world's first high-definition image of the moon by the Lunar Explorer KAGUYA. (Video: 0:47〜) ・In 2009, the Japanese Experiment Module "Kibo" was completed. (Video: 0:53〜) ・In 2010, the planetary probe "Hayabusa" returned to Earth after successfully collecting surface samples from an asteroid. (Video: 0:58〜) ・In 2019, "Hayabusa2," an observation rocket, successfully touched down on the asteroid Ryugu. (Video : 1:00〜) JAXA has accomplished many great feats in the 17 years since it was founded. Japan's Space Development Before the Birth of JAXA Source :YouTube screenshot Japan's space development began in 1955 with the development of the Pencil Rocket, a very small rocket, as introduced in the beginning of the video. Just ten years after the war, Japan had already begun its domestic reconstruction and space development. In 1970, Japan's first satellite, "OHSUMI," was successfully launched. In 1985, Halley's comet was observed by "Suisei," in 1992, Mamoru Mohri became the first Japanese person to fly in space aboard a space shuttle, and in 1994, the Japan-made H-II rocket was successfully launched. Japan has a long history of great achievements even before the birth of JAXA. Summary of JAXA and Japan's Space Development Photo:Rocket It is said that Japan's space development had been attracting a great deal of attention after its Pencil launch test in 1955. The Pencil Rocket was nicknamed the "baby rocket" because of its extremely small size, with three types being developed: the S-type, T-type and R-type. At that time, the Pencil Rocket was already moving at close to the speed of sound, and the orbital data was utilized for the later Kappa Rockets. Back then it was thought to be impossible for Japan to develop a sounding rocket that could operate at an altitude of more than 100 km, but Japan succeeded in doing so using domestic technology alone. Although the U.S. and the Soviet Union have been the major space powers, Japan's technological prowess has been adopted by other countries for their rocket development. In particular, the latest engine technology of "Hayabusa" and remote-control technology will be a great asset to the history of space development to come. 【Official Website】JAXA|Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency https://global.jaxa.jp/ -

A Fusion of Sports Bike and Japanese Steel - The Pride of Suzuki Motor This video, titled "KATANA official promotional video : FEEL THE EDGE | Suzuki," is an introductory video of the famous motorcycle "KATANA," produced by the world renown automobile and motorcycle manufacturer, Suzuki. At 0:07 in the video, we're greeted by the flames of a forge and a hammer striking steel. Shortly after, the beautiful design of Japanese sword appears. This is followed by a series of fast-paced scenes in which a samurai wearing a visor makes a powerful slash, creating the sharp edges of Suzuki's "Katana." At 1:32, in the video, the samurai transforms into the rider, racing down the track on the KATANA. It's a very cool video, reminiscent of a samurai riding full speed into battle. About Suzuki's KATANA Photo:Suzuki Motorcycle The KATANA, a masterpiece of a motorcycle possessing Suzuki's own sharp and aggressive form, was born in 1981, some 40 years ago. At that time, its unparalleled sharp design captured the hearts of riders and spawned a loyal following. The first classic KATANA type was the GXS110, a prototype with a cowling that was announced at the 1980 motor show in Germany. At that time, opinions on the radical design with a motif of a Japanese sword were divided, and it was said that it would never be mass-produced with such a design. However, mass production of the old KATANA began in 1981, with only the 1100cc variant being released. But its popularity grew and it was made into a series of 750cc, 400cc, and 250cc variants. The development was temporarily discontinued in 2000, but the older models are still incredibly popular to this day, and used and custom bikes are sold at high prices. The GSX250SS KATANA, a faithful reproduction of the first KATANA released in 1991, is said to be the most popular of the successive generations that have been released. More About the Latest KATANA Source :YouTube screenshot In 2019, Suzuki announced the long awaited production of a new model KATANA. Prior to this, the KATANA 3.0, a prototype of the new bike, was unveiled at the EICMA 2017 Milan show and generated a lot of buzz among bikers. Suzuki’s flagship model, Suzuki Naked, is used in the new KATANA’s engine. It also has a full LCD-type multi-function display, which improves the visibility and operability of the fuel consumption gauge and speedometer. The new supersport bike has a more distinctive appearance with a sharper cowling than the KATANA of yesteryear. Summary of Suzuki’s New KATANA Source :YouTube screenshot The new KATANA was launched in 2019 to the delight of many motoring enthusiasts, and thanks to improvements to the engine and suspension, it takes less time to reach top speed. The new Katana's design is sharper and more ambitious than ever before, and it's sure to attract both old fans and newcomers to the bike. The new KATANA will be available in one model and two colors, with prices starting at 1,540,000 yen. For more information, check out Suzuki's official website. The Queen Ashinoko is the 3rd pirate ship that is in service on Hakone's largest lake, Lake Ashinoko. Hakone is a hot spring resort area representing East Japan, and the area is full of tourists year round. However, the appeal of Hakone is not just the hot springs. Going for a cruise on Lake Ashinoko is also one of the major attractions of sightseeing in Hakone, and, as shown in the footage, in 2019, the 3rd pirate ship "Queen Ashinoko" went into service. It has a gleaming golden hull and the design, with its luxurious and classic interior using wood, has become widely talked about and is already very popular. You can see the appearance of the beautiful hull at 4:57 during its commencement ceremony. The Queen Ashinoko was named after a pirate ship, and was designed as a tourist ship of luxury and elegance, with the concept of "from a ship that fights to a ship that prays for peace..."On the bow is a statue of Nike of Samothrace, which is exhibited at the Louvre Museum. It is designed as a luxurious and elegant sightseeing ship. Building the Pirate Ship and How It Was Transported Source :YouTube screenshot Typically, shipyards are located by the sea. Even ships like Queen Ashinoko, that are located in the mountains are built near the sea. In fact, Queen Ashinoko was built at a shipyard in Tsurumi, Yokohama, in Kanagawa Prefecture. But then how was such a massive ship like the Queen Ashinoko brought to Hakone? Well actually, the basic manufacturing of the frame and exterior was done at the shipyard, and then the hull was disassembled into 10 blocks and transported to Hakone by land. You can see the transport at 1:30 in the video. After being transported to Hakone in a large trailer, the Queen Ashinoko was assembled at the owner's company's dock, and then the finishing touches of painting and interior work were done, and finally it was completed. The actual assembly process is shown at 2:37 in the video. You can see that the entire process, including the golden paint job, is carried out by shipbuilding specialists. The wooden interior design was designed by computer and laser engraved for a beautiful finish.
