It is a traditional dance performed with a real sword, and has been designated an Important Intangible Cultural Asset of Japan. It attracts many visitors each year. It can be seen from 0:30 in the video. It's one of the most popular festivals held in Takaharu, Miyazaki prefecture. Haraigawa Kagura is another traditional dance performed using real swords. It's held every year on the second Saturday in December. During the intermission there's an opportunity for children to practice dancing with the swords which is always a crowd pleaser. Kirishima is a mountain range in Takaharu where you can find the beautiful Mt. Takachiho (高千穂峰, takachihonomine). The reflection of the mountain on the nearby rice paddies creates some magnificent scenery. Yakushima lighthouse is located at the westernmost tip of Yakushima. In early summer, sea turtles come to the beaches in Yakushima to lay eggs. You might be able to see local deer and monkeys on the Seibu Rindo Forest Path as well. Dinosaur Fossils Discovered on Koshiki Island We would like to introduce the video "Dinosaur fossil discovered on the coast of Koshiki Island! The Nippon Foundation Umitonihon PROJECT in Kagoshima 2018 #09（甑島の海辺で恐竜の化石発見！ 日本財団 海と日本PROJECT in 鹿児島 2018 #09）". The National Museum of Nature and Science (国立科学博物館, kokuritsukagakuhakubutsukan) and Sendai city, Kagoshima prefecture in the Japan's Kyushu region, announced the discovery of a 70 cm long dinosaur fossil on Koshiki Island. Kojima's "Monkey Island" This is a video that introduces "Monkey Island" on Kojima, a place where monkey's have formed their own unique culture. Kojima is an island approximately 200 meters offshore from the Ishinami coast in Kushima City, Miyazaki Prefecture, in Japan's Kyushu region. It is known as a research site for Japanese macaques along with the Takasakiyama Natural Zoological Garden in Oita Prefecture. Currently, the entirety of Kojima has been designated "Nichinan Kaigan National Park" and "Kojima Wild Monkey Habitat," and is the subject of conservation and research activities.
