Hello COOL JAPAN VIDEOS viewers! It is a Rishirifuji Tourism Association located on Rishiri Island, Hokkaido. We will introduce the sightseeing spots of Rishiri Fuji Town from today.
~Introduction of Mount Rishiri~
Mt. Rishiri, Japan's northernmost independent peak, has been selected as one of the "100 Famous Mountains of Japan" by mountaineer and novelist Hisaya Fukada. The foundation of Mt. Rishiri, which is 1,721 meters above sea level, was formed by a volcano, and subsequent eruptions formed the current appearance of the mountain. The rough shape near the summit is not caused by the volcano, but by repeated erosion and collapse of the mountain surface due to severe winds and snow in the northernmost region.
Mt. Rishiri has a well-maintained mountain trail, and there are two courses, the Rishiri Fuji Town "Oshidomari Course" for beginners to intermediates, and the Rishiri Town "Kutsugata Course" for advanced climbers, and about 10,000 climbers use it every year to reach the summit. In addition, at the foot of the Oshidomari Course, which is the most frequently used, there is the spring water "Ganro Spring Water", which has been selected as one of the 100 best waters in Japan, and is useful as an oasis place for climbers.
In recent years, the rapid increase in the number of climbers has led to the deterioration of mountain trails, amplifying the effects of bare ground due to trampling by climbers and soil scouring caused by rain and snowmelt in places where fragile volcanic strata are exposed. The local Rishiriyama Mountain Trail Maintenance and Management Liaison Council is working to maintain and repair the mountain trail, but it is not easy to restore nature once it has been damaged. Therefore, we have formulated the "Rishiri Rule," which is a regional rule for mountain trail conservation, and are calling on mountain climbers to cooperate with mountain climbing manners.
【Rishiri Rules】
1. Use portable toilets
2. Cap the stock
3. Do not sit on the plant, do not step on it
In order to protect Mount Rishiri and to make it enjoyable for many people, we ask for your cooperation in spreading the Rishiri Rules.
