Introducing the Underwater World of Amami Oshima! This time, we'll introduce the video "[ 4K Ultra HD ] 奄美の海中世界 Underwater World in Amami Islands (Shot on RED EPIC)" with which you can enjoy the beautiful underwater scenery of Amami Oshima in the Amami Islands, Kagoshima Prefecture. The video was released by "AQUA Geo Graphic." The approximately 3-minute long video is packed with beautiful images of underwater coral reefs and the tropical fish of Amami Oshima, a subtropical climate. Amami Oshima in Kagoshima Prefecture Photo:A village in Amami Oshima, Kagoshima Prefecture Amami Oshima, introduced in the video, is the main island of the Amami Islands located at the southern tip of Kagoshima Prefecture. There is also Amami Oshima Airport in Amami Oshima, and there are also flights from Kagoshima as well as Tokyo and Osaka. Skymark Airlines, LCC peaches, and JAL offer flights, and in recent years it has become popular as a remote island that can be visited easily. Car rental is convenient for traveling from the airport! For those who are not confident in driving or don't have a license to do so, we recommend visiting on a tour. Staying in Naze, Amami City, in the center of the island, is great as it allows you to be right in the middle of everything the island has to offer. For those who want to enjoy a private space, we recommend staying at a resort hotel that is a little more tucked away. Diving in Amami Oshima! Photo:Amami oshima The Amami Islands consist of eight inhabited islands: Kikaijima, Kakeromajima, Kakejima, Yoroshima, Tokunoshima, Okinoerabujima, and Yoronshima, and Amami Oshima which is the largest of these. Since it is located in the middle of Okinawa Island, which is about 380 km south of Kagoshima, the waters are incredibly clear and are called "Amami Blue." You can also see coral reefs and colorful tropical fish in the sea around here. It's also possible to encounter groups of clownfish, moray eels, and sea turtles like in the popular Disney movie "Finding Nemo." Many coral reefs inhabit the sea of Amami Oshima, and you can also see coral, such as "Hama coral" and "branch coral" up close. You can see the beautiful coral reefs from 1:39 in the video. In addition to diving, you can also enjoy several experience-based activities, such as whale watching and snorkeling in the sea of Amami Oshima! Attractions and Sightseeing on Amami Oshima! Photo:Exploring mangroves by canoe The charm of Amami Oshima is the beautiful sea, but that's not all it has to offer. On the island of Amami Oshima, Kinsakubaru Forest and the Amami Mangrove Forest are famous. The two of these make up the Amami Gunto National Park, a place abundant with nature. It is also home to animals so rich in character that it is called the Galapagos of the Orient, and if you're lucky, you'll be able to see the nationally protected species of the island, such as the "Amami rabbit," "Lidith's jay," and the "White-backed woodpecker" or Kagoshima prefecture's protected species, the "Amami Oshima Frog." In addition, "Ayamaru Misaki", "Tomori Beach" and "Mt. Yuwan" on the island are also great places to visit. The Back-Alley Aquarium of Kyoto's Pontocho: Video Introduction This video, titled "The Back Alley Aquarium of Pontocho" (先斗町 路地裏水族館), was uploaded by "KETO room." The most famous aquarium in Kyoto is Kyoto Aquarium located in Umekoji Park in Shimogyo, Kyoto, but did you know that there's actually an aquarium tucked away in Pontocho, one of Kyoto's famous geisha districts? The name of the aquarium is Roji Suizokukan (路地水族館, lit. Alley Aquarium). In this article, we'll introduce the unique aquarium, a popular tourist attraction in Kyoto, along with the streets of Pontocho. Pontocho, a Geisha District of Kyoto and Home to the Back-Alley Aquarium Photo:Pontocho, Kyoto Pontocho is an entertainment district located in Nakagyo, Kyoto, famous as a historic "hanamachi" (a district where geisha live and work) that has existed since Japan's Edo period (1603-1868 A.D.) Along its 550-meter-long street, there are many long-established traditional Japanese restaurants, establishments where geisha offer entertainment to guests, and a wide variety of other restaurants. The name Pontocho (先斗町) is actually said to originate from the Portuguese word "ponto," meaning "bridge," and the Japanese word "cho," meaning "town." Despite "cho" meaning "town" in Japanese, Pontocho is not a town at all, but rather a long, narrow street along Kyoto's Kamo River. Pontocho is a 5-minute walk from Kawaramachi Station on the Hankyu Line, or a 3-minute walk from Gion-Shijo Station on the Keihan Line. If you take the Tozai Subway Line and get off at Keihan Sanjo Station, you can reach Pontocho in 5 minutes on foot. Highlights of the Alley Aquarium in Pontocho, Kyoto Photo:Oryzias The entrance to Pontocho is to your right, just after crossing Shijo Ohashi Bridge and passing a police box, but it's a narrow street, so it's easy to miss if you're not careful. In a corner of an alleyway in Pontocho is the Alley Aquarium, a unique spot in Kyoto where you can see goldfish, oryzias, and koi swimming leisurely in tanks and bowls of various sizes along an alleyway less than one meter wide. Because it's located in an alley, the aquarium can be viewed in the morning or at night without having to worry about business hours, which is another attraction of the back-alley aquarium. When the sun begins to set, the aquarium is lit up and becomes a photogenic space. The fantastic atmosphere is great for taking Instagram photos. Another great point is that admission is free. A donation box to help pay for food, which has an illustration of the aquarium's director, Rakko san (Mr. Sea Otter), is located at the entrance of the Alley Aquarium, so if you want to help out, feel free to drop him a donation. The Alley Aquarium grew in popularity after being posted on Japanese social media, and since then it has become a unique thing to do in Kyoto. The director's cute signboard can be seen in various spots throughout the Alley Aquarium. [Video] 0:53 - Donation Box [Video] 1:04 - Sea Otter Director's Cute Sign Pyon Pyoko Pyon – A Cute Trinket Shop in Pontocho For Souvenirs Photo:Goldfish The couple behind the alley aquarium is the owner and operator of Usagi no Atorie Pyon Pyoko Pyon. Pyon Pyoko Pyon is a store in an alley in Pontocho that sells rabbit-themed goods, and the store is filled with rabbit tableware, chopstick rests, and other trinkets. The mascots of the store are Usakichi and Chibikichi, two Shigaraki-ware bunnies dressed in seasonal costumes, which help visitors feel relaxed and at home. You can also check the store's information on Instagram @pontocho.usagiya. After enjoying the old-fashioned atmosphere and ambience of Pontocho and relaxing with the colorful fish swimming in the alley aquarium, be sure to stop by Pyon Pyoko Pyon to get some souvenirs of your travels to Kyoto. [Video] 0:58 - Goldfish Swimming in an Aquarium [Video] 2:32 - The Elegant Atmosphere of Pontocho The Best Restaurants in Pontocho Photo:Kamogawa Noryodoko, Kyoto Kamogawa Noryodoko, a row of kawadoko (elevated platforms that sit above a reiver) along the Kamogawa River, is a summer tradition in Kyoto. Although many of the kawadoko that line Kyoto's Kamogawa River are expensive, there are actually a number of restaurants where you can enjoy the kawadoko for a reasonable price. One such place is "mag," a relaxing café tucked away in an alley, that's popular for its cute latte art. It's the perfect place to take a breather. After savoring a delicious cup of coffee at "mag," located inside an alley between Kiyamachi and Pontocho, you can enjoy a casual kawadoko experience at Ponto-cho Robin. Although a more casual experience, the restaurant is reasonably priced and is a great way to experience the Kyoto summer tradition. While the number of terrace-type restaurants has been increasing in recent years, the traditional kawadoko style at Pontocho Robin, where you can relax and stretch your legs, has great reviews. The kawadoko lunch at Pontocho Robin is available until the end of September. [Video] 2:46 - Kamogawa River Kawadoko, a Summer Tradition in Kyoto Appearing at the end of the video is the popular Kyoto Sanjo Ohashi Starbucks Coffee, which also offers kawadoko seating. You can enjoy the starry skies from Kyoto and the sound of the river while relaxing at night here. [Video] 3:03 - Kyoto Sanjo Ohashi Starbucks Other popular restaurants in Pontocho are the izakaya Pontocho Sakaba, and the Michelin Guide restaurant Pontocho Masuda, but there are many more places to grab a bite to eat, so don't be afraid to look around. In 2023, Kyoto's kawadoko are scheduled to be set up from May to September. Be sure to check them out if you're visiting Kyoto! Things to Do Near Pontocho There are a number exciting things to do near Pontocho, but our personal recommendation is the stretch between Pontocho and Maruyama Park, as the area has many things to do, making it an efficient way to spend your time. Maruyama Park Maruyama Park is located 10-15 minutes from Pontocho and is home to the beautiful Yasaka Shrine, as well as Chionin Temple and Shorenin Temple, two temples with breathtaking gardens. The park is famous for its cherry blossoms during the spring, so if you're visiting when they're in bloom, definitely check them out. Additionally, the walk to Maruyama Park will take you across the famous Shijo Ohashi Bridge, and along Shijo Dori, a street full of restaurants, souvenir shops, and tons of other interesting places. Here, you'll also find Hanamikoji Street, another popular geisha district in Kyoto with historic buildings and an atmosphere that seems to have been frozen in time. Minamiza Kakubi Theatre Minamiza Kakubi Theatre, located just across Shijo Ohashi Bridge, between Pontocho and Maruyama Park, is the last of 7 kabuki theatres that once existed in Kyoto. The theatre dates back 400 years, and kabuki performances are still held at the theatre regularly. If you're interested in Japanese performing arts, or just want to see what a Japanese play is like, definitely check it out. The theatre does have English headsets available for non-Japanese audiences, but not for all performances, so be sure to check the official website for more information. Summary of the Alley Aquarium in Kyoto's Pontocho Located in Pontocho, the Alley Aquarium is a unique tourist attraction in Kyoto, tucked away in the elegant streets of the town. You can see a variety of colorful fish swimming in aquariums and pots of all sizes, and at night the aquarium is lit up, giving it a fantastic atmosphere. The couple behind the alley aquarium is the same couple who run the trinket shop Pyon Pyoko Pyon, and their cute rabbit-themed goods make great souvenirs. There are also a number of restaurants in Pontocho where you can enjoy kawadoko along the Kamo River. If you're traveling in Kyoto and looking for things to do, consider checking out the Alley Aquarium in Pontocho. It's also great for dates! For the latest information, be sure to check out the Alley Aquarium on Instagram @rakko_aqua_pontocho. 【TripAdvisor】Pontocho -

The Kakita River, a Unique Stream Flowing Through Shizuoka, Japan: Video Introduction This video, titled "Explore the Enchanting Crystal Waters of Kakita River with 8KVR!!!" The Kakita River is Japan's shortest Class 1 river, one of the three clearest rivers in Japan along with the Nagara River and the Shimanto River, and is fed by spring water from Mt. Fuji. In 1985, the Kakita River was selected as one of the "100 Famous Bodies of Waters" by the Kakita River Spring Group because of the purity of its water. Be sure to take a look at the beautiful 8K VR video of the clear stream created by the spring water from Mt. Fuji. The Kakita River, a Clear Stream Filled With Spring Water From Mt. Fuji! Photo:Spring water at Kakita River Park The Kakita River is a Class 1 river in the Kano River system located in Shimizu, Shizuoka, in Japan's Tokai Region. It boasts the largest volume of spring water in Japan, and most of the water in the Kakita River is spring water from melting snow and rainwater from Mt. Fuji that seeps into the Mishima lava flow. It is one of the most unique rivers in Japan. It is one of the three clearest rivers in Japan and is also designated as a Natural Monument by the government of Japan in the category of geological minerals. The Kakita River stays at a cool 15°C throughout the year, with a constant volume, allowing the Mishima Baikamo, an underwater plant unique to rivers, to grow in abundance, nurturing a rich natural environment that provides comfort to the local people. At one time, factories moved into the area to exploit the abundant spring water, and the deteriorating quality of the water made it uninhabitable for fish. However, thanks to the efforts of the local people to improve the water quality and protect the habitat for kingfishers and various fish, the Kakita River continues to flow as a clear and transparent stream. What Gives the Kakita River Its Blue Color? Photo:Spring water at Kakita River Park Kakita River Park is located upstream of the Kakita River. Originally the ruins of Izumigashira Castle built by Hojo Ujiyasu, a daimyo known as "The Lion of Sagami," this historic place is home to one of the most photogenic spots on the Kakita River. The "Wakima," is one of the sources of the Kakita River and can be seen from the observation deck of Kakita River Park. This place was originally used as a well by a nearby factory. The blue-colored source seen from the second observation deck is a mysterious beauty and has become quite popular on Japanese social media. The Kakita River spring water appears blue because of the water's ability to absorb red light. The deeper the water gets, the bluer it becomes. The color of the spring water changes slightly depending on the season, weather, and time of day, but the deepest and most beautiful blue can be seen in the mornings during the summer. Highlights of Kakita River Park Photo:Kifune Shrine at Kakita River Park, Shizuoka In addition to the Wakima, you can also enjoy a picnic at Kakita River Park! You can rent a picnic set at the Shimizu Town Tourist Information Center "Wakura Kakita River" and have a picnic without having to bring your own equipment. You can also rent equipment for activities such as badminton, dodgeball, and Othello/Reversi. Kakita River Park is located in the town of Shimizu in Sunto Ward, not Shimizu Ward, so be sure not to mix them up if you plan on visiting! Kifune Shrine, famous for boosting one's luck in love, is located in Kakita River Park. This shrine is a branch of Kibune Shrine in Kyoto and is dedicated to the god of water, but it has become known as a shrine for praying for love. On the approach to the shrine, there is a stone monument, and touching the stone shaped like a rice ball is said to bring good luck. There is also a mizu-mikuji (water fortune) that when placed in water makes the characters appear, making it a popular power spot for couples and those seeking love. Restaurants Near the Kakita River Photo:Tofu cuisine at Kitchen Kawasemi There are a variety of restaurants and cafes near the Kakita River. At the roadside stop Yusui no Michi (湧水の道), adjacent to Kakita River Park, you can find Kitchen Kawasemi (キッチンかわせみ) and Shokuji-dokoro Kawasemi Honkan (食事処かわせみ本館) where you can enjoy tofu dishes using fresh spring water from the Kakita River. At Kitchen Kawasemi, you can enjoy cold tofu and yuba (tofu skin) the freshest wasabi. Coffee brewed with spring water from the Kakita River is also available. Shokuji-dokoro Kawasemi Honkan offers a kominka (traditional Japanese home) experience, with reservations given priority. Here, the serve bento boxed lunches with a choice of either hot tofu or cold tofu made the famous spring water from the area. Also nearby is a store where you can purchase tofu ice cream, firm or soft tofu made spring water, green rice crackers, and coffee beans called Kakitagawa Yusui Blend Stop by after a stroll in Kakita River Park! A Brief Overview of Shimizu, Shizuoka Shizuoka Prefecture is the 10th largest prefecture in Japan based on population (3.5 million), and is located 1 hour from Tokyo and Nagoya via shinkansen (bullet train). Shimizu is a small town located in northeastern Shizuoka with a population of just 32,000. It's close to both the sea and mountains and even hot springs. Summary of the Mysteriously Clear Kakita River The Kakita River is one of the smallest rivers in Japan, at approximately 1.2 km long. However, it's so transparent that it is one of the three clearest rivers in Japan. The blue spring water gushing up from the earth, which can be seen from the second observatory in Kakita River Park, is a popular, photogenic spot. Kakita River Park is also a sightseeing spot where families can enjoy picnics and outdoor activities during the spring and fall. Nearby is Sun to Moon Kakitagawa, a large commercial facility that includes a movie theater and a shopping mall. When sightseeing in Shizuoka Prefecture, be sure to stop by Shimizu! 【TripAdvisor】Kakita River Park -

Ueda Castle: A Hot Topic After Being Featured in the Historical Drama "Sanadamaru"! If You Want to Learn More About Yukimura Sanada, a Famous Warlord in the Warring States Period, Don't Miss Out on This Historical Sightseeing Destination in Ueda, Nagano!

A Look at Ueda Castle This video, titled "[Aerial Footage] A Travelogue of Ueda Castle [Drone]" (【空撮】空撮上田城紀行 【ドローン】), was produced by "HEXaMedia." Ueda Castle, introduced in the video, is a castle that was built by Sanada Masayuki, the father of the famous warlord Sanada Yukimura. Currently, it is a proud historical tourist destination in Ueda city, Nagano prefecture, and is included in "Japan's Top 100 Castles" and is also a "Night View Heritage of Japan." The castle was constructed during the Tensho period (1573-1592) in the Warring States period (1467-1615). Ueda Castle is also famous for being an impregnable castle, having survived 2 fierce attacks by the Tokugawa Family. The depiction of the Tokugawa Family attacking the castle at the battle of Ueda Castle has been used for many TV dramas and movies. In recent years, it has become widely talked about as the stage of the first of the Ueda Battles in the NHK TV Taiga Drama "Sanadamaru." This time, we introduce a video showing beautiful aerial views of the Ueda Castle ruins, shot via drone. Present-Day Ueda Castle Photo:Nagano prefecture, Ueda Castle The present-day Ueda Castle ruins are a restoration that was done in 1994. It consists of a pillar stone on the right side of the inner citadel which was made by Sanada Masayuki, and a tower gate that was demolished in the Meiji era (1868-1912). It was also called Amagabuchi Castle due to the fact that it was located on the north side of the Ueda Basin and adjacent to Amagabuchi, a distributary of the Chikuma River. Surrounded by the Chikuma River in the south, the Amagabuchi distributary in the north, the Yadezawa River to the west, and the Hiruzawa River in the east; the Ueda Castle was a natural fortress that survived the fierce attacks of the Tokugawa army twice. However, during the reign of the 7th castle lord, Matsudaira Tadachika, the stone walls that were damaged by the flood of Kyoho were restored. As you can see from 1:59 in the video, the present-day ruins of the inner citadel of Ueda Castle have become Sanada Shrine and the old well that is there is called the Sanada well, which is said to have been a secret passage that led to the Taro Mountain Foothills located north of the castle. The History of Ueda Castle Photo:Nagano prefecture, Ueda Castle Ueda Castle, which was said to have been impregnable, was used by many castle lords even after the Sanada clan was placed under house arrest (a punishment of being confined in one room). After the Battle of Sekigahara, Sengoku Tadamasa became the lord of the castle. Originally, Ueda Castle was located in the province of Shinano, sandwiched between the eastern and western armies, and was designed and built to specialize in defense rather than as a base for attack. Traditionally, it was standard practice to build a castle tower on the roof of the inner citadel, but no such records of a castle tower at Ueda Castle exist. Ueda Castle reigned in the Shinano Province for approximately 300 years from the year it was built to the era of Tadafusa Matsudaira, the last lord of the castle, and the Ueda Castle Town is said to have prospered as a key transportation hub. Highlights of Ueda Castle Source :YouTube screenshot At present, Ueda Castle is without an inner citadel or castle tower; however, there are still a lot of places to see due to its unique structure. These include the Southern watchtower, Northern watchtower, and the Higashi Koguchi Watchtower Gate (0:24 in the video). In the spring, there's the Senbon Zakura Festival (Festival of a Thousand Cherry Blossoms) and in the fall, Ueda Castle Keyaki Tree Autumnal Color Festival is held. The Sanada Festival is held every year at the Ueda Castle castle-town. During this time, you can enjoy the illuminated Ueda Castle ruins. Also, at the Higashi Koguchi main gates, there's the Sanada stone, which is said to be a remnant of the Sanada Family. The West watchtower (0:34- of the video) was built by Sengoku Tadamasa in the Warring States period and it is the only historical building still around from the Edo period (1603-1868). ・Ishidoi This is a stone canal that leads from Ninomaru in Ueda City, Nagano Prefecture to the track and field stadium at the site of the Hyakenbori Ruins. ・Sumiotoshi The unique shape of the sumiotoshi in the inner citadel was created by cutting off a corner of the earthen mound to ward off evil spirits with feng shui. ・Ueda City Museum A museum located in the Ueda Castle Ruins Park. Summary of Ueda Castle Photo:Ema of Ueda Castle Ruins Park Ueda Castle Site Park, the centerpiece of Ueda City's tourism, offers a variety of hospitality in addition to events to welcome visitors. The red seal of Sanada Shrine and the castle seal of Ueda Castle are great ways to remember your visit. For more information on parking, transportation, and event guides to the castle, please visit the Ueda Castle official website. Ueda Castle was once an unbeatable castle that not even the famous Tokugawa Ieyasu or Toyotomi Hideyoshi could conquer. The Type 10 Tank Rampaging at Nerima Garrison This video is titled "Type 10 Tank Rampage! Nerima Garrison Memorial Event Type10 MBT"(10式戦車大暴れ! 練馬駐屯地記念行事 Type10 MBT). It was taken by "kinokopack," at the exhibition for the Type 10 tank at the Nerima Garrison Memorial Event held at Nerima Garrison. The Type 10 tank is a Japanese main battle tank that was manufactured at a development cost of 48.4 billion yen (~$455m USD). You can see the powerful, dexterous movement of the tank in the video. If you like tanks or other war machines then you don't want to miss out on this video. In this article, we'll introduce the Type 10 tank that appeared at the Nerima Garrison event. Be sure to follow along with the video! Japan's Type 10 Tank: Features and Capability Source :YouTube screenshot The Type 10 tank is a fourth-generation domestic tank, the successor to the Ground Self Defense Force Type 90. The Ministry of Defense's Technology & Research Division is in charge of its development, and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries is responsible for its production. The Type 10 tank has incredibly high firepower, defenses, and mobility, and is an overall well-rounded tank. The main gun is a domestic .44 caliber 120 mm smooth-bore cannon. The shells are a new domestic armor-piercing round characterized by their high penetration. In the video, you can see footage of the Type 10 tank rampaging at the Nerima garrison. From 3:50 in the video, you can also see how it was made at the venue and its hill-climbing ability. The Type 10 tank is also equipped with an air conditioner for cooling the electronic equipment, but not the passengers. As tanks generally run with the windows open, it doesn't make much sense to equip an air conditioner for passengers, and it seems that cooling suits are often used when it's hot. The fuel consumption of the Type 10 tank is not disclosed as they are military secrets. The purchase price is 950 million yen per tank, and seeing as they are weapons, cannot be purchased by civilians. You can make high quality plastic models of Type 10 tanks, radio-controlled models and model cars as well. Why not give them a try? What Is Nerima Garrison? Photo:Japan's Ground Self-Defense Force The Nerima Garrison is a garrison used by the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force where the 1st Division Headquarters and other units are stationed. It is located in Nerima Ward, Tokyo. Because it is close to the city center, politicians and defense ministers often visit for inspection. In addition to the "1st Division Command," the "1st Division General Regiment," "1st Logistic Support Regiment," "1st Inspection Team," "1st Music Team," etc. are also stationed here. The anniversary celebration is held in April and the summer evening festival is held in July. There is also a military parade where you can see the tanks up close. In addition, during the commemorative events of Nerima Garrison, there is a display of equipment and a test-ride corner, so you can experience a once in a lifetime opportunity! Summary of Nerima Garrisons Type 10 Tanks Source :YouTube screenshot The video "Type 10 Tank Rampage! Nerima Garrison Memorial Event Type10 MBT" introduces the exhibition activities of the Type 10 tank at the events held at Nerima Garrison. The Type 10 tank is the newest Ground Self-Defense Force tank and has excellent mobility. In this video, you can feel the power and mobility of the Type 10 tank. Be sure to check it out! -

The majestic castle has an aura of history surrounding it and is a popular sightseeing destination in Shimane prefecture. In this article, we'll introduce Shimane prefecture’s Matsue Castle alongside with the video. About Matsue Castle Photo:Shimane prefecture・Matsue Castle Matsue Castle, introduced in the video, is a hirayama-style castle built in 1611. Horio Yoshiharu, Kyougoku Tadataka, Matsudaira Naomasa, and Matsudaira Harusato were lords of this castle. The castle has two names, and is often called "Chidori Castle." Famed for the only existing castle tower in the San-in region, Matsue Castle is built on the small Kameda Mountain, overlooking the beautiful Shinji Lake. Besides Matsue Castle, 5 more castles, including Inuyama Castle, Matsumoto Castle, Hikone Castle, and Himeji castle, are all designated as national treasures of Japan. Matsue Castle is designated as a national historical ruin as well as being chosen as one of the top 100 cherry blossom spots in Japan and one of the top 100 beautiful cityscapes. The History of Matsue Castle Photo:Matsue Castle in Spring In the Edo period (1603-1868), Matsue Castle served as the government office of the Matsue clan in the Edo Shogunate. However, because of the ordinance of "One Domain, One Castle," in the Meiji era (1868-1912), most of the castle, besides the wooden castle tower, was dismantled. Later on, the outer citadel tower and stone walls were reconstructed; and in the early years of the Showa era, the castle hillside area was opened to the public as a park. At 0:39 in the video, you can see Matsue Castle at the center of Matsue Shiroyama Park. Attached to the castle tower, there are connecting towers called Tsuke-yagura (lit. attached tower). The brattices, paulownia staircases, and wrapping boards called Tsutsumi-ita that protected the pillars were all distinctive features of the castle. It is said that there were many failed attempts when building the stone walls for the castle tower and there is also an urban legend that tells of men sacrificing themselves and becoming human pillars. Things to Note When Sightseeing at Matsue Castle Photo:Matsue Castle・Moat cruise During the fall season, there is an illumination event at Matsue Castle, and you can see the beautiful autumn colors. Zojoji Temple is one of the seven head temples of the Jodo sect of Buddhism and is located in Minato, Tokyo. Its official name is Sanenzan Kodoin Zojoji The video opens with a shot of a gate, showing a large number of ema plaques with the image of Avalokitesvara (a Boddhisatva) on them. In one area of the temple is the Garden of Unborn Children where Jizo statues stand holding windmills, inviting visitors to an otherworldly place. Be sure to take a look at it in the video. It's not often you find a place like this in a big city like Tokyo. History and Highlights of Zojoji Temple Photo:Zojoji Temple, Minato, Tokyo Zojoji Temple is a Buddhist temple of the Jodo sect of Buddhism, that was founded in 1393 by Yuyo Shoso, the eighth head priest of the Jodo sect. It was chosen as a family temple of the Tokugawa family and developed dramatically during the Edo period (1603-1868 A.D.) with deep ties to the Tokugawa Shoguns. There are gravesites of six Tokugawa shoguns within the precincts of the temple, showing the depth of the temple's connection with the Tokugawa family. The Black Image of Amida Buddha, which Ieyasu is said to have taken with him when he went into battle and prayed for victory, is known as the Buddha of victory and luck. The black-colored amulet of victory (勝運のお守り, Shoun no O-Mamori), derived from the Black Image of Amida Buddha, has a powerful aura. Be sure to keep an eye out for them when visiting the temple. There are many Important Cultural Properties to see on the temple grounds, including the Daiden (大殿, Main Hall), Enko-Daishi Hall (圓光大師堂, Enkodaishi-den, a hall dedicated to the Buddhist monk Honen Shonin), and Ankokuden Hall (安国殿, Ankokuden), which houses the Black Image of Amida Buddha.
