This video explains how to use kanzashi, Japanese hairpins used in traditional Japanese hairstyles, in an easy-to-understand manner, so that those unfamiliar with kanzashi can easily follow along. Kanzashi - Cute Hairstyles Without Kimono and Yukata A kanzashi is a hair ornament that is inserted into hair to maintain one's hair style after it is styled. During the Edo period (1603-1868 A.D.), as various hairstyles became popular, different types of hairpins emerged, and they became one of the most popular types of traditional Japanese accessories. They are used as hair ornaments for kimono and yukata, but in recent years, there are many products for everyday use as well. Common Types of Kanzashi Photo:Kanzashi There are various types of kanzashi, but here we'll introduce three common types. Tama Kanzashi This is a simple type of kanzashi with an ear pick and a ball attached to it. The larger the size of the ball, the more suitable the kanzashi is for young people. This type is shown in the video. Bachi Kanzashi The bachi type hairpin is called bachi because it resembles the bachi (pick) of a shamisen. Various materials, such as tortoiseshell, pearl, and foil are used for this type of hairpin, which is suitable for people of all ages to wear. Tsumami-zaiku Kanzashi This is a kanzashi made by folding cut fabric into small pieces and decorating the base with tweezers, using delicate techniques to create a beautifully flower. This is a hairpin for girls used for Shichi-Go-San and for maiko (apprentice geisha). Besides these, there are many other types of kanzashi, such as hirauchi kanzashi, hana kanzashi, bira-bira kanzashi, etc. Yakai-Maki - A Simple Guide to the Japanese-Style Updo! Source :YouTube screenshot There are many people want to try an updo but think it's too difficult to do a yakai-maki. The yakai-maki style using a single kanzashi introduced here is relatively easy. Check out the video and give it a try. Once you get the hang of it and get used to using a kanzashi, you'll be able to do not only yakai-maki but also half updo styles. You'll be able to expand your hair styles not only for kimono and yukata, but also for everyday use! [Yakai-maki Using a Kanzashi] ・Comb your hair into a single ponytail ・Wrap your hair around the hairpin once ・Holding the end of your hair in your other hand, turn the hairpin one full turn ・The tip of the hairpin should be at 11 o'clock (If the kanzashi does not turn, loosen the ends of your hair slightly) ・Tilt the hairpin toward the scalp and insert it slowly so that you don't injure yourself ・The key is to adjust it so that the hairpin is not too tight but not too loose [Video] 0:00 - 1:27 - Styling Yakai-maki with a Kanzashi The hair length suitable for Yakai-maki is semi-long. A beautiful yakai-maki can be achieved if your hair is from just below the collarbone to about chest level. Using Kanzashi With a Braided-Style Source :YouTube screenshot The braid style has the advantage that the hair is held together tightly, making it easy to insert a kanzashi. It's recommended when you want to create a clean and tidy look. [Kanzashi With a Braid] ・Tie hair into a single strand with an elastic band. ・Pull out a little hair at the top of the head to create a silhouette. ・Braid the ends of the hair and tie with a hair band, then pull out a little hair from the braided part to create a softer look. ・Insert the tip of the hairpin into the braid, tilt it toward the scalp, and slowly insert it into the braid. [Video] 1:28 - Kanzashi With a Braid The braid arrangement is a style for long hair. It is tied with an elastic band to keep it together. To create a stylish look, it's important to pull out just the right amount of hair from the top of the head and the braided area to create a softer look. How to Use a Kanzashi, a Stylish Japanese Hair Ornament - Summary If you simply insert the hairpin into your hair, it may fall out. Because of this, after inserting the hairpin into your hair, be sure to flip the hairpin over so that it catches the hair near the surface of your scalp. The video shows you how to do this in an easy-to-understand manner. [Video] 3:09 - How to Insert a Kanzashi Hairpin Into a Finished Hairstyle Kanzashi, which come in a variety of types, are easy to use and can be used in all sorts of ways, depending on your taste and the occasion. Even if you think it might be difficult to use a kanzashi, don't be afraid to give it a try. It might be easier than you thought. Yakai-maki, which can be done with a single hairpin, will make you look stylish and mature when wearing a yukata or kimono. If you're visiting any Japanese festivals this summer, be sure to try it out! -

The Yukata Is an Essential Item of Clothing for Summer Festivals and Hot Spring Trips! Learn the Tips and Tricks of Putting on a Yukata! We’ll Teach You How!

Let's Try on a Traditional Japanese Yukata! This video "Yukata and Obi (帯) belt fitting tutorial by hataori(自分でできる浴衣の着付けと帯結び by hataori)" was created by Official Hataori and shows you in detailed steps how to put on a yukata and obi belt. Yukata are traditional garments that have been worn and loved by Japanese people for centuries. There are several occasions when one can wear a yukata, such as during summer festivals when women dress in gorgeous, colorful yukata or at hot springs or public baths where men tend to wear more plain and simply decorated yukata. However, as they aren't worn very often, there aren't many people who know the correct way to put on a yukata by themselves. This video will teach you in detail how to correctly put on a yukata. Hopefully this video comes in handy the next time you have the opportunity to wear a yukata! The History of Japan's Yukata Photo:Women wearing yukata It is thought that over 1200 years ago, during the Heian Period (794-1185AD), yukata were worn as bathrobes called Yukatabira (湯帷子). Aristocrats at the time would have worn them as they bathed. During the Muromachi Period (1336-1573AD) and Edo Period (1603-1868 AD) lightweight, cotton versions of these bathrobes were worn not during, but after bathing. During the latter half of the Edo Period, it became common for people to wear yukata as more casual clothing such as when taking short trips. Tips on How to Wear a Yukata Source :YouTube screenshot From 0:22 in the video you can see how to put on a yukata. There are many small items that are essential for women when putting on a yukata, such as a Datejime (伊達締), Obiita (帯板), Obi, Obihimo (帯紐), Geta (下駄) or Zori (草履). It helps to have clips or belts to help hold things in place when putting on your yukata and also helps prevent the yukata from falling out of place. One very important item when putting on your yukata is a Koshihimo (腰紐), a cord tied around the waist that helps adjust the length of your yukata. The most elegant way to wear a yukata is to adjust the length so that the yukata is just covering the ankles. Please refer to 0:55 in the video to see how to tie a Koshihimo. When wearing a kimono, an extra layer of clothing called a Hadajuban (肌襦袢) is worn underneath the kimono. However, this is unnecessary when wearing a yukata. Source :YouTube screenshot From 3:00 in the video, you can see how to put on a Munehimo (cord wrapped around the chest area). Once the yukata is in place, it's time to wrap the Obi belt. You can see this from 5:59 in the video. For more detailed information on how to tie an obi belt, please refer to the instructions in the video. We recommended wearing your hair in a refreshing up-do when wearing a yukata. A handheld Japanese fan, such as a Sensu (扇子) or Uchiwa (団扇), also looks great with a yukata. How to Tie an Obi Belt Photo:Kimono belt There are a variety of ways to tie an obi belt. For women who are wearing a colorful yukata in the summer to a special event such as a fireworks display, we recommended tying the obi in a ribbon shape using the Bunko musubi (文庫結び) or Chou musubi (蝶結び). Once you are used to tying an obi belt, you can attempt the more difficult Hana musubi (花結び). The Kakuobi musubi (角帯結び) style of obi is typically worn by men. Yukata Fitting Summary Photo:Women wearing yukata In summer, you will find many stores selling yukata sets and there are also places where you can rent a yukata for the day. If you choose to rent a yukata, there may be someone who can help you get dressed into it, so please take advantage of this opportunity. Taking a walk outside wearing a yukata, especially one you managed to put on yourself, is sure to be a great feeling! Please make sure to use this video the next time you decide to wear a yukata! Just watching the video we're sure you'll learn something new! -

Kimono/Yukata Folding: Video Introduction This video, titled "[Kazumi Style] How to Fold a Kimono (Men's and Women's)" (Kazumi流きもの/浴衣の畳み方(男女)How to fold Kimono/Yukata), was uploaded by "kazumiryu." This is a very clear and detailed explanation of how to fold kimono and yukata, which many people have trouble with. We hope it can be of use! A Surprisingly Simple Method for Folding Kimono/Yukata! Photo:Kimono Maybe you've worn a kimono/yukata before, or perhaps you even own one but aren't sure how to properly fold it. It can seem difficult at first, but once you get the hang of it, it is surprisingly easy to do. Folding a kimono properly not only makes it compact, but also prevents wrinkles. Also, when washing a yukata at home after it has been worn, folding it and putting it in a net before washing will help prevent wrinkles. The video shows how easy it is to fold a yukata, even in a small space where you've only got about a bed's worth of space. How to Properly Fold a Kimono + Correct Folding Order Photo:A folded kimono and folding paper Let's take a look at how to fold a kimono/yukata, even in a small space. The method for folding kimono and yukata is the same for men and women too, so don't worry about that! [Folding a Kimono/Yukata] ●Folding the Bottom Half of the Kimono ・Sit in front of the kimono and place the collar on the left side ・Hold the right half (wakisen, 脇線) with both hands and fold up along the seam ・Fold the okumisen (衽線) towards your body ・Fold the left side of the kimono over the right side that you folded towards your body ・Using both hands, fold the left half completely over the right half ・Check that the seam at the center back of the kimono is straight ・Fold up the bottom part of the kimono twice ●Folding the Top Half of the Kimono ・Bring the top half of the kimono to the front ・Place the left side over the right side as you did before ・Make sure the center of the back is straight ・Fold the collar inwards a few centimeters in a triangle shape ・Fold the left sleeve over the kimono and the right under the kimono Be sure to check out the video to see a detailed, easy-to-understand video demonstration on how this is done. [Video] 0:07 - How to Fold a Kimono Kimono and yukata can be stored with care if they are properly stored. Depending on how they are stored and other factors, they may be folded two or three times. In the two-fold method, the lower half of the kimono is raised to the top to make it half the length. For a three-fold, the hem is folded once around the bottom of the sleeve to prevent wrinkles in the sleeve, and then folded in half again to make a three-fold. If you fold a kimono in the way shown in the video, you can fold it compactly even in a small space such as on a bed or table. No Floor Space? Learn Sode-Datami, a Method for Folding Kimono While Standing Up! If you've gone somewhere and you're unable to lay your kimono on the floor to be folded, there's a method called sode-datami that allows you to temporarily fold your kimono. If you learn to do this, you can temporarily fold your kimono even without a table, which is very convenient. [Sode-datami Folding Method] ・Put the kimono on backwards, with the back facing forward ・Align the sleeves by putting your arms through the cuffs ・Pull your arms out one side at a time so as not to shift the cuffs ・Hold the corner of the sleeves with one hand and the body of the kimono with the other hand from the top ・Fold the sleeves over the front of the body of the kimono ・Hold the kimono with both hands and adjust the kimono so that it is straight ・Hold the top and bottom of the kimono so that it does not fall apart, and fold the top part of the kimono towards the bottom half ・Fold it in half once more to complete the sode-datami folding method Sode-datami is a method of folding yukata and kimono for temporary storage. For example, when you are out and have little time. However, when you return home, you should fold the kimono properly before storing it. [Different Methods for Folding Kimono] There are several methods for folding kimono: ・Hon-datami ・Sode-datami ・Yogi-datami ・Juban-datami ・Haori-datami Summary of How to Fold Kimono/Yukata Photo:A woman wearing a yukata In addition to wearing yukata to fireworks displays and summer festivals in Japan people also wear kimono for occasions like Miyamairi (a shrine visit for newborns), Shichi-Go-San, Coming-of-Age Day, graduation ceremonies, and even weddings. Although you might have the chance to wear a kimono, you might not have the chance to fold one. Especially in the case of rental items, stores generally take care of the cleanup afterwards, so there are even many Japanese people who have never seen how to fold kimono. Kimono and yukata have an image of being somewhat difficult to fold, so start by practicing sode-datami. From there you can learn to fold a kimono properly with the help of a video or something. Once you get the hang of it, it is surprisingly easy to fold a kimono! The kimono folding method introduced here can also be applied to furisode and nagajuban. If you ever find yourself trying to fold a kimono, be sure to use this article/video as a guide! -

Video Introduction This video, titled "[Kazumi Style] How to Put on a Yukata for Men" (Kazumi流男ゆかたの着かた How to put on Yukata for men), was uploaded by "kazumiryu." There are few chances to wear yukata in Japan, summer festivals, fireworks displays, and other summer events, are a few such occasions. You might also get the chance when staying at a ryokan (traditional Japanese inn) or hotel during a vacation. However, since there are so few opportunities to wear yukata, even in Japan, when it comes time to put one on it can be quite the challenge. Being able to wear a yukata cool and comfortably will make you look nice and stylish! If you're looking to learn how to put on a men's yukata, then you came to the right place! Be sure to check out the video as you follow along! How to Properly Put on a Yukata. Right? Left? Which Side Goes on the Outside? Photo:A man and woman wearing yukata at a hot spring inn Yukata are always provided when staying at a hot spring resort in Japan. Many people do not know how to properly wear one, so they just throw it on and call it good. Some may say, "Well, no one's watching so, who cares?", but there is one point you need to be aware of. While it might be okay to throw it on without caring about how well it's shaped, you should at least know which side goes in and which side goes out. As long as you remember right hand in, left hand out, you shouldn't have too many problems. It may be easy to make a mistake when wearing a yukata or kimono if you're not used to the undergarments, etc. In the case of yukata, kimono, and other Japanese-style clothing, it's said to be bad luck to wear the left side in and the right side out. This is because this is how the deceased would be dressed in burial clothes. Be careful not to make this mistake! Wearing a yukata at a ryokan is fairly easy, but it's important to first select a yukata that is appropriate for your height. Since the length of the yukata is can't be adjusted like women's yukata, choose a size that sits above your ankles when worn. 1. Wear the robe so that it is evenly distributed on both sides. 2. Wrap the right side of the robe around the left hip while holding both sides of the yukata. While doing this, hold the left side firmly so your other hand is taut. 3. Wrap the left side of the yukata around the right hip, and tie the obi (sash) in a bow above the hip bone or below the belly button. 4. If you are a man and want to wear the yukata in a cool way, turn the knot clockwise and shift it to either the left or right side of the back. Be careful not to turn the obi around to the opposite side, as this will cause the yukata to become loose. Everything You Need for Wearing a Men's Yukata! Photo:Yukata at a hot spring inn Next, we'll go over how to make a yukata look more dignified. we'll explain, how to look cool while wearing a men's yukata. First, here's what you'll need in order to put on a yukata: ・Yukata ・Hadagi (undergarments) ※If you don't have hadagi, a v-neck shirt will do ・Koshi-himo (waist cord) It's recommended that you wear undergarments that fit to prevent the yukata from clinging to your body due to perspiration. A koshi-himo (waist cord) will keep the yukata firmly in place and keep the yukata looking great without falling out of place. In recent years, there are elastic waist cords whose length can be adjusted as well. Tips for Putting on a Yukata for Men Photo:A man wearing a yukata There are several points to keep in mind when wearing a yukata as a man. Let's look at them together. ・Right Side In As mentioned above, the yukata should be worn with the right on the inside. Be careful not to get this backwards. ・Wear a Yukata Appropriate for Your Height For men, it's especially important to choose a yukata that is appropriate for their height. This is because men's yukata are not adjustable like women's yukata. ・Be Careful Where You Tie the Waist Cord The waist cord should be tied above the hip bone or below the belly button. If you tie it too high, it will look childish. How to Put on a Yukata for Men + Pointers Photo:Putting on a yukata Now that you have everything you need to wear a yukata and you're familiar with some of the do's and don'ts, it's time to put it on. Below we will tell you how to put it on, along with some tips. In particular, a beautiful V-line around the neck will make you look cool in a yukata. 1. Put on the undergarments. 2. Put on the yukata and keep the waist cord over your right shoulder. 3. To wrap the yukata tightly around the hips, grasp the collars firmly with both hands and pull them forward. At this time, make sure the left side seam is hanging straight down. 4. Check the position of the yukata in your left hand, as this will be the side that goes on the outside. Once the yukata is in place, return your hands to their original positions while making sure that the height does not change. 5. Pull the yukata held in your right hand diagonally down to the left, and hold it around your left waist with the side held in your left hand on top, as if to cover the yukata. 6. Place the koshi-himo (waist cord) in front of the stomach, slightly above the hip, and wrap it around your waist on both sides. Cross it behind your back and tighten it once. When tightening, pull in your stomach and tighten it really tight so that it knocks a little bit of air out of you, and then bring the waist cord to the front. 7. Tie the waist cord in one knot on either side, avoiding the middle. The end of the cord should be tucked inside. 8. Finally, place your right hand inside the bosom of the yukata and lightly tap it downwards to adjust the shape of the yukata. A tight collar is recommended for beginners. Summary of How to Put on a Yukata for Men This video ends with only the dressing of the kimono, but on kazumiryu's channel, they explain and obi knot called "kai no kuchi." This knot is often used for men's yukata, be sure to check it out with us! If you want to wear a yukata to a festival, Bon Odori, fireworks display, or other traditional Japanese event, but don't have one, you can always use a kimono rental store. When you wear a yukata, you'll naturally look more graceful. Women tend to be noticed for their gorgeous yukata, but as a man, if you know how to wear a yukata properly, you'll stand out just as much. One of the most important parts is getting that defined v-line to make the yukata look even better. If you go out to one of Japan's summer festivals dressed in yukata while wearing geta shoes, you're sure to have a memorable experience! -

In the video, two women are shown enjoying a trip to the Yunoyama Onsen Morii Ryokan. We see everything from the old-fashioned exterior to the steam onsen baths, and also get a look at natural scenery, delicious cuisine, high-quality service, and more Yunoyama Onsen Morii Ryokan is highly-rated on hotel review and ranking sites as well. You’ll feel the urge to visit Hiroshima’s Yunoyama Onsen Morii Ryokan after watching this video! Yunoyama Onsen: A Place Where Even the Feudal Lords of Hiroshima Have Bathed Source :YouTube screenshot Yunoyama Onsen is a natural hot spring in Hiroshima Prefecture, Hiroshima City, Saeki Ward, in the Chugoku region of Japan (中国地方広島県広島市佐伯区, Chugoku-chiho Hiroshima-ken Hiroshima-shi Saeki-ku). The waters of the hot spring, which have been flowing for generations, are known as the Yunoyama Myojin Reiken-no-yu (湯ノ山明神霊験の湯, Yunoyama myojin reiken-no-yu), and the sanatorium itself is a spiritual place where many come to worship. Yunoyama Onsen has a long history, with its waters beginning to flow in 1707, more than 300 years ago. In 1750, the Hiroshima Clan constructed the sanatorium, Yunoyama Myojinja (湯の山明神社, Yunoyama myojinja), which was later designated an Important Intangible Folk-Cultural Property of Japan. The head of the clan, Asano Yoshinaga, bathed in these waters. The Yunoyama Onsen of that time was as busy and bustling as 37 hot spring hotels, with many coming to visit. At 0:07 in the video, you can see a signboard on which is written “Hiroshima Clan Head Asano Sanatorium.” The history and origin of the Yunoyama Onsen is also recorded in Japan’s ancient history tomes. 1958 Yunoyama Sanatorium (湯之山旧湯治場, Yunoyama kyu-tojiba) was designated a Historic Site of Hiroshima Prefecture. 1972 Together with Yuki Onsen (湯来温泉, Yuki onsen), the Yuki・Yunoyama Onsen (湯来・湯の山温泉, Yuki・Yunoyama onsen) was designated a National Hot Spring Health Resort by the Minister of the Environment, and it became an exceedingly popular destination. This designation refers to hot springs which are suitable for promoting health and relaxation, with only 21 hot springs in all of Japan awarded this honor. 1974 Yunoyama Myojin Kyu-tojiba was designated an Important Tangible Folk-Cultural Property of Japan. The Yunoyama Onsen, run by Yukicho, was opened. 1991 “Yuki Yunoyama Onsen” was designated a National Hot Spring Health Resort especially suitable for the promotion of health. 1994 Kua House Yunoyama (クアハウス湯の山, Kua hausu yunoyama), run by Yukicho, was opened. Yunoyama Onsen was selected as one of the top hot springs in Japan for recuperation. The waters are unique in that they contain weak radioactive substances, and the temperature is a low 23.5 degrees celsius (74° F). The waters are effective for easing the symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis, poor circulation, mild hypertension and chronic disease. As shown in the video, there are two hotels near Yunoyama Onsen, namely the Yunoyama Onsen Morii Ryokan and the Yunoyama Onsenkan. At the Yunoyama Onsenkan, the Utase-yu (打たせ湯, Utase-yu), where water falls from an outcrop 4 meters high, is quite famous. About Hiroshima’s Yunoyama Onsen Morii Ryokan Source :YouTube screenshot Yunoyama Onsen Morii Ryokan is a hot spring hotel located at Hiroshima Prefecture, Hiroshima City, Saeki Ward, Yukicho, Wada 464湯来町和田464, Yukicho wada 464). It takes about 40 minutes from the Itsukaichi IC on the Sanyo Expressway (山陽自動車道の五日市IC, Sanyo jidosha-do no itsukaichi IC) to get there. Free parking is available. Another method is to take the bus from the Itsukaichi Station off the JR Sanyo Main Line (山陽本線JR五日市駅, Sanyo honsen JR itsukaichi-eki). The trip takes approximately 60 minutes. Constructed in 1935, more than 80 years ago, this is a hot spring area which upholds the value of “local production for local consumption.” The bath itself being a small, homely size with few rooms, this hotel is not one of those fashionable places generating buzz on travel sites. However, for the purpose of soaking up the simple atmosphere of the Showa era, and having a relaxing time, this place is the perfect getaway. There is a private onsen available for booking as well. It's introduced at 0:47 in the video. As for meals, the wild game nabe (hot pot) with boar meat purchased from local huntsmen, as well as dishes made using seasonal local produce, are popular. This is shown at 0:33 in the video. A day trip plan is available, where you can make use of the private bath as well as the rooms, with lunch provided. As for overnight stays, there are a variety of plans available, such as the provision of meals made with seasonal produce, a business plan, training camps, stays lasting for more than two nights, and more. Information About the Surroundings of Yunoyama Onsen Morii Ryokan Photo:Yunoyama doctor fish footbath Nearby Yunoyama Onsen Morii Ryokan is Kua House Yunoyama, which is equipped with water slides and an indoor hot spring pool. A hot spring meant for day trips is also available. Located in Kua House Yunoyama’s parking lot is the Kinsai Yunoyama (きんさい湯の山, Kinsai yunoyama), a farm-fresh produce delivery market. Locally-produced fresh vegetables, rice, homemade konnyaku jelly and more; there are a variety of seasonal goods available which cannot be found anywhere else. Furthermore, there is even the Yunoyama Footbath (湯の山の足湯, Yunoyama-no-ashiyu), with "doctor fish." There, you can soak to your heart’s content in the sacred waters of Yunoyama Myojinja. The facilities are open 24 hours. There is no designated fee, so all you have to do is place coins into the offering box as you see fit. As shown from 0:49 in the video, there are weeping cherry trees (枝垂れ桜, Shidare-zakura) both at the entrance of the Yunoyama Onsen as well as inside the shrine. This sight can be enjoyed throughout the four seasons. Summary of Hiroshima’s Yunoyama Onsen Morii Ryokan In Hiroshima, there are many hot spring areas such as Miyahama Onsen (宮浜温泉, Miyahama onsen), Hiroshima Onsen (広島温泉, Hiroshima onsen), Kinoe Onsen (きのえ温泉, Kinoe onsen), Ryu Onsen (龍温泉, Ryu-onsen), Megadaira Onsen (女鹿平温泉, Megadaira onsen), Kimita Onsen (君田温泉, Kimita onsen), Yuki Onsen (湯来温泉, Yurai onsen), Tomo-no-Ura Onsen (鞆の浦温泉, Tomo-no-ura onsen), Nukui Onsen (温井温泉, Nukui onsen), Shobara Sakura Onsen (庄原さくら温泉, Shobara sakura onsen), Miharashi Onsen (みはらし温泉, Miharashi onsen), and more. When visiting Hiroshima, we recommend taking a bath and relaxing in the hot springs. Although Yunoyama Onsen is not a ‘fashionable’ place by any means, what it is, is a place with rich history, and springs so amazing that even feudal lords bathed in them. Enjoy soaking up the simple atmosphere reminiscent of the Showa era, at Yunoyama Onsen. ◆Yunoyama Onsen Morii Ryokan Facilities Overview◆ 【Address】〒738-0601 Hiroshima Prefecture, Hiroshima City, Saeki Ward, Yukicho Wada 464 【Access】60 minutes by bus from JR Sanyo Main Line Itsukaichi Station 【Parking】Available 【Phone Number】0829-83-0403 【Tripadvisor】Yunoyama Onsen Morii Ryokan https://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g298561-d10023044-Reviews-Morii_Ryokan-Hiroshima_Hiroshima_Prefecture_Chugoku.html -

Japan is colored by the nature of the four seasons. Tokyo is the capital and has many popular sightseeing spots where the past and present intersect. In Japan, there is a tradition of enjoying the coolness of the summer months by making various efforts to avoid the hot weather. The gentle, cool sound of wind chimes and the sprinkling of water along roads and in gardens to relieve the heat have become an ancient Japanese tradition. This is one of those summer festivals that have been passed down throughout Tokyo, and we present it to you with high quality 4K video clips. Nowadays, many foreign tourists come to Japan for these summer festivals, and this article and video will give you information about Japan's most popular summer festivals across the globe. Tokyo's summer festival "Jindaiji Ondo Matsuri (Hozuki Festival) Photo:Hozuki We'll start with "Jindaiji hozuki matsuri," introduced at 0:42 in the video. This festival is held at a Jindaiji Temple in Chofu City, Tokyo, where spirits are welcomed with lantern-like "hozuki" decorations. The sound of the water flowing in the Chozusha provides a cooling effect in the hot Tokyo summer. The 2023 Jindaiji Ondo Festival was held for the first time in four years. Although no sales of hozuki were held, an Ondo Happy Gate made of beautiful orange hozuki was set up in front of the Jindaiji temple gate from July 13 to August 15. This festival is held on July 9th and 10th on Asakusa Nakamise Street, and can be seen from 2:04 in the video. The solanaceae perennial "Hozuki" is written in Kanji as 鬼灯 (devil's lamp). Japan's "oni" (demons) are a scary image, but before Buddhism became popular among the common people, it was believed that human souls would leave their bodies and become oni. In other words, oni were a subject of worship as well as fear. It is said that when the idea of Shinto and Buddhist practices were established, hozuki, whose shape resembled a lantern, were used as a guidepost to guide the souls of ancestors who had turned into souls/oni. Based on the Buddhist belief that the spirits of the dead become Buddhas, Hozuki-ichi was established as a summer evening festival at Sensoji Temple. Many people wear yukata and enjoy shooting games and goldfish scooping, as well as yakisoba and takoyaki, staples of the festival. This "Hozuki-Ichi" has another special meaning as well. It is also known as the "46,000 days" If you visit Sensoji Temple on this day, you will be recognized by the Goddess Kannon for having accumulated 46,000 days of virtue. It's great to be able to gain virture while having fun. At Sensoji Temple, "yellow fuda" and "thunderbolt-removal fuda," which are prayer cards, can be awarded only during the two days of the Hozuki-Market. Various types of goldfish will be on display and for sale, as well as a variety of breeding products, and there's also the very popular luxury goldfish scooping event. There are kimono rental stores in Ginza where you can rent a complete set of yukata, so feel free to enjoy wearing a yukata. Information on the "Yukata de Ginbura" in 2024 is as follows. Tokyo Summer Festival "Sumiyoshi Shrine Festival" 2024 At 4:27 of the video, you can see the Yin Matsuri of the "Sumiyoshi Shrine Festival". The main festival, held once every three years, includes the unveiling of the lion head and octagonal portable shrines and the boat-tingo, in which the portable shrines are further carried on boats. The three pairs of lion heads are carried by young men, and the day before the parade of the mikoshi, they go around the town to purify the mikoshi by purifying it of evil spirits. The octagonal mikoshi, designated as a folk tangible cultural property of Chuo City and rare in the Kanto region, also makes its rounds. The video shows the shrine parishioners carrying the mikoshi sprinkling water on it to cool off. Information on the "Sumiyoshi Shrine Festival" in 2024 is as follows. Dates: Tuesday, August 6 and Wednesday, August 7, 2024 Location: Sumiyoshi Shrine and Tsukishima area Access: 10-minute walk from Tokyo Metro Tsukishima Station Bon Dance in Tokyo "Zojoji Temple, Jizo Son Bon Dance Festival" 2024 You can see Bon Odori from 7:06 in the video. Various summer festivals are held in various parts of Japan, and among them, Bon Odori is a very festive summer festival. In recent years, Bon Odori has attracted attention from overseas as a very unique event. Lively music and drums, as well as stalls and yukata, are the standard features of Bon Odori. People dressed in yukata and jinbei form a circle around a Yagura (tower) and dance happily with fans. This is an important part of the festival as you can enjoy the company of your ancestors that have returned to Obon. (It is a time when Buddhists remember people in their family who have died). "Tokyo Ondo" is the most popular Bon dance in Tokyo, but the choreography differs by region. It would be fun to learn how to dance all the Tokyo Ondos in the 23 wards and become a Tokyo Ondo Master. In addition to the Tokyo Ondo, Tokyo's Bon Dancing is also known for its unique theme songs. Songs from “Ikyyu San” based on the monk (Rinzai sect, Ikkyu Sojun) of the Muromachi period (1336 to 1573 AD), as well as world-renowned songs like Living on a Prayer by rock musician Bon Jovi, are used to create a unique experience. Bon Jovi even mentioned it on his twitter page and it was a hot topic for a minute. One of the characteristics of Bon Odori is that it is highly diverse, not bound by tradition. The Jizo Bon Dance Festival at Zojoji Temple is held in the immediate vicinity of Tokyo Tower, the symbol of Tokyo. Many windmills can be seen at the Jizo-san of Zojoji Temple. Dancing with windmills, which can be purchased at booths at the Bon Odori Festival, attached to the sashes of yukata (light cotton kimono) may be seen only at the Bon Odori Festival at Zojoji Temple. Information on the Jizo Bon Dance Festival to be held at Zojoji Temple in 2024 is as follows. Dates: Friday, July 19 and Saturday, July 20, 2024 Time: 18:00 - 21:00 *Jizoson memorial service starts at 17:30 Place: Zojo-ji Temple, plaza in front of the Main Hall Access:10 min. walk from Hamamatsucho Sta. on JR line or Tokyo Monorail. *For details, please check the official website. Sumidagawa Fireworks Festival" and "Itabashi Fireworks Festival" in Tokyo 2024 Photo:Fireworks The Sumida River in Tokyo Bay and the Jingu Shrine, which are crowded with people in yukata every year, are also popular places to visit in Tokyo. This can be seen at 9:35 in the video. Did you know that these fireworks have a spiritual meaning as well? The loud noise of fireworks is a deliberate design, and summer was a time when infections and food poisoning were more likely to occur In the Edo period (1603-1867), when medicine was not as advanced as it is today. The loud sound of fireworks was used to exorcise evil and bring good health. It is said that prayers were made at the beginning of the fireworks display. It is said that the origin of the ceremony comes from the practice of beating drums when paying a visit to a shrine, and the beating of drums at festivals and Bon Odori. Video introduction of summer sightseeing spots in Echizen-cho, Niu-gun, Fukui Prefecture The video “JAPAN TRIP ECHIZEN COLORS – Summer/ Echizen-town Tourism Promotional Video” is created by “Tourism Echizen JAPAN Channel/ Echizen-town Tourism Federation Fukui Prefecture.” It's a promotional video for Echizen, Fukui prefecture, that introduces sightseeing destinations and local cuisine. Echizen is known for Echizen-crab, a brand of snow crab (queen crab). In summer, there's gorgeous views, marine activities, traditional fireworks and festivals to be enjoyed in Echizen. In this article, we'll introduce recommended destinations and food you should try. The video is taken by drone, so you get some beautiful aerial footage. By the time it ends, you'll be itching to go to Echizen! What is Echizen Like? Photo:Echizen Ono Castle in the Sky, Fukui Prefecture In 2005, the 4 towns of Asahi, Miyazaki, Echizen and Oda, merged together and formed Echizen. The population of Echizen is 21,500. (as of April, 2019) Echizen sits on the coast of the Sea of Japan and its roughly 2 and a half hours from Kyoto by car. There is no train or highways, so you can feel the beauty of the surrounding natural environment. We recommend going by car or rental car. Where's That Beach Shown in the Video? Photo:Kochou gate From 0:10 in the video, we see the main tourist attraction (with a beautiful view), Echizen Coast. Echizen coast is one of the three major places where bunch-flower daffodils are grown. Awaji Island (淡路島, Awajishima) and Boso Peninsula (房総半島, Bosohatou) are the other two areas. The bunch-flower daffodil is the city and prefecture flower. Echizen coast is a Quasi-National Parks, with upheaved seashore. Driving along the coast and seeing the large tunnel, eroded by wind and waves is very popular. Echizen cape was also chosen in the top 100 sunsets of Japan. Scuba diving at the beautiful Echizen coast is popular among tourists in summer. It can be seen at 0:28 in the video. Here, you can try diving and snorkeling as well, without the need for a license. There are a lot of sea-bathing places in Echizen with sandy beaches and rock shores. Families with children can enjoy endless fun here. Enjoy the Culture, Nature and Food of Echizen Source :YouTube screenshot If you head toward the inland from the Sea of Japan, you can see rural landscapes and beautiful green mountains. By visiting the Echizenkogama Museum, (越前古窯博物館, Echizenkogama hakubutsukan) you can learn about the history and techniques of Echizen ware, a Japan Heritage, as well as see one of the six ancient kilns of Japan. You can also enjoy 5 different kinds of hot springs here. The rice field art introduced at 1:09 is breathtaking. Definitely check it out! After sightseeing and enjoying some marine activities, we recommend trying local cuisine. Especially the Echizen soba, packed with grated Japanese radish, and fresh seafood. Usuya Shokuhin’s Ota Tofu is also popular as a souvenir. It uses only domestically grown soybeans. Usuya Shokuhin was established in 1854, in Echizen-cho Ota, which also happens to be the birthplace of Oda Nobunaga’s (one of the three great unifiers of Japan) clan. Another great thing to try during summer in Echizen is the squid-fishing experience. Riding on a fishing boat at night, turning on a fishing lamp and catching squid is sure to make for a lifelong memory. The food in Echizen can be seen from 1:12 in the video. Enjoying both sightseeing and delicious food on vacation... what more could you ask for? Fifty-thousand tourists visit the port town every year to see the amazing fireworks. “Asahi festival” is a fantastic festival where 20 Andon floats pass in front of the town hall. In Ota, there's a tradition called “Myoujin Bayashi” dedicated to “Tsurugi Shrine” (劔神社, Turugi jinjya) where Lord Oda Nobunaga worshipped. Currently, there is an event called “Ota Festival &O・TA・I・KO Hibike” in mid-August, where you can listen to powerful drum performances. The information is shown in the video at 2:00.
