Introducing the Metropolitan Area Outer Underground Discharge Channel of Saitama Prefecture This video, titled "Metropolitan Area Outer Underground Discharge Channel [Saitama Prefecture Official Sightseeing Video]" (首都圏外郭放水路【埼玉県公式観光動画】), was released by "Chokotabi Saitama." The Metropolitan Area Outer Underground Discharge Channel, also known as the "Underground Parthenon," is one of the largest underground drainage channels in the world, designed to protect the eastern area of Saitama Prefecture from floods. The Metropolitan Area Outer Underground Discharge Channel is a tunneling shield constructed using the muddy-shield type method, and boasts a length of about 6.3 km with an inner diameter of about 10 m. Enjoy the video of the beautiful underground drainage channel, reminiscent of a temple, in Kasukabe City, Saitama Prefecture. A Closer Look at the Metropolitan Area Outer Underground Discharge Channel Introduced in the Video Photo:The Metropolitan Area Outer Underground Discharge Channel, Saitama Prefecture The Metropolitan Area Outer Underground Discharge Channel is a flood protection facility built by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism; and Kasukabe City is in charge of its maintenance. It began being used in June 2006. The official nickname is "Sairyu no Kawa" (the River of Sairyu) but it is also referred to as an underground temple. It is a class A river (specified waterways of special importance protected by the government) belonging to the Tone River system and is a ministerial management section (section outside the designated section) under direct control of the national government. The Metropolitan Area Outer Underground Discharge Channel, which is located directly under the National Route 16 highway, has the ability to reduce flooding in the Naka River, Kuramatsu River, Ootoshi Furutone River, No.18 Channel, and the Komatsu River. The Function of the Metropolitan Area Outer Underground Discharge Channel Photo:The Metropolitan Area Outer Underground Discharge Channel The Metropolitan Area Outer Underground Discharge Channel, located 22m underground, is 177m long, 78m wide, and 18m tall. Each pillar weighs 500 tons, and 59 of them line the inside of the channel. You can see the pillars lined up in the facility from 1:05 in the video. The Metropolitan Area Outer Underground Discharge Channel consists of an "inflow facility" and a "vertical shaft," a "tunnel" that drains floods, a "pressure control water tank" that weakens the force of water and secures the flow, and a "drainage pump station" that discharges floods. In the event of a flood, rainwater is stored in the Metropolitan Area Outer Underground Discharge Channel and then pumped out to the Edo River to prevent damage. During Typhoon No. 19 in 2019, it helped to dramatically deter damage by filling with water to 90% of its maximum capacity. Summary of the Metropolitan Area Outer Underground Discharge Channel of Saitama Prefecture Photo:The Metropolitan Area Outer Underground Discharge Channel The Metropolitan Area Outer Underground Discharge Channel is a comprehensive and lifelong learning facility, and you can tour the inside of the pressure-regulating water tank that is introduced in the video (reservations are required). During the tour, you can see the operation room show at 0:37 in the video, and the first vertical shaft that you can see from 1:48 that guides the drainage from the river, so if you want to experience one of the safeguards protecting Saitama from mother nature, be sure to visit the facility. If you want to tour the facility, be sure to stay on the lookout for the Showa Drainage Pump Station that can be seen from 0:21 in the video, in the underground exploration museum for the Metropolitan Area Outer Underground Discharge Channel, which is also called "Ryu Q Kan." 【Metropolitan Area Outer Underground Discharge Channel】 【Address】720 Kamikanasaki Kasukabe City, Saitama Prefecture 【Access】10 minutes by car or bus from Tobu Noda Line Minami-Sakurai Station 【Official Website】Metropolitan Area Outer Underground Discharge Channel https://www.ktr.mlit.go.jp/edogawa//edogawa_index045.html 【Tripadvisor】Metropolitan Area Outer Underground Discharge Channel https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g1021410-d12864760-Reviews-The_Metropolitan_Area_Outer_Underground_Discharge_Channel-Kasukabe_Saitama_Pref.html -

It introduces a breathtaking light up event at Okayama Castle in Okayama Prefecture. Okayama Castle is also known as "Crow Castle" or "Golden Crow Castle" because of its black lacquered appearance, and is designated as a National Historic Site. Three times a year at Okayama Castle (spring, summer, and autumn), a fantastic event called "Ujo-Tougenkyo" (summer) is held, and you can see the fantastical scenery in this 4K video. What Kind of Event Is Ujo Togenkyo, the Light Up Event at Okayama Castle? Photo:The Okayama Castle light up event, Okayama City, Okayama Prefecture Okayama Castle is often called "Crow Castle" after the black lacquered walls built at the order of Toyotomi Hideyoshi during the rule of the Ukita clan. Later, the lord of Okayama Castle changed from Kobayakawa Hideaki to the Ikeda clan, but its majestic appearance has remained unchanged and continues to delight visitors to the castle. In addition, Korakuen Garden was built when the Ikeda Clan ruled the castle, and visitors can still feel the relaxing atmosphere of that time. Ujo Tougenkyo is a seasonal light up event held at Okayama Castle. The theme of the event is "a soft light surrounding the castle," and the castle tower and its surroundings are lit up to the delight of many tourists every year. The area around the castle is decorated with paper lanterns, garden lanterns, and candles, and the scenery is nothing short of fantastic. You can see the beautiful, mystical scenery of Okayama Castle during the event throughout the video, including the trees surrounding the castle glowing in a variety of colors from 0:39 in the video. At "Castle Tea House - Yuki" (お城茶屋ゆき, Oshiro Chaya Yuki) in Okayama Castle's castle tower, visitors can enjoy both food and a variety of sweet treats. In particular, the popular "castle parfait" was depicted in the famous anime "Detective Conan" (Case Closed) with scenes of Conan and Kogoro Mouri eating it, sparking its popularity. Okayama Castle is currently closed for renovation in preparation for its renewal/reopening in November 2022. However, to coincide with the renovation, a new logo using the family crest was unveiled, and the duo "Okayama Ninja" appeared at events in and around the city, donning their black and gold gear to liven up Okayama Castle. Nanao Castle – An Introductory Video on One of the Top 100 Castles of Japan This video, titled "Nanao Castle in ISHIKAWA, JAPAN / #34 of the Top 100 Castles of Japan|4K" (【石川/日本100名城】七尾城/難攻不落の天宮 4K - Nanao castle in ISHIKAWA, JAPAN / The Top 100 Castles in Japan No.34 -), was uploaded by "channel WASABI." Introduces the ruins of Nanao Castle, a mountain castle in Nanao, Ishikawa, in Japan's Koshinetsu region, in beautiful 4K quality! Nanao Castle, one of the Top 100 Castles of Japan and a Nationally Designated Historic Site, is located at an elevation of 300m, overlooking Nanao Bay and the Noto Peninsula from the honmaru (inner citadel). Nanao Castle was considered an impregnable fortress during its prime, and you can still see the stone walls where the major parts of the castle were previously located. In this article, we'll introduce tourist information and travel tips for anyone planning to visit Nanao Castle. The video introduces the breathtaking scenery of Nanao Castle, a vast area located on a mountain ridge in the forests of Japan. For those who have studied or are interested in Japanese history, it paints a good picture of what the Sengoku Period (Japan's warring states period; around 1467 - 1615 AD) was like. Exploring the History of Nanao Castle Photo:Nanao Castle inner bailey ruins, Nanao, Ishikawa Nanao Castle is a mountain castle with a "kuruwa" (castle wall) on each of the seven ridges: Matsuo, Takeo, Umeo, Kikuo, Kameo, Torao, Tatsuo. There are still references that show it was also referred to as "Matsuo Castle," written both "松尾城" and "末尾城" (same pronunciation different kanji/spelling). Nanao Castle was built in the first half of the 16th century as the residence of the Hatakeyama Clan, a Japanese samurai clan who governed the province of Noto. It is a fortified castle that is said to be one of the Five Great Mountain Castles of Japan, and it fell after a roughly year-long battle with Uesugi Kenshin's forces. After that, Oda Nobunaga appointed Maeda Toshiie as Lord of Noto giving him the castle, however, after Toshiie moved to Kanazawa Castle, Nanao Castle was abandoned. Nanao Castle - Highlights and Tourist Information Photo:The view from Nanao Castle, Nanao, Ishikawa Nanao Castle is a large mountain castle. Highlights of Nanao Castle include the many stone walls that remain in nearly the same condition they were in hundreds of years ago, as well as the scenery of Nanao Bay and the Noto Peninsula which can be seen from the top of the mountain. The climbing route to reach Nanao Castle is covered with wood chips, but we recommended wearing shoes that are easy to walk in. If you want to climb from the foot of the mountain, you can use the Nanao Castle Trailhead Parking Lot (七尾城登山口駐車場), or you can park your car in the parking lot of the Nanao Castle History Museum and purchase a Nanao Castle Seal Stamp or a memorial stamp of the Top 100 Castles of Japan before starting your hike. At the Nanao Castle History Museum, visitors can explore exhibits such as excavated items related to Nanao Castle and reconstructions of Nanao Castle via computer generated architecture. In addition, the Nationally Registered Cultural Property "Kaikokan" (the former Iida family residence), which is adjacent to the museum, is another tourist attraction worth checking out. The time required to climb the mountain is about ~40 minutes from the parking lot of the Nanao Castle History Museum, following the formerly used road to the honmaru (inner citadel) ruins. There is also a 150-minute course for those looking to really explore and conquer the vast grounds of Nanao Castle. Photo:Nanao Station If you visit Nanao Castle via public transportation, you can reach the Nanao Castle History Museum from "Nanao Station" on the JR Nanao Line by taking the city circuit bus "Marin-go" (まりん号) and getting off at "Joyama no Sato" (城山の里). From there it's about a 60-minute walk. The stone wall of the Sakurababa Bailey Ruins above Chodo-maru (a former weapon's warehouse) is shown at 0:40 in the video, and the stone wall of the Honmaru Ruins at 2:42 are some of the highlights of Nanao Castle. There's also a shrine in the honmaru, and the scenery you can see from the Nanao Joyama Observatory, which is known to have been praised by Uesugi Kenshin, is shown at 3:52 in the video. Summary of the Nanao Castle Ruins This video, titled "Nanao Castle in ISHIKAWA, JAPAN / #34 of the Top 100 Castles of Japan|4K," introduces Nanao Castle, a formerly impregnable mountain castle in Ishikawa Prefecture, in beautiful 4K. Konzoji Temple - A Scenic Location in Kyoto in 4K This video, titled "[4K] Concept of OKU, KONZO-JI Temple of Kyoto" ([4K] Concept of OKU, KONZO-JI Temple of Kyoto ”奥” 金蔵寺 京都の寺), was uploaded by "Yurara Sarara," a channel that introduces Japanese culture through video. It introduces Konzoji Temple located in Oshioyama, Kyoto. Kyoto's Konzoji Temple, shown in the video, was built during Japan's Nara period (710-794 AD) as a temple of the Tendai sect of Buddhism. Later, it was destroyed by fire during the Onin War, but was rebuilt by Keishoin, the mother of the 5th Tokugawa shogun, Tokugawa Tsunayoshi, during the Edo period (1603-1868 AD). Enjoy the beautiful appearance of the temple in this short, 4K video. Konzoji – A Mountain Temple Full of Beauty Photo:Beautiful greenery at Konzoji Temple, Kyoto Konzoji Temple is located in the Rakusai area of Kyoto, on the hillside of Mt. Oshio, a mountain with an elevation of 642m. During the Heian period (794-1185 AD), it was called "Iwakura of the West" and is said to have been revered by people. One of the best places to visit in Konzoji Temple is the 12-meter-tall "San no Taki" (産の滝), a waterfall that can be seen at 1:13 in the video. The name "San no Taki" (産の滝: lit. "waterfall of birth") comes from the fact that Mukojin, the deity of Muko Shrine, was born near this waterfall. The next thing to see at Konzoji Temple is the many halls on the temple grounds. The main hall of Konzoji Temple was reconstructed during the Edo period (1603-1868) by Keishoin and houses the eleven-faced thousand-armed Kannon statue, the principal deity of the temple. The Kaizando Hall is a magnificent hall made of all-cypress and enshrines successive generations of priests including Zen Master Takatoyo, the founder of Konzoji Temple. Behind the main hall of Konzoji Temple, there's the Atago Gongen Hall, which enshrines Atago Gongen, and houses a statue of the Jogun Jizo (勝軍地蔵), a jizo said to be able to defeat an army. The statue of the Jogun Jizo is enshrined in this hall, which is open only during the Buddhist memorial service held on April 23 every year. Furthermore, Konzoji Temple has an observatory, and if you head east from Shimonogawa Benzaiten (下の川弁財天, a small shrine), you can enjoy an observatory with a panoramic view of Kyoto City. We recommend checking out the view when visiting the temple. Konzoji Temple - A Hidden Gem for Enjoying Autumn Leaves! Photo:Autumn leaves at Konzoji Temple, Kyoto Konzoji Temple is rarely visited by people, and the people you do see there are usually those who enjoy hiking. However, in early summer, there is a lot of greenery and it is a very pleasant spot to take a leisurely tour of the temple grounds. Konzoji is also known for the beauty of the green maple leaves, and it is the perfect place to experience the nature of Japan. Konzoji Temple also takes on a new appearance during the autumn months. The beautiful autumn colors that can be seen here have turned the temple into a hidden gem for viewing the breathtaking foliage of the season. Because it's located on the mountainside, the temperature varies greatly between morning and evening, and it's a great place to enjoy the spectacular autumn leaves. In particular, the path from Nio-mon Gate to the main hall is surrounded by autumn leaves creating a sort of tunnel of foliage, and is famous locally for its eye-catching beauty. Konzoji Temple is a tourist spot where you can enjoy beautiful greenery in the summer and orange and red autumn leaves in the fall. There is a parking lot you can use when accessing Konzoji Temple via car, but please note that there are some steep roads. When coming by bus, it's about an hour on foot as the nearest bus stop is quite far. That being said, if you're looking to get some hiking or exercise in, or just want to explore something new, this is definitely a place to check out. Summary of Kyoto's Beautiful Konzoji Temple As introduced in this article, Konzoji Temple is a place where you can enjoy the beautiful nature of Japan. In addition, many Shigaraki ware tanuki (raccoon dogs) figures can be found in the area, and the figure of a tanuki enjoying sake is becoming popular as an Instagram icon. The quaint appearance of the halls standing amongst the green maples expresses the beauty of Japan. In autumn, these trees turn breathtaking shades of red and orange, and visitors can enjoy the natural beauty created by the autumn leaves. Consider visiting Konzoji Temple, a place where you can enjoy the beauty of Japan in each of the four seasons! 【Tripadvisor】Konzoji Temple https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g298564-d1386185-Reviews-Konzoji_Temple-Kyoto_Kyoto_Prefecture_Kinki.html -

Azuchi Castle and Oda Nobunaga! This video, titled "The Phantom Azuchi Castle" (幻の安土城 HD版), was produced by "trocken ab." It's a video that recreates Azuchi Castle, the most prominent castle in the history of the Warring States period, using computer graphics. Azuchi Castle, introduced in the video, is known by many for being featured in "Gō: Hime-tachi no Sengoku," a Taiga drama aired in Japan in 2011. Azuchi Castle was the home of Oda Nobunaga, the uncle of Gou, and it has been the setting of countless historical TV dramas. Presently, Azuchi Castle, which no longer exists today, is said to have been a beautiful and luxurious castle. About Azuchi Castle Photo:Azuchi Castle Ruins Azuchi Castle, a five-layer seven-story castle with one basement level and six floors above ground, was built on Mt. Azuchi near Lake Biwa over a period of four years from 1576 to 1580. Azuchi Castle, which was closer to Kyoto than Gifu Castle, was a symbol of "tenka Fubu," Oda Nobunaga's personal seal, meanining "Unify the nation by force; spread military force under the heavens." It is said that Toyotomi Hideyoshi was also involved in the construction of the castle. Unfortunately, the castle was destroyed by fire in 1582 after the Honnoji Incident instigated by Oda's traitorous vassal Akechi Mitsuhide, just two years after the construction of the castle. The ruins of Azuchi Castle, the former residence of Oda Nobunaga, has been designated as a special historical site. It is also protected as a Class 1 Special Area in Lake Biwa National Park. You can see the introduction of Azuchi Castle at 0:24 in the video. The Research Project on Azuchi Castle Shown in the Video Photo:Azuchi Castle・Kuroganemon Gate Since 1989, restoration of the stone walls and excavation of the ruins of Azuchi Castle began as part of the research and development project. From the foot of the southern side of Mt. Azuchi, shown at 0:47 in the video, there was once a great view of the entrance of the castle. Also, it was found that there were two entrances to the castle, the East and West gates, and through these discoveries, researches have been able to slowly understand what Azuchi castle would have looked like. Currently, Niomon Gate and a three-storied pagoda remain on Mt. Azuchi. More About Azuchi Castle Photo:Azuchi Castle Ruins・Ruins of the former residence of Toyotomi Hideyoshi According to records of Azuchi Castle, when it existed, it was common to take the route from Dodobashiguchi to Ote-michi, then use the Kuroganemon Gate route to get to the, outer citadel, outer region of the castle, and finally the inner citadel, to reach the lord of the castle. Ote-michi, which was used to welcome the Emperor, has been restored as well. You can see the restored Ote-michi at 1:57 in the video. In the outer citadel, there is mausoleum of Oda Nobunaga where Toyotomi Hideyoshi enshrined the remaining relics of Oda Nobunaga. The shape of the inner citadel, shown in the video at 3:45, is extremely similar to the Seiryoden (a pavilion used as the emperor's habitual residence (in a Heian Palace)) of the Kyoto Imperial Palace. Oda Nobunaga made Azuchi Castle a prominent castle worthy to receive the Emperor. Summary of Azuchi Castle and Oda Nobunaga Photo:Beautiful Blue Skies at Lake Biwa The ruins of Azuchi Castle are located in present day Omihachiman City in Shiga Prefecture. If you want to visit Azuchi Castle, shown in the video, you can also visit the Azuchi Town Castle Museum, the Shiga Prefectural Azuchi Castle Archaeological Museum, and the castle town of Azuchi Castle as well. Tokyo's popular sightseeing spot: Meiji Jingu This 4-minute long video, titled "Meiji-Jingu – Tokyo - 4K Ultra HD," was released by "Tokyo Street View – Japan The Beautiful." It is an introductory video of Meiji Jingu and introduces the highlights of the magnificent shrine. Meiji Jingu (Meiji Shrine) is a shrine located in the Yoyogi area of Tokyo's Shibuya ward (渋谷区代々木), which attracts many tourists from both inside and outside of Japan and is a spot you should definitely add to your itinerary when traveling in Tokyo. It is the most popular shrine in Japan for "hatsumode" (初詣, the first shrine visit of the year), with more visitors each year than any other shrine in Japan. It is also a popular spot for weddings and other celebrations, such as "Shichi-Go-San" (七五三). In the opening of the video, you can see the giant torii gate made from a 1,500 year old Japanese cypress tree. If you take a look at the view from beyond the torii gate, you'll see why this shrine was selected as one of the top 20 sightseeing spots in Japan by the Michelin Guide. Passing Through Meiji Jingu's Torii Gate Photo:Meiji Jingu, Tokyo The giant torii gate found at Meiji Jingu is the largest of its kind in Japan. Beyond the gate there is a small bridge and on the left hand side you can see many decorative sake barrels. Different brands have been gathered from all over Japan, and it makes for a very impressive display. Emperor Meiji was also known to enjoy drinking wine, and interestingly, many French wine barrels can also be found at the entrance to the shrine. Be sure to stay on the lookout for them when you visit. They can be seen at 0:33 in the video. After passing through the south gate (Minami Shinmon (南神門)) the main shrine will come into sight. From 2:21 in the video, you can see the famous tree known as Meoto Kusu (夫婦楠) which is believed to bring good luck in marriage, as well as many Ema boards. If you look at the wall, you will see many beautiful "kakizome" (書初め, the first calligraphy of the year). A Cafe in a Power Spot?! The History of Meiji Jingu's Inner Garden and Recommended Spots Photo:Irises in the Garden Meiji Jingu consists of the inner garden in Shibuya, which has a shrine and the shrine's grounds, and the outer garden in Shinjuku Ward, which has sports and cultural facilities. Meiji Jingu, was built on November 1st, 1920 in honor of the 122nd emperor of Japan, Emperor Meiji (明治天皇) and his wife Empress Shoken (昭憲皇太后). With a surface area equivalent to 15 Tokyo Domes, Inori no Mori (祈りの社) has been donated 100,000 trees from all over the country in an effort to increase the beautiful natural surroundings of the area. The area is scattered with spots you'll want to snap a picture of to post and share on social media! Another highlight of Meiji Jingu is its Imperial Garden (明治神宮御苑) which in June is covered with blossoming Japanese Irises. "Kiyomasa's Well" (清正の井戸) is a famous power spot inside the garden, and in recent years an increasing number of people are using the image as a wallpaper on their phones in the hope that it will bring them good luck. Other famous spots around Meiji Jingu include the turtle-shaped rock "Kameishi" (亀石) and the martial arts building "Shiseikan" (至誠館). If you're interested in learning more about the history of Meiji Jingu, we highly recommend visiting the adjacent Meiji Shrine Museum (明治神宮ミュージアム). For lunch, we recommend the delicious sandwiches served at Cafe Mori no Terrace (CAFÉ 杜のテラス). Meiji Jingu is open from sunrise to sunset, therefore the opening times vary depending on the time of year. Please check the official website for more information regarding hours. You can also find information on shrine etiquette and "Go-shuin" (御朱印) on the same website. Gingko Trees in Fall - Meiji Jingu's Outer Garden Photo:Jingu Gaien Ginkgo Avenue Meiji Jingu's outer garden features a variety of sports facilities, including a driving range, tennis court, and baseball field. Access to the area is great, and there's also a hotel parking lot in the vicinity. Many baseball competitions are held at Meiji Jingu Baseball Stadium, which is home to the Yakult Swallows, as well as the annual Jingu Gaien Fireworks Festival (神宮外苑花火大会). A spot we highly recommend in the outer garden area is the row of Gingko trees leading up to the Meiji Memorial Picture Gallery (聖徳記念絵画館). In November, just as the leaves are turning red, the whole area is lit up making it a great place to take a photo. Every year, more than 1.8 million people take part in the Jingu Gaien Ginkgo Festival (神宮外苑 いちょう祭り). Meiji Jingu Summary Photo:Meiji Jingu We hope you enjoyed this introductory video featuring the highlights of Meiji Jingu's inner and outer gardens.
