In Toyosatocho, Inukami District, Shiga Prefecture, Tetsujiro Furukawa, a former executive at Marubeni, believed that "the advancement of national fortune lies in the promotion of public education" and donated his private funds to construct Toyosato Elementary School in 1937 (Showa 12). The designer was the American architect William Merrell Vories. The appearance of the elementary school is grand and beautiful, long cherished by the townspeople as the "White Educational Hall" and "the best elementary school in the East." Currently, a new Toyosato Elementary School has been built to the south, and the old school building complex has been designated as a community activity hub after extensive renovations, serving as a place for the town's development and a relaxation spot for residents. Additionally, this site gained quiet popularity among anime fans as it served as the model school for the anime "K-On!" From mid-November to around December 25 each year, events such as the lighting up of the school building and projection mapping, along with Christmas concerts by local high school students, are held from sunset. On rainy days, the marble on the ground reflects light, creating a wonderful atmosphere.
