The Memorial Service for the Ertuğrul Incident Photo：Turkish Memorial and Museum As you see from 5:33, a memorial service for the Ertuğrul incident was conducted by the local people every year. In recent years, the memorial service is held every 5 years to commemorate the friendship. Local people work together to prepare this service in Kushimoto, Wakayama. In 2015, the Kushimoto Turkish Memorial and Museum was reopened, as well as an exhibit of the newly discovered artifacts found from the ship (6:49). Because Ertuğrul was a wooden ship, all of the artifacts sank to the bottom of the ocean. Searches have been conducted to look for more artifacts since 2008. Through these diligent searches, there have been a total of 7 exhibition events in both Japan and Turkey. During the 2015 excavation, which can be seen at 9:04 in the video, they worked off Kashinosaki, where the ship had gone missing at the time, and found 311 artifacts in 51 dives. These items have been investigated at the Ertuğrul Research Center, and local children helping with the conservation work.
