Approximately 2,600 cherry trees of 52 species are planted in Hirosaki Park, and it is a famous cherry blossom spot that is counted as one of the "three major cherry blossom viewing spots in Japan". There are many highlights, such as the Somei Yoshino cherry tree, the longest living cherry tree in Hirosaki Park that is over 140 years old, the illuminated night cherry blossoms, and the "flower raft" where cherry blossom petals fill the entire moat, and many people from inside and outside the prefecture visit the "Hirosaki Sakura Festival" held from late April to early May every year.
