In addition to the vermilion torii, there are numerous ozuka in the mountains of Mount Inari, and it is said that climbing Mount Inari and visiting Shinto shrines and ozuka is "mountainous." Glasswort, the Bright Red Plant Covering Lake Saroma in Hokkaido This video, titled " JG 4K Hokkaido|Glasswort Around Lake Saroma|Hokkaido Sea Asparagus" (JG 4K 北海道 サロマ湖周辺のアッケシソウ(サンゴソウ) Hokkaido Sea Asparagus), was uploaded by " JAPAN GEOGRAPHIC." Hokkaido is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Japan, attracting many foreign tourists every year thanks to its natural beauty. "In this 4K video, you can see the rare carpet of sea asparagus at Lake Saroma in Hokkaido, which is known as "Japan's best red carpet." Glasswort is a saltwater plant that grows in salt marshes that are subject to the ebb and flow of the tides. It is a salt-tolerant, edible plant that grows into a cylindrical shape 10 to 35 cm tall. As glasswort, an annual plant, grows, its flesh stores a large amount of salt, giving it a firm texture and salty taste. The leaves and stems are edible, and it is called sea asparagus because of its resemblance to asparagus, and is used in cooking in parts of Europe. Lake Saroma is the largest brackish lake in Japan and faces the sea, making it ideal the ideal environment for sea asparagus to grow. The Sea Asparagus at Lake Saroma in Hokkaido Photo:Sea asparagus Salicornia Europaea, this variety of sea asparagus, has been registered as an endangered species. Lake Noto in Abashiri, Hokkaido, is home to one of the largest colonies of sea asparagus in Japan, which is artificially cultivated with a tractor to suppress the growth of other halophytes (salt-tolerant plants). Lake Saroma, shown in the video, is one of the few areas where sea asparagus is cultivated. In Japanese the plant is often called "Sango-so" (サンゴ草: lit. "Coral grass") because its tips are red and resemble coral. You can see a close-up shot of the coral-like glasswort at 3:13 in the video. Tasting the Sea Asparagus Grown in Hokkaido's Lake Saroma Photo:Sea asparagus Sea asparagus is a plant that tastes salty when eaten raw, so it is commonly boiled and eaten as is. It is also delicious when added to pasta, stews, and other boiled dishes. In recent years, it has been distributed in supermarkets across Japan, so be sure to try it if you have the chance. It is rich in minerals and amino acids such as magnesium, which Japanese people tend to deficient in, and the extract of sea asparagus is so nutritious that it is used as an ingredient in many supplements. Summary of Sea Asparagus at Lake Saroma in Hokkaido Source :YouTube screenshot Lake Saroma in Hokkaido is part of the Abashiri Quasi-National Park, and is famous as an area that cranes fly over every year in early September when the autumn leaves begin to change color. You can see one of these cranes at 3:17 in the video. Sango-so Matsuri (能取湖さんご草祭り) a sea asparagus festival at Lake Saroma is held from early to mid-September, and a sightseeing bus called "Dollymint Okhotsk-go" (ドリーミントオホーツク号) operates there. The River Terraces of Kyoto's Kamo River: Video Introduction This video, titled "Kamogawa Nouryou-Yuka & Ponto-cho|Summer in Kyoto" (鴨川納涼床と先斗町 京都の夏), was uploaded by "K Japan Traveler." Summer in Kyoto brings with it the Kamogawa Nouryou-Yuka, a relaxing riverside dining experience. For a limited time, visitors can enjoy traditional Kyoto cuisine on the riverbank in the quaint Ponto-cho area, where if you're lucky, you can also encounter maiko. In the video, you can see Kamogawa Nouryou-Yuka from Shijo Ohashi Bridge in the evening and at night, as well as the stores in Ponto-cho. Be sure to check it out. The History of the Terraces of Kyoto's Kamo River Photo:Kamo River terraces, Kyoto Kamogawa Nouryou-Yuka is one of the most popular summer traditions in Kyoto. While the terraces in Kibune are called "kawadoko," the terraces on the Kamo River are called "nouryou-yuka." The wooden platforms (eating and drinking spaces) on the right bank of the Kamo River between Nijo Ohashi Bridge and Gojo Ohashi Bridge are called "kamogawa nouryou-yuka," and each establishment offers special courses for a limited time. The history of kamogawa nouryou-yuka dates back to the reign of Toyotomi Hideyoshi after a war. The Kamo River was improved by replacing Sanjo Ohashi and Gojo Ohashi Bridge, and the area became crowded with peddlers. Later, in the Edo period (1603-1868 A.D.), many teahouses were built along the Kamo River. It is said that the first teahouses were built along the Kamo River, where wealthy merchants laid out benches with tables to entertain their guests who came from distant places so that they could enjoy the cool of the evening. About the Video on Heian Shrine This video, titled “Heian Shrine - Kyoto - 平安神宮,” was released by “TokyoStreetView - Japan The Beautiful.” It showcases the dignified Heian Shrine in Kyoto. The contrast between the dark green roof and vermilion walls of Heian Shrine is beautiful, and it's a hot spot for Instagrammers. What kind of place is the popular destination in Kyoto? The Origins and History of Heian Shrine Photo:Soryuro at Heian Shrine, Kyoto Heian Shrine (平安神宮) was built in 1895 as the main attraction of the National Industrial Exposition held to commemorate the 1100th anniversary of the relocation of the capital. The name "Heian Shrine" comes from a plan to partially restore the inner sanctum of Heian Palace at the time of the capital's relocation. Heian Shrine was founded as a shrine dedicated to Emperor Kammu (桓武天皇), the 50th emperor of Japan, and Emperor Komei (孝明天皇) was later added as a deity. A Closer Look at the Majestic Heian Shrine Photo:Soryuro at Heian Shrine, Kyoto The main building of the shrine is a reconstruction of Kyoto's Chodoin Temple (朝堂院), which was reduced in size (about five eighths in length). After passing Keiryu Bridge (慶流橋) and the torii gate (registered as a national cultural property), the symbol of Okazaki in Kyoto, and entering the vermilion Otenmon Gate (応天門), you'll be welcomed by majestic buildings, such as the main shrine Daigokuden (大極殿, an important cultural property), the inner shrine with its beautiful hanging lanterns, Ryubidan (龍尾壇, an important cultural property), and the towers Soryuro (蒼龍楼) and Byakkoro (白虎楼) (important cultural properties). Within the precincts of the temple, there are also buildings such as the Kagura Hall (神楽殿) and Gakuden (額殿) (registered as national cultural properties), Otenmon Gate (important cultural property), and Shobikan (尚美館, a guest house). The Heian Jingu Shrine Event Hall (平安神宮会館) is also used as a venue for weddings. The Highlights and Events of Heian Shrine Photo:Heian Shrine, Kyoto The Heian Shrine Garden, created in the Meiji Period by the famous Japanese garden architect Ogawa Jihei VII (小川治兵衛) and others, is a Japanese garden with an area of about 10,000 tsubo (~30,000 square meters). The four gardens, located in the east, center, west, and south, are a "pond garden" with a spectacular view of cherry blossoms in spring, irises in early summer, and beautiful autumn foliage in the fall. In addition to the Festival of the Ages, one of the three major festivals in Kyoto, Heian Shrine also hosts seasonal events, such as Takigi Noh (a Noh play), so be sure to check them out as well. Summary of Heian Shrine Photo:Otenmon Gate at Heian Shrine, Kyoto Heian Shrine, featured in the video, is one of the most popular and famous tourist attractions in Kyoto. Basho no Sato - A Popular Sightseeing Destination in Otawara, Tochigi This video, titled "JG☆☆8K HDR 栃木 芭蕉の里 黒羽 大雄寺(重文) Tochigi,Kurobane Daioji(Cultural Property)," was created by "JAPAN GEOGRAPHIC." Matsuo Basho, a poet active during the Edo period (1603 AD - 1868 AD), is one of the most famous haiku poets in Japanese history. Many of the locations and buildings mentioned in his poetry collection "Oku no Hosomichi" (奥の細道) (often translated as "The Narrow Road to the Deep North") have become famous tourist spots in Japan. Basho no Sato Kurobane (芭蕉の里黒羽), introduced in the video, is one such tourist spot, located in Otawara, Tochigi. There are several famous spots in Basho no Sato, such as Daioji Temple, which belongs to the Soto school of Buddhism (曹洞宗), as well as Kurobane Fukushi Park (黒羽福祉公園), and Kurobane Basho no Yakata (芭蕉の館). Daioji Temple was built in 1404, giving it a long history dating back more than 600 years. Retracing the footsteps of Matsuo Basho in Daioji Temple Source :YouTube screenshot What kind of building is Tochigi prefecture's Daioji Temple? Let's take a look at Daioji Temple alongside the video. ・Sanmon (山門) 0:07~ Many Jizo statues (御地蔵) line the path towards the main temple gate. With these you can experience the atmosphere of the ancient temple. ・Somon (総門) and Kairo (回廊) 0:26~ A small main gate guarded by statues of arhats (羅漢) which marks the entrance to the thatch roofed hallway. ・Kyozo (経蔵) 0:45~ A storehouse where Buddhist scriptures are kept. Behind the storehouse is the treasure house known as "Shukokan" (集古館). Source :YouTube screenshot ・Shoro (鐘楼) 1:40~ After passing through Somon gate, a Japanese garden ornament, which also happens to be a musical device known as a "Suikinkutsu" (水琴窟) can be seen on the left hand side. On the right hand side you can see the bell tower "Shoro." ・Zendo (禅堂) 2:22~ If you turn left into the corridor (Kairo), about half way through you'll find the Zen meditation hall, or "Zendo." Matsuo Basho's poetry collection "Oku no Hosomichi" is an important piece of classical Japanese literature that is famous both in Japan as well as overseas. His journey, which covers all areas of Japan, was no easy feat. He would often walk several kilometers a day, writing haiku poems at many of his destinations. However, he is said to have spent two full weeks in Kurobane, Tochigi (featured in the video) with his disciple. Areas such as Nikko (日光) and Nasu (那須) in Tochigi prefecture are famous for their beautiful autumn foliage. The areas surrounding Kurobane Castle (黒羽城) and Daioji Temple also turn beautiful shades of red in autumn and are covered with peonies and irises. The picturesque scenery is sure to have tugged at the heart strings of Matsuo Basho. Daioji Temple has been preserved in its original form since 1448. At the time, the temple was known as "Kurobanesan Kuonin Daioji" (黒羽山久遠院大雄寺). Summary of Basho no Sato Source :YouTube screenshot Tochigi prefecture was an area Matsuo Basho was particularly fond of. In particular, the area surrounding Kurobane Castle and Daioji Temple which has been called "Basho no Sato". The area attracts lots of tourists each year and is one of the top sightseeing spots in Tochigi prefecture. Tochigi prefecture is most famous for its picturesque scenery in fall. Ryuogabuchi Pond – A Photographer's Dream Do you know of the mysterious pond deep in the mountains of Nara Prefecture? This time, we'll introduce the video "【日本の絶景】新緑の龍王ヶ淵 Ryuogabuchi Superb view of Nara Japan 4K," uploaded by "SOTOBURA." Ryuogabuchi Pond is a famous location for photography in Uda City, Nara Prefecture, thanks to its beautiful reflective water surface. The crystal-clear pond is also a popular spot for photographers as the surrounding mountains reflect off the water's surface like a mirror. It's also famous as an "instagrammable" location in Japan. And with that, let's dive into the video of Ryuogabuchi Pond! A Closer Look at Ryuogabuchi! Photo:Ryuogabuchi Pond, Nara Prefecture Ryuogabuchi is located on the hillside of Mt. Nukai, a small mountain in Yamato Fuji, and the water flowing from the approximately 530m tall mountain is crystal clear, creating a mysterious pond. At 1:08 in the video, you can see the mysterious reflection of the trees of Mt. Nukai on the surface of the pond. The pond is 150 meters across from east to west and 100 meters across from north to south, making it a popular walking course. Some parts of the trail can be marshy and sometimes wet, so be sure to wear some comfortable sneakers. The nearby Horikoshi Shrine worships Toyotama-hime, who appears in the folk tale Urashima Taro. The video shows the quiet surface of the pond, but there are a lot of tourists on holidays, so we recommend visiting on a weekday to avoid the crowds and enjoy a quiet view of the pond. The Best Time to Visit Ryuogabuchi Pond Photo:Starry skies at Ryuogabuchi Pond, Nara Prefecture Ryuogabuchi is an amazing place to visit in the summer when the leaves are fresh and green, and in the fall when the leaves change to beautiful shades of red and orange. You can also enjoy breathtaking snowy scenery during the winter months. That being said, if you're driving in winter, you'll need to be prepared with snow tires. On a clear, windless day, the lake does not stir, and the surrounding scenery is said to reflect beautifully off of its surface. Because it is located deep in the mountains, you'll be able to see the stars on clear nights as well. Fishing is prohibited at Ryuogabuchi Pond, as it's considered a place of faith. Sightseeing Around Ryuogabuchi Pond Photo:Murouji Temple, Nara Prefecture There are many tourist attractions, including temples, around Ryuogabuchi in Nara Prefecture. In particular, nearby you'll find Murouji Temple and Onoji Temple, for which the nearest station, Muroguchi-Ono Station, is named. Approximately 100 mikumari cherry trees line the banks of the Hono River and they're lit up, making it a popular cherry blossom spot in the city. Ryuogabuchi is only 10 minutes away from the Hari Interchange on the Meihan National Highway (名阪国道針IC), so it's a good place to visit by car. Parking is also available, so you can visit easily. Summary of the Ryuogabuchi Area Photo:Ryuogabuchi Pond, Nara Prefecture Check out the video of Ryuogabuchi and be soothed by the clear blue skies and tranquil pond. If you're looking to relax and get away from work, be sure to visit Ryuogabuchi. You can also enjoy listening to the playful sounds of fish and frogs jumping in the pond. It introduces the charm and traditional culture of the Amakusa Islands in Kyushu. The Amakusa Islands are a group of 120 islands that extends across Kumamoto and Kagoshima prefectures in western Kyushu. This area was where the historic Amakusa-Shimabara Rebellion, said to be Japan's largest rebellion, took place approximately 400 years ago. In 2018, "Hidden Christian Sites in Nagasaki and the Amakusa Region" was registered as a World Heritage Site and became widely talked about. The Deep History of Christianity on Kyushu's Amakusa Islands Photo:Sakitsu Church After Francis Xavier arrived in Hirado, Nagasaki in 1549 and preached Christianity, the western area of Kyushu has become a region home to many Christians. A Jesuit college was also built in Amakusa to train missionaries, and as can be seen from 3:01 in the video, there is a statue of Mary on the scenic seaside, which has become a popular symbol of faith. There were many martyrs in the Shimabara Rebellion led by Amakusa Shiro, and the faith of their ancestors lives on in the region today. When you go sightseeing in the Amakusa Islands, be sure to stop by Sakitsu Church, Oe Church, and the Amakusa Christian Museum, where you can learn about the history of the Amakusa area, remember the scenes of the past, and offer prayers. Aogashima Island - A Hidden Sightseeing Destination Rich in Nature Photo:Aogashima's rich natural scenery If you're looking to enjoy the sights and sounds of Japan but looking for a less crowded location with all sorts of beautiful scenery, then look no further than Aogashima Island, a hidden gem located among Tokyo's Izu Islands! You're actually not alone in this thinking. While Japan is full of beautiful temples and shrines, stepping away from the cliche sightseeing destinations to enjoy some lesser explored locations is something many people want to do. The problem is that they don't know how... Popular tourist sites are so packed with people that it can often be difficult to relax during your vacation, especially if you aren't good with crowds. Which is why we're introducing this video, titled "Aerial view of Aogashima Volcano, Aogashima Aerial Drone Footage [4K]" (Aerial view of Aogashima Volcano,青ヶ島 ドローン空撮【4K】). It's a video showing the entirety of Aogashima from up high. It's hard to believe this is actually part of Tokyo. This article will give you an overview of Aogashima, one of Tokyo's best-kept secret sites, including its attractions, and how to get to it. Aogashima Island Near Hachijojima Island, Tokyo Located 358 kms from Tokyo, Aogashima is a unique island with rich natural scenery. Aogashima is an isolated island with a distinctive double caldera topography. The unique shape of Aogashima, which was created by an active volcano, is growing in popularity, both inside and outside of Japan, as this type of landscape cannot be seen in many other places, especially in one so beautiful. In the olden days, the island was forbidden to women, and they say there was a time when it was called "Onga-Shima" (男ヶ島, Onga-Shima), meaning roughly "Man's Island." The island has the smallest population of any village in Japan, and is full of beautiful scenery. Aogashima - An Isolated Island in Tokyo Photo:Aogashima Observatory Park Aogashima, a hidden tourist site outside of Tokyo, has a variety of attractions. First of all, Aogashima offers a spectacular view of the island's natural scenery. Aogashima has a number of observation decks, which are famous places where you can admire the island's distinctive scenery and spectacular views of the beautiful ocean. When you travel to Aogashima, the observation decks are a must-visit. Tokyo's Aogashima is also famous for its beautiful starry sky. The starry sky seen from the vicinity of Ikenozawa (池ノ沢, Ikenozawa) is spectacular and you'd be missing out if you didn't take the opportunity to admire it. Aogashima is a great spot for those who want to enjoy the beautiful scenery as the area is still relatively untouched humans. The Isolated Island of Tokyo - How to Get to Aogashima, the Hidden Gem in the Izu Islands Access to Tokyo's Aogashima Island is as follows: First, take a ship from the mainland, passing Miyakejima Island (三宅島, Miyakejima) and Mikurajima Island (御蔵島, Miyakejima), to Hachijojima (approx. 11 hours). Alternatively, you can fly to Hachijojima from Haneda Airport. This takes about 50 minutes. From the relay point on Hachijojima, you take a helicopter to Aogashima, which takes about 20 minutes. It takes some time to get to the island, and you may feel it's inconvenient, but once you are surrounded by the stunning nature of Aogashima, you'll feel that it was worth the effort. Summary of Aogashima, a Hidden Gem in the Izu Islands Source :YouTube screenshot The video "Aerial view of Aogashima Volcano, Aogashima Aerial Drone Footage [4K]," produced by winteroptix, is a 4K video that captures the charm of Aogashima. Sensoji Temple, one of the most famous sightseeing destinations in Tokyo, is crowded with many tourists during the day. However, at night, Kaminarimon Gate and Nakamise-dori Street, two places that are representative of Sensoji Temple, are quiet and free of crowds. A Closer Look at Sensoji Temple, a Famous Tourist Destination in Asakusa, Tokyo Photo:Sensoji Temple and Women Sensoji Temple is located in Asakusa, Taito, Tokyo. Sensoji Temple, a temple with ancient roots, having been built in the Heian period (794-1185), is also called "Asakusa Kannon" and is the oldest temple in Tokyo, attracting many tourists who visit for worship and sightseeing. During events at Sensoji Temple, such as Hatsumode, Osame-no-Kannon Goennichi, Shiman-rokusen-nichi, and Asakusa Shrine's Sanja Matsuri, it is especially crowded with visitors coming to worship. If you visit the Sensoji Temple, which is said to be blessed with the power to fulfill your heart's desires, be sure to get a shuin stamp to commemorate your visit. After passing through Kaminarimon gate, you'll find the spacious Nakamise-dori, where you can eat gourmet food found only in Asakusa, such as buns and ningyo-yaki. Mt. Daisen and Kitanizawa Stream - Two Places Used to Make Commercials With Famous Artists! Be Amazed by the Natural Scenery of Tottori Prefecture in This 4K Video!

Mt. Daisen and Kitanizawa Stream in Tottori Prefecture This video, titled "[4K UHD] Summer Mt. Daisen and Kitanizawa stream" ([ 4K UHD ]夏の伯耆大山と木谷沢渓流 Mt.Daisen & Kitanisawa Stream in Summer), was created by AQUA Geo Graphic. It's an introductory video showing Mt. Daisen and Kitanizawa Stream. Mt. Daisen is a mountain at 1,729m (5,700 ft.) above sea level in Tottori prefecture, in Japan's Chugoku region. It is a stratovolcano, but it is not active at present. It is also known as the sacred peak that represents the Chugoku region of Japan. Mt. Daisen is sometimes called Pansan or Hoki Daisen. The name Hoki Daisen derives from the history of western Tottori Prefecture, which was once called Hoki Country. Mt. Daisen is a popular scenic location that has been selected as one of Japan's "Top 100 Mountains" and Japan's "Top 100 Views." The Kitanizawa Stream is a clear stream that originates from Mt. Daisen, and is also designated as a walking route for sightseeing on Mt. Daisen. It is filled with many tourists, especially during the fall foliage season. The video introduces the fresh greenery of Mt. Daisen and the Kitanizawa Stream in beautiful 4K footage. You can enjoy the beautiful natural scenery, the chirping of birds, and the natural sounds of the flowing river, making it seem as if a mountain stream is actually flowing right in front of you. Mt. Daisen and Kitanizawa Stream- Two Beautiful Instagram Locations Photo:Kitanizawa mountain stream When visiting Mt. Daisen, we recommend taking a guided tour with the Oku-Daisen tour guide. It's a popular walking tour where you can enjoy the seasonal natural scenery, such as bird watching in the summer, autumn leaves in the fall, and snowshoeing in the winter. Keep in mind that the tours require a minimum of people before starting. Reservations can be made with the Kofu Tourism Association by phone or email. The first Saturday of the month is Kitanizawa Tour Day, which includes a photo and allows pets and elementary school students to accompany the tour. Feel free to sign up for this walking route, as it's a great way to capture some Instagram-worthy pictures. The crater at the top of Daisen is marked by the rim of a volcano, indicating that it was once a volcano. It's also locally called Hoki Fuji. If you fancy yourself a hike, why not try climbing to the famous Hoki Fuji Rim to see the natural landscape of Mt. Daisen? Speaking of Mt. Daisen, in winter, we recommend the Oku-Daisen Ski Resort. It's the largest ski resort in Tottori Prefecture, with 400 free parking spots. Reservations should be made early, as the resort is quite popular. Oku-Daisen Was Used for Suntory's Natural Water TV Commercials! Photo:Houki Fuji among the stars In 2017, a commercial for Suntory Natural Water, featuring world-renowned female artist Utada Hikaru, was set in Oku-Daisen, a famous mountain that is said to be the highest peak in the Chugoku region. Oku-Daisen is a place where the air and water are so clean that it is said to be a mountain of water, and the atmosphere of its mysterious forest is something straight out of an anime or some other mythological world! The numerous climbing spots capture the hearts of visitors. Okudaisen (奥大山) has a vast beech forest, where you can enjoy a panoramic view of the majestic mountains, and you can see the beautiful starry sky that Utada Hikaru sang about in the TV commercial "#Hoshi Suge" (These stars are beautiful!). The mountain stream that Utada Hikaru visited in the TV commercial is featured throughout this video, where you can enjoy the clear river water of the naturally flowing stream. If you watch the video, you might be able to feel what Utada Hikaru felt, surrounding by the natural beauty of Okudai Mountain. Mountain Climbing and Sightseeing at Mt. Daisen and Kitanizawa Stream Kofu City (江府町, Kofu cho), in Tottori Prefecture, is home to Oku-Daisen, mentioned earlier in the article. The air here is incredibly clear, making it a great place for stargazing, and many campers and photographers come here every year. In the surrounding downtown area and hotels, you can enjoy incredible gourmet cuisine, such as seafood from the Sea of Japan. Summary of Mt. Daisen and Kitanizawa Stream Hoki Daisen Station (JR West) in Yonago is a convenient way to get around, especially for trips to Mt. Daisen, home to the Kinayazawa Stream, one of the clearest rivers in Japan. We recommend using a local bus for transportation from Hoki Daisen Station to hotels, accommodations, and tourist destinations around Mt. Daisen. The highlight of this video is the Kitanizawa Stream, which is shown from 0:36 to the end of the video. The clear water flowing through the lush greenery of a mountain stream in summer, the beautiful moss on the rocks of the stream, and the beautiful sound of the river. It's a truly amazing atmosphere. The video is pleasing to both the eyes and ears. Please enjoy the beauty of Mt. Daisen and the Kitanizawa mountain stream. -
