Eelpouts - This "Charming" Fish Is a Specialty of Kanazawa, Ishikawa! Full of Gelatin and Collagen, This Fish Is Loved by Women for Its Beauty Properties!

Introducing Eelpouts - An Interesting Delicacy in Kanazawa, Ishikawa "Eelpouts: The rare fish loved in Kanazawa| nippon.com," is a 4K video uploaded by "nippon.com." Have you heard of eelpouts before? There probably aren't many people who've heard of this strange fish, but it's actually a specialty of Kanazawa that's attracting attention as an ingredient for beauty supplements. This video will show you how to prepare some delicious eelpouts! The Unsightly Eelpout - A Look at the Strange Fish Photo:Eelpouts Eelpout is written "幻魚" (roughly "Illusion Fish") in Japanese Kanji. This deep-sea fish is a type of sea-bass (belonging to a genus of Zoarcidae) and there are more than 230 types of eelpouts around the world. The reason why it's called "illusion fish" in Japan is likely because of its wiggly, slimy and grotesque body, and it was never eaten or studied. It has been found that it prefers the cold water of the northern hemisphere and usually lies on the seafloor, eating shells, sea urchins, and starfish that are in the sand. It swims very slow and its proper name is "ノロゲンゲ" (norogenge) in Japanese. The best time to catch it in the Hokuriku region is from September to May. How to Prepare Eelpouts Source :YouTube screenshot The most distinctive feature of the eelpout is its long, thin body, slimy surface, and soft texture. This is because it's rich in fine gelatin and collagen. It has quit a plain taste, so it can be used in any kind of cooking, and it is very popular in Kanazawa and Toyama. As you can see from 0:41 in the video, they cost around 400 yen per four fish, which is cheap during the harvest seasons, so it's often eaten as a main dish in Japan's Hokuriku region. Fried, dried, and tempura are also popular ways to prepare it, and these can be seen from 1:17 in the video. The slimy surface disappears when deep-fried giving it a nice and soft texture. Because of its simple taste, it's used as the main ingredients in miso soup and hot pot on a regular basis. Summary of Eelpouts, a Kanagawa Specialty Photo:Miso soup with bamboo shoots Eelpouts are also called "gengyo," "dogi," "mizuuo," and "sugayo" in Japanese. Although grotesque at first glance, it's gaining attention as a main ingredient in beauty supplements due to its high moisture content and moisturizing properties. Eelpout hot pot and eelpout soup are foods that women should pay attention to if they're focusing on beauty because it warms the body from the core and makes the skin look youthful. Be sure to try them when you visit Kanazawa, Ishikawa. -

Amanohashidate - One of the Three Most Scenic Spots in Japan This video, titled JG☆☆☆☆☆4K HDR Kyoto, Amanohashidate (Special Scenic Beauty)" (JG☆☆☆☆☆4K HDR 京都 天橋立(特別名勝)), created by “JAPAN GEOGRAPHIC” is a promotional video that introduces “Amanohashidate,” a sandbar in Miyazu Bay (宮津湾, Miyazuwan), Tango, on the Sea of Japan, in northern Kyoto, as well as nearby sightseeing spots. Along with “Mutsunomatsushima” in Miyagi and “Akinomiyajima” in Hiroshima, “Amanohashidate” located in Miyazu, Kyoto is listed as one of the "Three Views of Japan," attracting many tourists with its mystical scenery. Located about two hours from Kyoto Station by train, Amanohashidate is an area where you can enjoy spectacular natural landscapes, historical sites, and mysterious power spots, which are quite different from sightseeing in downtown Kyoto. It is said that from about 7 to 8,000 years ago, the sand from rivers was deposited in an almost straight line due to collisions of ocean currents, and then an earthquake 2-3,000 years ago caused the accumulated sand to appear on the sea, and has continued to grow even to this day. It took thousands of years to create Amanohashidate as we know it today. You can see the mysterious and beautiful scenery that nature has created in 4K. Other sightseeing spots around it are introduced as well. There are so many spots to see around Amanohashidate! Two Observatories Where You Can Try “Matanozoki” at Amanohashidate Photo: Matanozoki at Amanohashidate Amanohashidate, with its sandy pine tree and spit beaches, is 20-170m wide and 3.6 km long, and is called "Amanohashidate" because of its slender, bridge-like appearance from the sky (The kanji roughly translates to "heavenly bridge"). Amanohashidate can be seen from the observatories at Amanohashidate View Land and Amanohashidate Kasamatsu Park. If you try “Matanozoki” (looking at Amanohashidate from between your legs upside down), you'll have to face away from Amanohashidate to see it. This makes the sky and the ground upside down and it looks like a bridge in the sky when viewed from “Kasamatsu Park” in the north, and it looks like a dragon flying in the sky when you look at it from “Amanohashidate View Land” in the south. At Kasamatsu Park, you can climb up to the observatory using a lift or cable car while looking at the beautiful scenery of cherry blossoms in spring. You can also enjoy seasonal flowers, such as hydrangea and beautiful autumn leaves. The top of the mountain where Amanohashidate View Land is located, can be reached by a lift, a ropeway and a cable car. On top of the mountain, there is a facility that even children can enjoy, with a ferris wheel and go-carts. You can see the ride to the top and a view of Amanohashidate at 0:28 in the video. Don't forget to bring your camera if you go! Historical Locations and Sightseeing Around Amanohashidate Photo:Three Views of Japan, Amanohashidate, Rotating bridge Chionji Temple is known for the wiseman Monju-san, and is visited by many students before taking their entrance exams. Monjudo Hall (the main hall) and Amanohashidate are depicted in the national treasure "Amanohashidatezu" by Sesshu. Also, Manai Shrine, located in the inner shrine of the prestigious Kano Shrine, called Moto Ise, is a famous power spot. Shishizaki Inari Shrine, with its red torii gate and approximately 1,000 "Mitsuba Azaleas" that turn the surface of the mountain pink in spring, and Seisouji Temple, with its magnificent five-story pagoda, are popular tourist spots. The temples and shrines around Amanohashidate are introduced at 1:52 in the video. Another popular tourist spot is Kaisen Bridge. It's a bridge that rotates to let ships pass, and connects “Amanohashidate” and “Monjudo.” It's a very popular place for taking photos. You can watch the bridge rotating at 2:05 in the video. Next to Kaisen Bridge is Amanohashidate Hot Spring Street. Chie-no-yu is a facility with an outdoor hot spring and an open-air bath, and there are other hot spring facilities where you can take a day trip to relax and recover from the fatigue of your travels as well. Amanohashidate is lined with 5,000 pine trees and has a sandy shore, making it a popular destination that many people visit every summer. The bridge can be crossed on foot or by bike. Isomizu is popular among tourists because of its mysterious fresh water gushing up from the sand surrounded by the sea. Many of Japan’s top 100! Famous place in “Amanohashidate” Kyoto “Amanohashidate” is home to many "top 100's." Check out the video from 0:11 to see how beautiful Niijima's ocean is. You can also visit the historical temples and enjoy swimming in the ocean. You'll have no regrets after your visit to Niijima. Niijima can be accessed by either ferry or plane. If you would like to spend some quality time on the ferry, we recommend taking the ferry from either Tokyo Takeshiba Pier, or the one from Shimoda Port in Shimoda, Shizuoka. If you would like to save travel time however, we recommend you fly from Tokyo Chofu Airport. By high speed jet ferry, it takes about 2 hours and 20 minutes. Large passenger ships take about 10 hours and 35 minutes. From Shimoda Port, it will take 2 hours and 40 minutes. The flight time from Chofu Airport is just 35 minutes. Niijima tours are available with different plans. If you're looking to spend a couple nights in Niijima, be sure to check the tour packages to see which package fits your plan. Sightseeing Spots at Niijima Photo:Habushiura Beach There are so many different tourist spots around Niijima: beautiful scenic ocean views, relaxing hot springs, and an observatory where you can see a panoramic view of Niijima. Video introduction of summer sightseeing spots in Echizen-cho, Niu-gun, Fukui Prefecture The video “JAPAN TRIP ECHIZEN COLORS – Summer/ Echizen-town Tourism Promotional Video” is created by “Tourism Echizen JAPAN Channel/ Echizen-town Tourism Federation Fukui Prefecture.” It's a promotional video for Echizen, Fukui prefecture, that introduces sightseeing destinations and local cuisine. Echizen is known for Echizen-crab, a brand of snow crab (queen crab). In summer, there's gorgeous views, marine activities, traditional fireworks and festivals to be enjoyed in Echizen. In this article, we'll introduce recommended destinations and food you should try. The video is taken by drone, so you get some beautiful aerial footage. By the time it ends, you'll be itching to go to Echizen! What is Echizen Like? Photo:Echizen Ono Castle in the Sky, Fukui Prefecture In 2005, the 4 towns of Asahi, Miyazaki, Echizen and Oda, merged together and formed Echizen. The population of Echizen is 21,500. (as of April, 2019) Echizen sits on the coast of the Sea of Japan and its roughly 2 and a half hours from Kyoto by car. There is no train or highways, so you can feel the beauty of the surrounding natural environment. We recommend going by car or rental car. Where's That Beach Shown in the Video? Photo:Kochou gate From 0:10 in the video, we see the main tourist attraction (with a beautiful view), Echizen Coast. Echizen coast is one of the three major places where bunch-flower daffodils are grown. Awaji Island (淡路島, Awajishima) and Boso Peninsula (房総半島, Bosohatou) are the other two areas. The bunch-flower daffodil is the city and prefecture flower. Echizen coast is a Quasi-National Parks, with upheaved seashore. Driving along the coast and seeing the large tunnel, eroded by wind and waves is very popular. Echizen cape was also chosen in the top 100 sunsets of Japan. Scuba diving at the beautiful Echizen coast is popular among tourists in summer. It can be seen at 0:28 in the video. Here, you can try diving and snorkeling as well, without the need for a license. There are a lot of sea-bathing places in Echizen with sandy beaches and rock shores. Families with children can enjoy endless fun here. Enjoy the Culture, Nature and Food of Echizen Source :YouTube screenshot If you head toward the inland from the Sea of Japan, you can see rural landscapes and beautiful green mountains. By visiting the Echizenkogama Museum, (越前古窯博物館, Echizenkogama hakubutsukan) you can learn about the history and techniques of Echizen ware, a Japan Heritage, as well as see one of the six ancient kilns of Japan. You can also enjoy 5 different kinds of hot springs here. The rice field art introduced at 1:09 is breathtaking. Definitely check it out! After sightseeing and enjoying some marine activities, we recommend trying local cuisine. Especially the Echizen soba, packed with grated Japanese radish, and fresh seafood. Usuya Shokuhin’s Ota Tofu is also popular as a souvenir. It uses only domestically grown soybeans. Usuya Shokuhin was established in 1854, in Echizen-cho Ota, which also happens to be the birthplace of Oda Nobunaga’s (one of the three great unifiers of Japan) clan. Another great thing to try during summer in Echizen is the squid-fishing experience. Riding on a fishing boat at night, turning on a fishing lamp and catching squid is sure to make for a lifelong memory. The food in Echizen can be seen from 1:12 in the video. Enjoying both sightseeing and delicious food on vacation... what more could you ask for? Traditional Japanese Festivals in Echizen Photo:Asahi festival Andon floats We highly recommend checking out Echizen's summer festival! In mid-July, “Echizen summer festival” is held. Fifty-thousand tourists visit the port town every year to see the amazing fireworks. “Asahi festival” is a fantastic festival where 20 Andon floats pass in front of the town hall. In Ota, there's a tradition called “Myoujin Bayashi” dedicated to “Tsurugi Shrine” (劔神社, Turugi jinjya) where Lord Oda Nobunaga worshipped. Currently, there is an event called “Ota Festival &O・TA・I・KO Hibike” in mid-August, where you can listen to powerful drum performances. The information is shown in the video at 2:00. The fireworks festival shown at 2:35 is incredibly lively. Summary of Echizen “JAPAN TRIP ECHIZEN COLORS – Summer/ Echizen-town Tourism Promotional Video” introduces tourist attractions in the summer, along with gorgeous views of Echizen. Echizen is a very attractive town where you can enjoy a gorgeous view of the Sea of Japan, marine activities, traditional festivals, fresh seafood, and more. Be sure to watch the video to see the beautiful summer views of Echizen. There are many hotels and hot springs too, so if you want to be active during summer, we highly recommend Echizen. 【Official website】Echizen town hall homepage https://www.town.echizen.fukui.jp/ 【Official website】Echizen: Echizen-town Tourism Federation https://www.town-echizen.jp/en/ -

About Itoman, Okinawa This is a promotional video for Itoman city titled "Itoman City Tourism PR Video・Experience Compilation" (糸満市観光PRムービー_体験編(日本語版))." It's brought to you by Itoman city hall. We'd like to introduce experiences available in Itoman, a city located in southern Okinawa Island, a popular sightseeing destination in Japan. Itoman city hall has also created other videos highlighting popular restaurants, walking routes and cultural spots in and around Itoman city. Itoman is a city on Okinawa's main island, in the south west of Japan. Itoman city is easily accessible by car and takes around 30 minutes to get to from Naha airport (那覇空港, Nahakuukou), the main airport in Okinawa. Itoman city was the site of many battles during World War II, and therefore is well known for battle memorial sites such as Okinawa Peace Memorial Park (沖縄県平和祈念公園, Okinawaken heiwa kinen kouen) and Himeyuri Memorial Tower (ひめゆりの塔, Himeyurinotou). Itoman city is also famous as a fishing village, with many fishing traditions being passed down for generations. Itoman is an area dotted with sugar cane fields and beaches with beautiful views of the ocean. Charming villages covered with red tile roofed houses typical of Okinawa add to the beautiful scenery here. Popular Tourist Experiences in Itoman City Photo:Underwater In the opening scene of this video we're introduced to Ryukyu Glass Village's (琉球ガラス村, Ryuukyuu garasu mura) glass blowing experience. You can see this at 0:15 in the video. Ryukyu glassware is famous for it's characteristic air bubbles and thick, beautifully colored glass. Glass-blowing is a traditional Japanese craft by which you can create truly one of a kind glassware. At Ryukyu Glass Village you can also watch the craftsmen at work or purchase a variety of colorful glassware from the shop. Next, we'd like to introduce the glass boat tours. You can see these at 0:52 in the video. The glass boats have a glass floor which allows you to take a peek down at the sea floor below. You can enjoy looking at the beautiful Okinawan coral and tropical fish up close without the need to take part in a snorkeling or diving course. The next sightseeing experience we'd like to introduce is Hariko making. Hariko are traditional paper-mache dolls that you can decorate however you like. You can see them being made at 01:09 in the video. Have fun watching your cute, hand-painted Ucchiribukusa (traditional Okinawa doll) stand back up after knocking it over time and time again. The Shisa (lion dog) hariko is very typical of Okinawa. Okinawan traditional fishing boat/Sabani sail boat experiences are also very popular. Sabini are fishing boats used in the Tempuku Bare competition which is part of the biggest event held in Itoman city, the Itoman Hare. Tempuku Bare is a competition where as a team you attempt to flip over your overturned Sabani boat and row it to the finish line. It is used as a test of the village fishermens' boat skills, but don't worry, as a tourist you won't have to flip over any Sabani boats during your experience! Rowing your own Sabani with the cool wind brushing against your face is an exhilarating experience! You can see this at 2:15 in the video. Experience Making the Local Delicacies of Itoman Source :YouTube screenshot Taking part in the regional Japanese cuisine experience is sure to be one of the best memories of your trip to Okinawa. The area with highest consumption of tofu in Japan is thought to be Okinawa and there are many tofu shops in Itoman. You can see some of these shops being introduced at 1:43 in the video. About the San’in region promotion video "San'in, Japan 4K (Ultra HD) - 山陰" is a promotional video produced by "San’in JAPAN" that introduces famous sites and sightseeing locations in the San'in region, a nature rich area facing the Sea of Japan. Located in the southwestern area of Honshu, Japan's main island, the San'in region spans along the coast of the Japan Sea and consists of Shimane and Tottori prefectures, as well as the northern area of Yamaguchi Prefecture. It also includes the northern area of the prefectures of Kyoto and Hyogo as well, depending on who you ask. The total population of the San'in region is about 1,230,000 as of June 2019. Popular destinations in the region are: Lake Shinji, the Tottori Sand Dunes, Matsue Castle, Mt. Daisen, and Izumo-taisha. There's also nature, historic buildings, and local seafood dishes. All of this is condensed into the 3-minute video of San'in. Sit back, relax, and enjoy a look at Japan's San'in region. Japan's San'in Region- Tottori Sand Dunes Photo:Camel in the tottori sand dunes The Tottori Sand Dunes in Tottori Prefecture, the largest in Japan, are a popular tourist attraction in the San'in Region, and are the only sand dunes in Japan designated as a natural monument. Japan’s amazing desert-like Tottori Sand Dunes has a 90-meter difference in elevation, and visitors can enjoy beautiful views of the Sea of Japan from atop them, as well as the wind-wrought pattern, known as Fumon, on the surface of sand. There's also a beautiful sunset at the Tottori Dunes. You can see the Tottori Sand Dunes from 0:06 in the video. It's the only place in Japan where you'll find sand in every direction. The dunes also attract Instagrammers looking for photogenic scenery. Recommended Spots in Shimane- Oki Islands & Tachikuekyo Photo: Iwakura Chichi-sugi The Oki Islands in Shimane Prefecture consists of 4 inhabited islands and a dozen uninhabited islands. Due to their geological heritage, the Oki Islands have been designated a UNESCO Global Geopark. When you set foot in Oki, you'll encounter a deep forest, home to Chichi-sugi, a mysterious 800-year old Japanese cedar tree, the coasts of Shirashima, and Jodogaura. The Oki Islands appear at 0:21 in the video. Next is Tachikuekyo, a narrow gorge with a beautiful suspension bridge and spires of uniquely-shaped rocks rising high into the air. It's a great place to visit because of its five hundred Arhat statues and Reikoji temple. Recommended Locations in Tottori- Uradome Coast & Mt. Daisen The next spot introduced in the video is “Uradome coast” in Tottori. A beautiful ria coastline surrounded by the clear, rough waters of the Sea of Japan. Mt. Daisen shown in the video from 1:21, is the highest mountain in Japan's Chugoku Region. It's shape changes vastly depending on which side of the mountain you are standing on, and also changes its color depending on the season. The beautifully autumn foliage is a sight to behold. The view of Sakasa Daisen, a view of Mt. Daisen together with the upside down Mt. Daisen reflecting off the water's surface, is also a popular tourist attraction. Nariishi Beach in Kotoura has stones that have been rounded off by the rough waves, and that rattle as the waves roll in. The beach is shown at 1:34 in the video. Food, Culture, and Tradition in Japan's San'in Region Photo:Matsuba crab in Tottori prefecture At Tottori’s Sakaiminato port, one of the largest landings of queen crabs in Japan, queen crabs start being caught while it's still dark. You can eat fresh seafood in the fish market as shown in the video at1:46. Sakaiminato is also known as the home of Mizuki Shigeru, creator of the famous cartoon series "Gegege no Kitaro." Mizuki Shigeru Road, a street dedicated to all the yokai characters that appear in his stories, attracts many visitors as well. If you're stopping by the area, don't forget to try Izumo Soba. It's to die for! Iwami Kagura, a Japanese heritage that has been handed down in Shimane Prefecture since ancient times, is a fantastic representation of the world of mythology. It has events all year round as well so be sure to check it out. This can be seen at 1:52 in the video. It's a great way to familiarize yourself with traditional Japanese culture. In the Izumo region of Tottori Prefecture, there's a history of Tatara iron manufacturing. The Okuizumo Tatara Sword Museum is a great place to visit to learn about old iron making technology. You can also see a sword forging demonstration as well. The Nakai Pottery of Inshu, Tottori Prefecture, another traditional handicraft, is introduced at 2:28 in the video. Historic Buildings & Gardens in the San'in Region Photo:Matsue Castle The next spot shown in the video is Miho Shrine in Shimane. This solemn shrine is dedicated to Ebisu (the Japanese god of fishermen). The beautiful Matsue Castle, also known as Chidori Castle, is one of the few remaining castles from the Edo period in Japan, and is known as a spot where you can see the entire city of Matsue from the castle tower. The castle can be seen at 2:48 in the video. It's a must-visit destination for history lovers. Shimane also features one of the most ancient and important Shinto shrines, "Izumo Taisha." Its shimenawa (a rope used to cordon off consecrated areas) triumphs as the largest in Japan. It's believed that Izumo Shrine enshrines a matchmaking deity, and is a famous power spot. At the Adachi Museum of Art, you can enjoy Japanese paintings and ceramic works by masters from modern to contemporary times. The 50,000-square-meter Japanese garden is so beautiful that it was ranked number one on the list of best Japanese gardens. It consists of 6 beautiful gardens, such as the "White Gravel and Pine Garden," the "Moss Garden," and more. In Yonago, Tottori, dozens of jizo statues (statues of Buddhist deities) are lined up along the Kamogawa riverside. One of the main events at the Kamogawa Festival in August is the "Jizo walk," where participants walk across the city hunting for jizo statues. Taikodani Inari Shrine in Tsuwano, Shimane is one of the most important Inari Shrines in Japan, and features an approach lined with closely placed torii gates, forming a red, tunnel-like entrance. We strongly recommend visiting here if you're traveling to the San'in region. By the way, the name "San'in" comes from the name of the road "San'indo," a road in the San'in region from when the province was divided into seven administrative divisions. Summary of Japan's San-In Region The San'in region is full of nature, history, and has plenty of sights to see. Hopefully we've got you interested in this hidden gem. Be sure to check out the video if you haven't yet, as it contains some great footage of the San'in region, as well as information not featured in the article. This video is "A Healing journey in Ehime - A Paradise of Love and Princesses - (Ehime Prefecture Tourism PR Video)"(いやされて愛媛旅~愛と姫の楽園~(愛媛県観光PR動画)) created by "EhimePref". One of Japan's leading tourist destinations, Ehime Prefecture, in the Shikoku region, is divided into three areas: Toyo, Chuyo and Nanyo. Toyo is one of the most popular tourist spots, with Imabari City and Saijo City, which are known for its Imabari Towels. The Nishi Seto Expressway has nine islands connecting Ehime and Hiroshima, with a total length of about 70 km, and we recommend the canyoning route for cyclists. The Chuyo area is the center of Ehime! Dogo Onsen, a World Heritage Site, is located in Matsuyama City, where the prefectural capital is located. There are many tourist spots related to Japanese history and culture there. The area around Dogo Onsen Station can be used for rickshaw strolls and more, which provides an authentic Japanese atmosphere! The Nanyo area is rich in nature, including the sea, rivers, and forests, as well as Ozu City, known as the little Kyoto of Iyo, and Uchiko, one of Nanyo's most famous scenic spots, where you can see nostalgic Japanese scenery that will take you back in time. This video introduces some of the highlights of Ehime, Shikoku's Instagram-worthy scenery and sightseeing spots.
