Chokaisan-Tobishima Geopark, Nikaho City, Akita Prefecture, Japan Video Introduction This video, titled “[4K UHD ] Mt. Chokai/Tobishima Geopark: Fresh Greenery and Mototaki Falls (Shot on GH5 With Gimbal)” ([ 4K UHD ]鳥海山・飛島ジオパーク: 新緑の元滝伏流水 Moto-taki Waterfall ( shot on GH5 with Gimbal)), was released by “AQUA Geo Graphic.” Mt. Chokai & Tobishima Geopark is the name of Akita Fuji (秋田富士), Dewa Fuji (出羽富士), and Shonai Fuji (庄内富士), which have been selected as some of the 100 Famous Mountains and 100 Famous Geographical Features of Japan. Furthermore, it is also the name of the "Mysterious Island Tobishima" and "Chokai National Park," which is located about 30 km west of Mt. Chokai, and was recognized as a Japan Geopark in 2016. Nowadays it's called Mt. Chokai, but in ancient times it was known as "Torimiyama" and you could see a 360-degree view of the horizon from the top. Due to volcanic eruptions and other volcanic activities, this view is no longer visible and it is now called Mt. Chokai. The overall theme is "The cycle of water and life created by the Japan Sea and the plateau," and the sub-theme is "Nature and life created by warm currents, active volcanoes, and spring water." In this article, we'll introduce the "Mototaki Underflow," an ethereal waterfall flowing down a rock face at the foot of Mt. Chokai in the Mt. Chokai & Tobishima Geopark area. What Exactly is a “Geopark”? Photo:Mototaki Underflow, Akita Prefecture The word "geopark" (“ジオパーク” jiopaaku in Japanese) is a combination of the words “geo” and “park.” It was selected for the purpose of learning about the natural environment and ecosystems that spread across the land, as well as the culture and industries that people have created. At present, there are 43 areas selected as Japan Geoparks, and 9 of them are also recognized as UNESCO Global Geoparks. As they are sometimes called "大地の公園" (Daichi no Kouen, lit. "Earth Parks") in Japanese, they are famous for the various scenery they offer throughout the year, and are especially popular during the fall with the autumn leaves change to beautiful shades of red and yellow. There is also a sake brewery in the area that uses clean spring water, so if you like sake, be sure to take a tour of the brewery. The Mototaki Underflow Located at the Foot of Mt. Chokai Photo:Mototaki Underflow, Akita Prefecture The Mototaki Underflow is located at Mt. Chokai in Nikaho City, Akita Prefecture. Although it is called "Mototaki" (元滝, lit. "source waterfall"), the original source of the subterranean waterfall is currently closed to traffic, and the Mototaki Underflow is located about 200 meters downstream. As you can see from 0:42 in the video, the waterfall is relatively small, only 5 meters tall and about 30 meters wide, yet 50,000 tons of water flow from it each day. The fantastic scenery created by the moss and the subterranean stream flowing out of the gaps in the green rocks is fascinating, and surely allows for some beautiful photos to share on Instagram. Recommended Sightseeing Destinations Around the Mt. Chokai & Tobishima Geopark Area Photo:Scenery from Hokotate Observatory, Akita Prefecture 1. Mt. Chokai Omonoimi Shrine/Fukura Kuchinomiya (Chokaisan Omonoimi Jinja Fukura Kuchinomiya) An old shrine, said to be the oldest shrine in the Shonai region, with origins dating back to 1963. It sits on the summit of Mt. Chokai, and there are two satomiya (shrines built in a village for the convenience of worshippers) called "Kuchinomiya" (口ノ宮, lit. "entrance shrines") at the foot of the mountain, one at Fukuura and the other at Warabioka. 2. The Shirai Rice Fields and Weirs This farmland was developed in 1800 based on the concept of rice fields for the Han-School of Shonai Chido-kan by Yadayu Shirai, the county representative of the Shonai domain. There are many innovative ways to heat and utilize the cool spring water of Mt. Chokai, and you can see the fruits of the wisdom of the area's ancestors here. It's a 10-minute drive east from Yuza Station. 3. Hokotate Observatory Mt. Chokai & Tobishima Geopark is also famous for its mountain climbing, and the Hokotate Observatory is a popular tourist spot where you can enjoy the magnificent view of Mt. Chokai. The observatory is located at the fifth station of the mountain, which can be reached by car, so it's possible to stop by during your drive, and there are a number of mountain lodges on the way to the summit, so you can take breaks as you go. When climbing the mountain, we recommend asking for a mountain guide or participate in a geotour so that you can learn more about Mt. Chokai. 4. Chokai Blue Line Chokai Blue Line is a mountainous road that rises from zero to 1,100 meters above sea level, and during the fall, amongst the autumn foliage, it offers a spectacular view worthy of any bucket list. Summary of Mt. Chokai & Tobishima Geopark Photo:Mototaki Underflow, Akita Prefecture Mt. Chokai and Tobishima Geopark has become a nature-rich spot called "緑のダム" (The Green Dam) due to the planting of beech trees by the townspeople to preserve water quality and purify the water source. In addition to sightseeing, be sure to try some gourmet foods like delicious Akita Iwagaki Oysters, which contain many minerals from the spring water! 【Tripadvisor】Mt. A Look at the Cute Eurasian Red Squirrel of Hokkaido! These Critters Are Something Out of a Fairy Tale!

Video Introduction of the Eurasian Red Squirrel of Hokkaido This video, titled "The Eurasian Red Squirrel Playing in a Field of Pink and Blue Flowers [2020]" (エゾリス駆ける、ブルーとピンクのお花畑は そのまんまメルヘンの世界だった 2020), was uploaded by "Shinji kawamura." The video shows footage of the Eurasian red squirrel eating nuts and running around cutely. What the Cute Eurasian Red Squirrels of Hokkaido Look Like Photo:A Eurasian Red Squirrel, Hokkaido The Eurasian red squirrel weighs approximately 300 to 410 grams and is approximately 22 to 27 cm in length, which is about the size of a kitten. A baby squirrel is about 6 to 8 centimeters long, making it very small and cute looking. The tail of the Eurasian red squirrel is covered with hair that is roughly 5 cm long, which makes the body of the squirrel itself appear larger. The hair itself is very fine, so you can see in the video how it fluffs up whenever the squirrel moves around. [Video] 4:04 - The cute tail of the Eurasian red squirrel Lifespan of the Eurasian Red Squirrel Photo:A Eurasian Red Squirrel, Hokkaido Natural predators of the Eurasian red squirrel include birds, such as crows, owls, and hawks, as well as cats and foxes. They live in nests in trees to protect themselves from their natural predators. The life span of the Eurasian red squirrel is said to be 2 to 4 years, but in some cases, they may live as long as 6 years. In Japan, they have to endure the harsh cold of Hokkaido, but they do not hibernate. Before winter is in full swing, they gather nuts and bury them in the ground to prepare for winter. Starting from around December, Hokkaido is covered with snow, so it's difficult for humans to tell where the squirrels have hidden their nuts. However, the Eurasian red squirrel can pinpoint the location of buried nuts and eat them. And while the winter coat of the Eurasian red squirrel is characterized by its fluffiness, it changes into a summer coat during the spring and summer months, giving them a slender appearance. Where to Spot the Eurasian Red Squirrel Photo:A wooden path at Maruyama Park, Sapporo The cute and cuddly Eurasian red squirrel lives in places where it's very cold, such as the northern part of Eurasia. In Japan, they can only be seen in Hokkaido. They inhabit the plains and subalpine forests of Hokkaido. It's difficult to go to a natural forest to see Eurasian red squirrels, even if you would like to see them in person after watching a video. We recommend Maruyama Park in Sapporo, Hokkaido. You may be lucky enough to see wild Eurasian red squirrels in Maruyama Park, a park surrounded by nature in Sapporo, Japan. In addition, an albino Eurasian red squirrel was spotted on the campus of Obihiro University of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine and blew up on the internet for a while. Incidentally, the Birds and Wildlife Protection Law prohibits the breeding of Eurasian red squirrels. Therefore, you have to go to Hokkaido to see them in Japan. If you want to see these cute little creatures, consider making a trip to Hokkaido! Summary of the Eurasian Red Squirrel Japan offers beautiful natural scenery in each of its four seasons. In this article, we introduced the cute Eurasian red squirrels of Hokkaido. They look like something out of a fairy tale. The sight of them running around energetically in a field of flowers is quite relaxing. Hokkaido is the only place in Japan where you can see Eurasian red squirrels in the wild. In Maruyama Park in Sapporo, there is a possibility to see Eurasian red squirrels in their natural habitat. If you're planning a trip to Hokkaido, consider checking them out? Because Yume no Tsuribashi is located deep in the mountains, entry is prohibited after sunset. Furthermore, the entire tour of the Sumata Gorge Promenade Course takes approximately 60 to 80 minutes, so visitors should allow plenty of time for this tour. In addition, be sure to wear appropriate clothing. The path to Yume no Tsuribashi has many steep slopes and stairs, and is made up of gravel. Therefore, it's recommended that you wear comfortable sneakers. Yume no Tsuribashi is also a very popular spot for taking Instagram photos in Japan due to its fantastic scenery. However, the bridge can be somewhat wobbly, and some people accidentally drop their smartphones or cameras while getting absorbed in taking pictures. Such an accident can really kill the mood, so please be careful. After taking the sand bath, make sure to thoroughly wash off any sand and then take a dip in a regular hot spring to refresh. It is perfectly acceptable for women to take a sand bath without removing their make up and children can enjoy the sand baths too! What Are the Benefits of Taking a Sand Bath at Ibusuki Hot Spring? Night view video introduction of Sensoji Temple in Taito Ward, Tokyo This video, titled "Asakusa Sensoji Temple at Night" (浅草雷門 昼間とは別世界 浅草寺の夜景 - Asakusa Sensoji Temple at Night), was created by "AQUA Geo Graphic." The video shows scenes of Sensoji Temple at night. Sensoji Temple is located in Tokyo's Taito Ward (台東区, taito-ku). Every day from sunset to around 11:00 in the evening, the Kaminarimon Gate (雷門, kaminarimon), Nakamise Shopping Street (仲見世, nakamise), and the main hall of Sensoji Temple are lit up beautifully. Even at night, visitors are allowed to worship at the brilliant red Kaminarimon Gate and the temple itself. Many people pop in to visit after checking in at a hotel, or while waiting for the bullet train. Nighttime Events at Sensoji Temple Photo:Nakamise Street at night, Tokyo Sensoji Temple is hosting a light-up event to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the Edo Period, aiming to promote the image of Asakusa as an international city under the slogan "Asakusa - Shining in the 21st Century" (輝く21世紀の浅草). The main hall, Hozomon Gate, and the five-storied pagoda of Sensoji Temple are lit up, creating a mystical, breathtaking night view. As seen from 2:13 in the video, on Nakamise Shopping Street, there are also painted shutter murals known as "asakusa emaki (浅草絵巻)" painted on the gates to the shops. The night view of Sensoji Temple, with Tokyo Skytree soaring into the sky opposite Nakamise Shopping Street, coupled with beautiful weeping cherry blossoms, is great for taking Instagram photos, so be sure to bring along your camera when exploring the area. More About Sensoji Temple Photo:Sensoji Temple Kaminaramon, Asakusa, Tokyo Sensoji Temple is known for being the oldest temple in Tokyo, on top of having huge numbers of visitors (ranked within the top 10 temples in all of Japan). The temple belongs to the Sho-Kannon Sect and is dedicated to Kannon Bosatsu (the Bodhisattva of compassion), with a statue of the deity enshrined within Kannon Hall. Sensoji Temple is the only temple in Tokyo to be part of the "Bando Sanjusankasho" (The Bando 33 Kannon Pilgrimage) (#13), a series of 33 Buddhist temples in Eastern Japan sacred to Goddess Kannon. Additionally, Sensoji Temple is also the only Temple in Tokyo to be part of the "Sites of Edo Sacred to Kannon Bosatsu" (江戸三十三箇所観音霊場の札所) (#1). Sensoji Temple's omikuji are known to contain many bad luck fortunes, but why not test your luck?! We also recommend purchasing an omamori, a protective charm. It's a promotional video of Koyasan, a world heritage site in Wakayama prefecture in Japan's Kansai region. Koyasan is an ascetic school for Shingon Esoteric Buddhism that was opened by Kobo Daishi Kukai in Wakayama prefecture approximately 1,200 years ago. Explore the charms of Koyasan a power spot in Wakayama prefecture said to bring good fortune. Koyasan - A Sightseeing Destination in Wakayama Prefecture With 1,200 Years of History Photo:Kongobuji Temple, Koyasan The area around Koyasan in Wakayama Prefecture is a famous place revered as a sacred place for Japanese Buddhism along with Hieizan Enryakuji Temple located in Shiga, Kyoto. Kobo Daishi, the founder of the Shingon sect, built Koyasan in Wakayama in 816, more than 1,200 years ago. Kongobuji Temple, the head temple of the Koyasan Shingon sect, is a historic religious city with more than 100 temples. You can see Kongobuji Temple illuminated by lights after sunset at 5:57 in the video. In 2015, a commemorative service celebrating the 1200th anniversary of the founding of Koyasan was held. Sightseeing On Koyasan Photo:Danjo Temple There are many scenic tourist spots in the Koyasan area surrounded by nature. At the entrance to Koyasan, there is a bright, red-painted gate called Daimon Gate. Danjo Garan, located just beyond Daimon Gate, is the main hall where the main Buddhist services of Koyasan are held. On the approach to the inner temple, there are graves of famous Sengoku warlords, such as Nobunaga Oda, Takeda Shingen, the father and son graves of Takeda Katsuyori, Akechi Mitsuhide, Ishida Mitsunari, and the Toyotomi clan. An Enjoyable Sightseeing Trip to Koyasan Photo:Kongobuji Temple, Koyasan We highly recommend visiting the temples and taking in the beautiful scenery. You can find beautiful views at the temples during spring when the cherry blossoms are in bloom, and in the fall when the autumn leaves have changed to brilliant shades of red and orange. The weather is good in both spring and autumn, so you can enjoy sightseeing around all of the lesser-known spots of Koyasan as well. The precincts are quite large, so we recommend sightseeing by car if possible. Many people visit the temples of Koyasan and receive shuin stamps to commemorate their visit. Be sure to purchase popular souvenirs, such as the incense of Koyasan Daishido (高野山大師堂) and Mirokuishi steamed buns from Kasakuni (みろく石本舗かさ國). A Look at the Temple's History Photo:Jindaiji, Chofu, Tokyo The temple’s name is derived from Jinja-Daio (深沙大王), the Buddhist water god who protected the Chinese monk Xuanzang (玄奘三蔵) as he travelled to Tianzhu (天竺) in search of Buddhist scriptures. During the year 733, (the Nara Period), Jindaiji Temple was founded by Manku Shonin (満功上人) as a temple of the Hosso sect. Following that, 800 years later in 1646 and again in 1865 during Edo Period, the temple was twice devastated by fires. The current main hall was reconstructed during the Taisho Period (1912-1926). Next to Jindaiji Temple, you'll find the Jindai Botanical Gardens. The gardens were once formally part of the temple grounds. The temple's principal object of worship is the figure of the Amida Buddha (Amitabha) placed in the main hall. Other sacred items are enshrined in the temple as well. These include the copper seated statue of the Gautama Buddha (銅造釈迦如来倚像) designated a National Treasure, the Bonsho (梵鐘, temple bell) designated an Important Cultural Property, and the 12-armed Goddess of Mercy, Kannon (Avalokiteshvara) (十二支観世音). Chinoike Jigoku at Beppu Onsen This video is a 4K video that introduces Chinoike Jigoku at Beppu onsen, Beppu, Oita. This video was published by "TokyoStreetView - Japan The Beautiful." Seeing the blood red hot springs and hearing the name "Blood Pond of Hell" might cause some readers fear. Well before you get too scared let us explain what kind of place Oita's Chinoike Jigoku is. Be sure to follow along with the video! Chinoike Jigoku Photo:Beppu's hot springs at night There are many famous hot spring resorts in Japan. Among them, Beppu City in Oita Prefecture in Japan's Kyushu region is the most abundant in Japan in terms of both the sheer number of hot springs and the amount of water that flows from the springs. Beppu onsen is one of the most popular tourist spots in Japan. Even regular city hotels have natural hot springs here. Chinoike Jigoku, located in the Beppu area, is a natural hell with a distinctive red hot spring. It has a long history and has existed in Beppu for over 1,300 years. Take a tour of Chinoike Jigoku and the surrounding area to enjoy the charm of this unique Japanese hot spring. Must See Spots and Key Points of Chinoike Jigoku Photo:Chinoike Jigoku Once you go through the gate, Jigoku mon (lit. "Hells Gate"), the first thing you'll see is the vivid red springs. The spring is shown from 0:56 in the video, and if you've never seen it before, you'll be really surprised at how red it actually is. Chinoike Jigoku looks like a pool of boiling hot blood as it bubbles and steams. This acidic melanterite spring is around 78 degrees Celsius. Why is the spring so red you might be wondering. This is because red hot mud, containing an abundance of magnesium oxide and iron oxide, erupts from the geological strata after a chemical reaction occurs naturally under high temperature and pressure underground. There is also a footbath at Chinoike Jigoku where you can dip your feet in the red hot water. After sightseeing, we recommend buying a souvenir called "血の池軟膏" (Blood Pond Ointment), a skin disease remedy made from the hot mud of Chinoike Jigoku. The "Hell Tour" of Beppu Onsen In addition to Chinoike Jigoku, there are many other locations called "Hells." Photo:Umi Jigoku Beppu Onsen's "Jigoku" hell tour includes 7 spots: Umi Jigoku, Oniishi Bouzu Jigoku, Kamado Jigoku, Oniyama Jigoku, Shiraike Jigoku, Chinoike Jigoku, and Tatsumaki Jigoku. These 7 spots are all part of the Beppu Jigoku Association. Chinoike Jigoku is easily accessible by train and bus. First, take the train from Beppu Station to Kamegawa Station in Oita Prefecture, and then take a bus to Kannawa. Admission to Chinoike Jigoku is 400 yen for adults and high school students and 200 yen for junior high school students and elementary school students, and there is also a discounted "Hell Tour" ticket that allows you to visit all seven natural hells (*Prices as of July 2020). Summary of Chinoike Jigoku As you can see in the video, Chinoike Jigoku is an amazing tourist destination where you can see a vivid red, natural hot spring. Business hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (as of July 2020). If you're driving, there are total of 700 free parking spots available for the 7 Jigoku hot springs (as of July 2020). This video, titled "Japan - Neons & Sakuras," was released by Oliver Astrologo. Japan is a country where old traditions and the latest technology are fused together. Tokyo is lit up like something out of a science fiction movie, with neon LED's twinkling in the background. People hurry to get where they need to be on crowded trains and at the scramble intersection in Shibuya. At the same time, the film shows women and priests in Wakayama, where temples are surrounded by nature and in harmony with mountains and forests. In contrast to the neat rows of bamboo groves and torii, there are alleyways in the center of the city, where artisans make dyed goods and costumes, and people work as aikido masters and geiko. -
