You’ve probably heard the beloved song “Watarase Bridge” by female singer Chisato Moritaka at least once.
Beyond its melody, the wistful lyrics draw you into the song’s world.
Has it already been 40 years? It was one of my favorite songs, and it brought me to tears.
Watarase Bridge is in Ashikaga, Tochigi Prefecture. This photo was taken slightly to the east, from Sano, Tochigi Prefecture.
On New Year’s Day at dawn, I saw Mount Fuji from the Watarase River. It was Mount Fuji at the first sunrise of the year.
Mount Fuji capped with snow makes a wonderful sight.

A mantis in late autumn. Its charm is irresistibly cute. Sadly, it seems it cannot survive the winter.

The ginkgo tree-lined avenue in front of our Ekimae station is magnificent. It was a late-autumn day.

In late autumn, roses bloom in a nearby park. They are Mary Rose. They are unbearably beautiful.

In mid-October, the hot days continued until then, and it looked like a summer day, but suddenly it cooled down and became a sign of autumn. Perhaps sensing this, the roses in the nearby park were blooming all at once. Following April, it bloomed three times this year, in July and October.
No matter how many times you see it, it's a beautiful sight.
