This is the scenery of Hachimantai in Iwate Prefecture. Hachimantai is a 1,614 m high mountain and surrounding plateau that straddles Akita and Iwate prefectures. It is included in Hisaya Fukada's Japan 100 Famous Mountains, and this mountain area is designated as Towada-Hachimantai National Park. When I parked my car and was shooting the scenery, a white rainbow appeared on the road. Although it is a bleak landscape, it is a rare phenomenon, so I posted it.
