At the Teppō Blacksmith Residence (Inoue Sekuemon Machiya History Museum), we are holding the 4th special exhibition “The Architecture of the Teppō Blacksmith Residence — Secrets Above and Below Ground”!🏠

The Teppō Blacksmith Residence, the only surviving combined workshop and dwelling of an Edo-period teppō blacksmith in the country, has its entire site designated as a Tangible Cultural Property of Sakai City.

Opened as the Machiya History Museum in March 2024 (Reiwa 6), this is our first special exhibition focused on “buildings.” We display architectural materials such as illustrated maps showing changes to the site and structures, and present the results of preservation and repair work and archaeological investigations✨
