‘Kami-Suwa Kaido Town Walk and Sake Stroll’ Confirmed!! ■Saturday, October 5, 2024 1:00 PM–5:00 PM This event invites you to stroll along about 500 meters of the Koshu Kaido and visit five sake breweries lined up there to enjoy a town walk and fine local sake. Following last year, the main venue will again be set up as a pedestrian zone. We warmly look forward to your participation. *Please note that on October 5, individual paid tastings at each of the five breweries and the five-brewery tour will be suspended all day.* About the Kami-Suwa Kaido Town Walk and Sake Stroll Along the Koshu Kaido near JR Kami-Suwa Station, five sake breweries stand side by side. Locally known as the “Suwa Five Breweries,” they work together with residents who cherish the town’s history and culture to preserve the region’s food traditions. In 1998, local residents planned and launched a simultaneous brewery-opening day so everyone could enjoy the local sake brewed by the Suwa Five Breweries. This year marks the 40th edition of the event. Beyond local sake and food, the event invites locals and visitors from inside and outside the prefecture and from abroad to enjoy the entire area around JR Kami-Suwa Station together as part of the Suwa Five Breweries simultaneous brewery-opening day. You can walk among the five breweries, choose the brewers’ recommended sakes, and enjoy tasting and comparing them. Each brewery will offer at least five local sake varieties for visitors to taste. Enjoy Shinshu’s food culture at snack stalls run by local residents.
