This is the scenery of Hachimantai in Iwate Prefecture. Hachimantai is a 1,614 m high mountain and surrounding plateau that straddles Akita and Iwate prefectures. It is included in Hisaya Fukada's Japan 100 Famous Mountains, and this mountain area is designated as Towada-Hachimantai National Park.
The mountain trail connecting Steamoyu Onsen and the summit of Mt. Hachimantai passes through Oyachi, Naganuma, Bushi Yachi, and the Kusanoyu branch, and although it is minor, the scenery is wonderful, making it the perfect course to enjoy a quiet mountain walk. You can take a walk while enjoying the forest scenery that changes with the altitude.
