The 37km Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route, which starts at Tateyama Station in Toyama Prefecture and leads to Shinano Omachi in Nagano Prefecture, is a popular mountain sightseeing route with mountains of the 3,000m Elevation class.
From Tateyama Station on the Toyama Prefecture side, take the cable car to Bijodaira and go to Tateyama Murodo via Yarigahara. Murodo is known as the highest station in Japan, and the sightseeing observatory of Mt. Murodo offers a panoramic view of the Northern Alps.
The area around the "Snow Valley" on the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route is the spot with the most snow accumulation along the route. The snow that falls in winter forms a huge snow wall, and even in mid-May, you can walk between the snow walls of more than 10 meters.
After passing through the Kurobe Dam area of the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route, you will arrive at Shinano Omachi from Ogizawa via the scenic spots of the Hinatasan Highlands.
