One of the major features of the regeneration of fireflies is the use of hot spring water as a water source, and the spring quality of Tokachigawa Onsen is a rare "plant-based mall hot spring" in the world that contains a lot of plant components. Because it contains plant components, it contains a lot of minerals that are essential for the reproduction of diatoms, which are food for snails. This is the first time in Japan that fireflies have been successfully regenerated using 100% hot spring water. Heike fireflies were distributed from Kyushu to Hokkaido, Eastern Siberia and Korea, and inhabited many waterside environments surrounding wetlands and rice paddies.
