The National Institute of Genetics, located in Mishima City, Shizuoka Prefecture
Recently, on Saturday, April 5, 2025, the institute held its one-day-a-year public open day.
In addition to viewing approximately 650 cherry trees of about 230 varieties planted on the grounds, visitors enjoyed lectures and exhibitions.
A free shuttle bus from Mishima Station drew a long queue at the boarding point at times, and many people clearly enjoyed the visit.
Although the public can visit only one day a year, it truly is wonderful to see so many different cherry varieties here!
This year, the row of cherry trees in front of the facility was nearly in full bloom and looked beautiful!
See you next year.
