At Todaiji Temple Nigatsu-do in Nara City, Nara Prefecture, a traditional event called "Omizutori" is held every year for two weeks from March 1st ~ 14th to announce the arrival of spring.
Originally, in February of the lunar calendar, a non-retirement ceremony called "Shuni-kai" was held for more than two weeks. The well-known "water harvesting" refers to a part of the ritual in this procession.
During the period, the Rengyō (monks who have purified their minds and bodies) chant the treasure name in front of the eleven-sided Kannon, repent of their deeds, and continue to pray for peace and tranquility under heaven.
The powerful sight of the "torch", which is the highlight of "water harvesting", is a must-see.
The videos show the traditional ceremony from the first day to the last day.
