The Yamimi Shrine Annual Festival, which was traditionally held on May 1 each year, will from this year hold only the main ceremony on May 1, while the offering of meals, the heigomukae ritual, the great gohei pressing, the King’s Dance, the lion dance, and other dedication events will take place on May 4. Please be aware of this change in schedule.
Yamimi Shrine Annual Festival
Thursday, May 1
Main ceremony
Sunday, May 4 (national holiday)
Offering of meals, heigomukae ritual, great gohei pressing, King’s Dance, lion dance, and other dedication events
Note: The dates and times for events such as the King’s Dance and the lion dance are posted on the Yamimi Shrine website linked below, but because these are sacred rituals their timing often shifts. Even if you only wish to see the King’s Dance, we recommend waiting at Yamimi Shrine from early afternoon and keeping your schedule free through the late evening.
