屈斜路コタンアイヌ民族資料館　※休館中｜弟子屈を楽しむ｜弟子屈なび｜北海道弟子屈町
昔からアイヌの人々が暮らしていた屈斜路湖畔のコタンに建つ前衛的な外観の建物。これは釧路市立博物館や湿原展望台の設計で日本建築学会賞を受賞した、釧路市出身の建築家毛綱毅曠氏の設計で建てられたもので、入口に並ぶ７本の列柱は宇宙の時間を象徴する聖数7を意味し、本館の円形ドームは天円地方宇宙の建築構造を、内部に立つ31本の柱は山と森を象徴しています。 展示物はユーカラの森、コタンの大地、コタンの移り変り、山野を駆ける、コタンを支える人々の5つのテーマからなり、熊まつりのスライド上映もおこなっています。アイヌの人々の暮らしや文化の息吹きが聞こえてきます。
