Daisekirinzan in Kunigami District, Okinawa Prefecture This video, "Oishi Forest Mountain|A walk in the sky" (大石林山 空中散歩), was created by "Okinawaworld." Daisekirinzan is a mountain in Okinawa's Kunigami District, about a 3-minute drive from Cape Hedo (辺戸岬, hedo-misaki), the northernmost point of the main island of Okinawa. As seen from 0:15 in the video, the island has a karst landscape created by limestone from 250 million years ago. The many strange rock formations and beautiful scenery is reminiscent of Guilin in China, known for its depictions in ink paintings. Nearby is Ashimui (安須杜), which has been a sacred place since ancient times. From Cape Hedo, the mountains seem steep and forbidding, but once you actually enter the mountains, you'll find a peaceful paradise of subtropical flora and fauna. Most of Daisekirinzan is designated as a specially protected area of Yanbaru National Park. You can enjoy the magnificent nature of Yanbaru while making your way through the two main trekking courses. The History of Daisekirinzan Photo:Daisekirinzan, Okinawa Daisekirinzan is a "quasi-national park" in Okinawa, in accordance with the Natural Parks Act. The park is managed with the aim of protecting the beauty of nature and contributing to the health, recuperation, and knowledge of Japanese citizens. On September 15, 2016, along with the official designation of Yanbaru National Park, a part of the area previously designated as Okinawa Kaigan Quasi-National Park was transferred to Yanbaru National Park. Daisekirinzan is a must-visit sightseeing area in Okinawa, even winning the "Tripadvisor Excellence Award 2018" on TripAdvisor for the fifth consecutive year. The Two Main Trekking Courses of Daisekirinzan Photo:Banyan Tree in Oishi Forest Mountain, Okinawa ① Strange Rock / Churaumi Panorama Course As seen from 0:36 in the video, this is a course where you can experience the tropical karst landscape at the northernmost tip of Okinawa. It takes about 60 minutes to complete the 1,200m course. You can see the strange rocks and massive boulders from 0:45 in the video. In addition to strange rocks and boulders, there are also many places of worship, such as the "Stone Forest Wall," which is said to be full of spiritual power. There is also an observation deck where you can enjoy a panoramic view, and during good weather conditions, you can even see Yoron Island (与論島, yoron-to) and Okinoerabu Island (沖永良部島, okinoerabu-jima) in Kagoshima Prefecture (鹿児島県, kagoshima-ken). There is also a barrier-free course, which is 600 meters long and takes about 20 minutes to complete It's designed for the elderly and people in wheelchairs to enjoy. As seen from 2:00 in the video, there's also Eboshi-iwa Rock (鳥帽子岩) towering into the sky, as well as the mysterious Nabe-ike Pond (鍋池). ② Yanbaru Forest Course The Yanbaru Forest Course can be seen from 2:09 in the video. Even in the midst of Daisekirinzan, this is an area where the subtropical trees grow especially densely. It takes about 30 minutes to traverse the 1,000m-long course, and you can enjoy the magnificent natural scenery, including the huge banyan tree seen from 2:32 in the video. Summary of Daisekirinzan Photo:The Phantom Flower Mucuna Macrocarpa, Okinawa In addition to the two famous trekking courses, there are many other sightseeing spots in Daisekirinzan. The Okinawa Stone Culture Museum (沖縄石の文化博物館, okinawa-ishi no bunka hakubutsukan) is a geological and ethnic museum centered around Okinawan stones. Gajumaru Road (ガジュマルロード), also known as the "Path of the Wind" (風の道, kaze no michi) is a road winding along gorgeous scenery. If you're lucky, you might even get the chance to see the rare "Mucuna Macrocarpa," which grows naturally in the mountains of Yanbaru. Even Okinawans rarely come across this "phantom flower." In recent years, Daisekirinzan has been attracting attention as the largest spiritual area in Okinawa. Video introduction to Saiho-ji Temple (Koke-ji Temple) in Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture, Japan Photo:The garden at Saiho-ji, a moss temple in Kyoto This video, titled "[8K] Autumn Leaves at Saiho-ji (Moss Temple)" ([8K] 西芳寺(苔寺)と紅葉 Saihoji Temple (moss temple) and autumn leaves), was uploaded by "AQUA Geo Graphic." Be sure to enjoy the beauty of Saiho-ji, a kokedera (moss temple) in Kyoto, and the breathtaking scenery of the temple in autumn. Saiho-ji Temple History Photo:The garden at Saiho-ji, a moss temple in Kyoto Saiho-ji Temple, also known as a "kokedera" (moss temple), is located in Nishikyo, Kyoto, in Japan's Kansai region. The temple was built by the Japanese Buddhist priest Gyoki at the order of Emperor Shomu during the Nara Period (710-794 A.D.), and is a famous temple with more than 1,300 years of history, whose grounds are covered with more than 120 varieties of moss. Throughout its long history, and changes in religious denominations, people throughout the ages have been captivated by the temple's beauty. During the Kamakura period (1185-1333 A.D.), it was a temple of the Jodo sect of Buddhism, but was destroyed by warfare. However, in 1339, the temple was restored as a Zen Buddhist temple by the famous Buddhist monk, calligrapher, poet, and master gardener Muso Kokushi. The garden at Saiho-ji Temple has served as a model for the gardens at Kinkakuji (the Golden Pavilin) and Ginkakuji (the Silver Pavilion) in Kyoto. The Beautiful Garden of Saiho-ji Temple, a Moss Temple and World Cultural Heritage Photo:The garden at Saiho-ji, a moss temple in Kyoto The main attraction of Saiho-ji Temple is, as the name "moss temple" implies, the moss that covers the temple grounds, and the garden created by the master gardener Muso Kokushi. The upper section is a dry landscape garden, while the lower section is a strolling pond garden. The upper level, however, is currently closed to the public. Visitors often pray at the temple after reciting sutras and then stroll around the garden. The main attraction of the lower section of the garden at Saiho-ji Temple is Golden Pond (黄金池, Ogonchi), also called "Shinji-ike" (心字池, Heart-shaped Pond) because it's shaped like the Japanese character for "heart" (心). When the autumn leaves are at their best, the contrast between the temple's green moss and the autumn leaves dancing over the pond creates a beautiful scene. The teahouse Shonan-tei (湘南亭) is one of the highlights of the lower section, and is said to have been rebuilt by Sen no Shoan, the second son of Sen no Rikyu, a renowned Japanese tea master. The view of Golden Pond from the tsukimidai (月見台, moon-viewing platform) overhanging the north side of the teahouse is truly spectacular. Shonan-tei is also designated as an Important Cultural Property by the government of Japan. The upper section of the garden is not open to the public, but in Shitoan, a hall dedicated to the temple's founder, are enshrined the tablets of the founder Gyoki, Takaoka Shinno (a Japanese prince), and Muso Kokushi, as well as wooden statues of various prominent Japanese figures. On the upper level, there is a dry landscape garden. The dry landscape garden is a place where visitors can experience the history of the garden, as the masonry remains unchanged the temple was created by Muso Kokushi in 1339. The best time to see the lush moss at Saiho-ji Temple is during the rainy season, and the best time to see the autumn leaves is in November. Photo:The garden at Saiho-ji, a moss temple in Kyoto The best time to enjoy the contrast of moss and autumn leaves is from mid to late November, and the best time to see the 120-plus species of moss turn lush shades of green is typically from June to July, during Japan's rainy season. The name "Okuzure" (をくずれ, sometimes romanized as "wokuzure") uses an unconventional spelling and is said to come from a dialectical pronunciation of local place name "Okuzure" (大崩, おくずれ, romanized as "okuzure"). Okuzure Suisenkyo, is a colony of daffodils stretching from Sakuma Dam's lakeside to the Okuzure area. Nurtured by an abundance of natural light, the gorgeous sight of the pretty, white daffodils blooming along the river makes this a superb sightseeing location. Between late December and late January (the peak of the daffodil season) a yearly "Daffodil Festival" (水仙まつり, suisen matsuri) is held at Okuzure Suisenkyo, At night there are illuminations, giving the festival a different atmosphere compared to daytime. Be sure to take a look at the mystical scenes produced by the daffodils blooming along the lakeside in the video. [Video] 0:00 - Sakuma Dam Lakeside Area Daffodils What Makes Okuzure Suisenkyo, Special? When to Visit? Photo:Daffodils at Okuzure Suisenkyo The town of Kyonan in Chiba Prefecture is listed alongside Awaji Island (淡路島, awaji-shima) of Hyogo and Fukui's Echizen Coast (越前海岸, echizen kaigan) as one of the "Top 3 Daffodil Colonies in Japan." Encompassing around 2.2 kilometers of land, the space between Sakuma Dam and the Okuzure area is known as Okuzure Suisenkyo, and is best visited between late December and late January, when the area is covered in daffodils as far as the eye can see. With every rice paddy in the area being of the terraced variety, the embankments that make up this beautiful scenery and the slopes at the mountain's foot provide rich soil for some 60 million daffodils over a vast area of approximately 12 acres. During the peak season at Okuzure Suisenkyo, from mid-December to mid-January, a direct delivery service is offered to ship daffodils nationwide so that people can enjoy the elegant flowers and fragrance of daffodils at home. In January of each year, when the daffodils are at their best, Okuzure Suisenkyo, and Ezuki Narcissus Road play host to the Daffodil Festival, complete with illuminations. Source :YouTube screenshot Minamiboso is known for its warm climate, as expressed by an old saying "You don't need a single piece of underwear once you crest Mt. Nokogiri." Even during fierce winters with their westerly winds (westerlies in Japan bring cold air from Siberia over the country), thanks to a distribution of high pressures in the west and low pressure to the east inland, temperatures in the area remain relatively mild. Thanks to these weather conditions, daffodils from Kyonan are deeply scented and grow very tall. Okuzure Suisenkyo, and Ezuki Narcissus Road are popular daffodil spots in Kyonan. Okuzure Suisenkyo is a 2.2-km area stretching from the Sakuma Dam area to the Okuzure area. Ezuki Narcissus Road refers to a road in the Ezuki area fringed for 3 kilometers on both sides by daffodils. A 30–40 minute walk each direction, the road is a popular hiking trail. Enjoy a stroll accompanied by a lovely view and the welcoming scent of the daffodils blooming along the road. Each year in January, just as the daffodils begin to bloom, the Daffodil Festival is held at Okuzure Suisenkyo, and Ezuki Narcissus Road, attracting large numbers of tourists. During the daffodil festival a variety of activities are available, including "mochitsuki" (a Japanese tradition of pounding rice into a stretchy, sticky confection known as "mochi"), vegetable stores open, and events, such as stamp rallies, take place as well. At the shops lining the road, visitors can purchase daffodils in addition to the vegetables for sale. Sakuma Dam Park located on Ezuki Narcissus Road is the stage for a light show at night-time, and the daffodils appear to rise up out of the night, making for an ethereal spectacle. [Video] 1:47 - Daffodils and Illuminations Enjoy Cherry Blossoms in Spring at Sakuma Dam Lake Park Photo:Kawazu cherry blossoms at Sakuma Dam Lake Park Located on the shores of Sakuma Dam's reservoir lake, Sakuma Dam Lake Park (佐久間ダム湖親水公園, sakuma damuko shinsui koen) is known not only for its daffodils, but for its cherry blossoms too. Between early February and early March the Yoritomo cherry blossoms (also known as Kawazu sakura) bloom, followed by Yoshino cherries from late March to early April, and multi-layered cherry blossoms (八重桜, yae-zakura) from mid to late April, with a "Yoritomo Cherry Blossom Festival" (頼朝桜まつり, Yoritomo Sakura Matsuri) and "Cherry Blossom Festival" (桜まつり, Sakura Matsuri) being held accordingly. Be sure to enjoy mountain dyed pink by the beautiful cherry blossoms in spring. In the vicinity of Sakuma Dam, the daffodils start to bloom as early as December, and as the season comes to an end in February the early-blooming Yoritomo cherry blossoms begin to flower, making it possible to experience a rare duet of daffodils and cherry blossoms. You can enjoy flowers at Sakuma Dam Lake Park at their best from winter, when the daffodils bloom, right through the cherry blossom season in the spring. Okuzure Suisenkyo, Chiba Prefecture: Roundup The "Daffodil Festival," held at one of the "Top 3 Daffodil Colonies in Japan," Okuzure Suisenkyo, and Ezuki Narcissus Road, have highlights aplenty, offering not only gorgeous views of daffodils, but also illuminations, and a variety of other events. A field of daffodils stretching as far as the eye can see would make a pretty good phone background to keep as a reminder of this year's winter. Don't you think? 【TripAdvisor】Narcissus Road -

Sengokuhara – A Famous Place for Viewing Pampas Grass in Hakone, Kanagawa Photo:The pampas grass field of Sengokuhara, Hakone The pampas grass field of Sengokuhara is located on Mt. Hakone in Kanagawa Prefecture, in Japan's Kanto region. It is one of the "Top 50 Scenic Spots in Kanagawa" and "Top 100 Places to View Flowers in Kanagawa," and is well known for its pampas grass. At the foot of Mt. Daigatake, which was formed by the eruption of Mt. Hakone, lies a field of pampas grass, and in autumn, visitors can enjoy the beautiful scenery of golden plumes rippling in the wind. The fantastic scenery of the Sengokuhara pampas grass field has attracted a lot of attention and draws a large number of tourists every year. The beautiful golden color of the pampas grass field, which can only be seen during autumn in Japan, is a distinctive sight of autumn in Hakone. The main walking route for the pampas grass field is to go straight along the path and back, which takes about 30 minutes round-trip. The path through the grassy field is great for taking photos as well. [Video] 0:05 - Sengokuhara Pampas Grass Field Walking Path At the midpoint of the path, visitors can enjoy a lovely collaboration of mountains and the soft tips of the pampas grass. The Pampas Grass Field of Sengokuhara During Summer Sengokuhara's pampas grass field is of course famous for its pampas grass in autumn, but other seasons also have their own unique charms. In early summer, around June, visitors can enjoy the lush green landscape of the meadow that has grown back after the annual burn in the spring. The sight of the newly sprouted green pampas grass swaying in the wind is a different aesthetic than that of autumn. The green pampas grass and blue skies are a perfect contrast, and photographers/Instagrammers can take some delightful photos during this time as well. Spring at Sengokuhara – A Fiery Event on the Pampas Grass Field In the pampas grass field of Sengokuhara, an event called Yamayaki is held from mid to late March every year. Yamayaki, meaning "Mountain burning," is an annual event to maintain the pampas grass field. By burning the dead grass, it prevents the growth of weeds in the field and helps to return the meadow to its youthful appearance. The event is held in the mild spring weather, and spectator seating is available as well. The crackling fire and the intense heat are definitely worth a trip to Hakone. For lunch, we recommend trying the soba restaurant Hoshinoan (そば処 穂し乃庵, Soba-dokoro Hoshinoan) by the Sengokuhara pampas grass field. In the midst of the refreshing pampas grass field, you can enjoy the seasonal flavors and unique dishes made from the best ingredients while gazing out at the field of pampas grass. Summary of Sengokuhara's Pampas Grass Field The area around the Sengokuhara pampas grass field is home to numerous tourist attractions, including art museums, and its hot springs, characterized by their cloudy white water, are also popular. In particular, the hot springs of the Hakone Ichinoyu Group, which currently has 10 facilities in Hakone, are well known as affordable accommodations in Hakone, and feature dreamy open-air guest rooms as well. Let the warmth of the hot springs wash away your fatigue. Sengokuhara's pampas grass field is easily accessible from central Tokyo, as it's located just a short 2-hour and 15-minute bus ride from Shinjuku Station in Tokyo via the Odakyu Hakone Express Bus. In the video, you can see footage of the Hoshitoge Rice Terraces, which were selected by foreign tourists as the #1 bucket list view in Japan. The reflections on the water-filled rice fields and the sea of clouds that looks different throughout the day are captured in this beautiful 4K video. You can't help but be moved by these views. The video is accompanied by closed captions with tourist information, so be sure to turn them on while watching the video! Rice Fields in Japan Cultivation of rice fields in Japan is believed to have started during the Yayoi Period (300 BC - 250 AD). Rice has played an important role in the history of Japan, and has even been used historically as currency by farmers to pay taxes. Today, rice is a staple food in Japan, and while the exact number of rice fields in Japan is not known, according to the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, rice paddies account for 5.85 million acres of land. With Japan having a total landmass of 93.4 million acres, this means that more than 6% of Japan is rice paddies. Despite rice fields being made to grow rice, there are many places in Japan where you can see rice field art, such as Saitama and Aomori prefectures. The use of different colors of rice allows farmers to create incredible images inside the fields. Some other famous rice fields in Japan where you can see breathtaking views include the Shiroyone Senmaida Rice Terraces of Ishikawa Prefecture, the Maruyama Senmaida Rice Terraces of Mie Prefecture, and many more. Terraced rice fields prevent erosion, runoff, flooding, and other undesirable conditions, which is why they are often used in rice farming. Furthermore, they help nurture the land by allowing the water in the fields to slowly seep back into the ground, replenishing the groundwater. What Are the Hoshitoge Rice Terraces? Discover the Beautiful Scenery of Tokamachi, Niigata Photo:The Hoshitoge Rice Terraces of Tokamachi, Niigata Located in Tokamachi, Niigata, in Japan's Koshin'etsu region, the Hoshitoge Rice Terraces, numbering some 200 paddies, are spread across the hillside. Among the terraced rice fields scattered throughout the region, the Hoshitoge Rice Terraces are considered exceptionally beautiful. Depending on the weather and time of year, a sea of clouds and mirror-like water can also be seen at the rice terraces, making this a popular tourist spot with a variety of views. The Hoshitoge Rice Terraces have attracted attention both in Japan and overseas, as they were featured in the opening scene of NHK's historical drama "Tenchijin" (Heart of a Samurai) in 2009, and was recognized as a Japanese heritage that transcends borders by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries in 2022. The Hoshitoge Rice Terraces, a place where you can view the beautiful landscapes of Japan, are historic terraced rice fields created by the residents of Hoshitoge village more than 300 years ago. The area, including the village, has been selected as one of the "Top 100 Villages in Japan," and is one of Japan's leading scenic attractions. The Best Season to Visit the Hoshitoge Rice Terraces Photo:A sea of clouds over the Hoshitoge Rice Terraces, Tokamachi, Niigata One of the highlights of Hoshitoge Rice Terraces is the breathtakingly beautiful sea of clouds and mirror-like pools of water covering the fields. Unfortunately, the sea of clouds and mirror-like pools can only be seen during certain times of the year and under certain conditions. In addition, in order to capture the beautiful scenery in photographs, it's important to know in advance the best places to take photographs, so be sure to check before you visit. The best seasons for seeing a sea of clouds is during spring (late June) and autumn (mid-September). During these seasons, a sea of clouds is more likely to occur, and photographers from all over Japan flock to the area to enjoy the spectacular view. On the other hand, the best season for viewing the mirror-like pools is spring (around May to June) and autumn (around October to November). If you want to see both a sea of clouds and the mirror-like pools, be sure to visit in June. However, whether or not you can see a sea of clouds and a water mirror depends entirely on luck. The view in front of you will change depending on the conditions of the day. You will need some luck to take a good picture. However, if the conditions are right, you will be able to see a glowing sea of clouds or a scene enveloped in fog, and you will be able to capture a miraculous shot. Spring, Summer, Fall & Winter: Seasonal Views at the Hoshitoge Rice Terraces Photo:The Hoshitoge Rice Terraces covered in snow, Tokamachi, Niigata The Hoshitoge Rice Terraces are a beautiful sight in each of Japan's four seasons. In addition to the popular sea of clouds and mirror-like pools, you can enjoy colorful cherry blossoms in spring. In the summer, the rice terraces turn a deep green color and contrast with the bright blue sky. In autumn, the ears of rice shimmer with a golden glow, and in winter snow takes the place of water, creating a unique scene of pools of white snow. That being said, cars and motorcycles are unable to access the rice terraces when the snow gets too deep, and you may not be able to visit the rice fields during the winter. The Hoshitoge Rice Terraces also offer a different view during the daytime and at night. In particular, at sunrise and sunset, you can enjoy a beauty that is beyond words, no matter what season you visit in. Summary of the Hoshitoge Rice Terraces The Hoshitoge Rice Terraces are one of the most famous scenic views in Japan. Otsu Beach is located in Toyokoro, on Hokkaido, Japan's northernmost island and is a vast expanse of land overlooking the Pacific Ocean. It's known as one of the most popular tourist attractions in Hokkaido in recent years for its "Jewelry Ice," natural artwork created by nature. Among Hokkaido's many exciting tourist destinations, people are especially interested in seeing the jewelry ice. Enjoy the beautiful views of winter in Japan along with some relaxing music. [Video] 0:16 - A Fantastic Sunrise Over the Foggy Sea Where to See the Jewelry Ice – Otsu Beach in Toyokoro, Hokkaido Photo:Harunire Tree, Toyokoro, Hokkaido Toyokoro is located in Tokachi, Hokkaido. It takes about 40 minutes to reach from Obihiro by car. This city is near the mouth of the Tokachi River. It's called "The Birthplace of Tokachi" due to its history as the starting place where the Tokachi region expanded upstream from the mouth of the Tokachi River. This city's name came from the word "Toekoro." The name, meaning "The place where giant butterburs grow," comes from the Ainu language. From oceans and mountains to vast plains… Toyokoro is full of natural beauty. In addition to the sightseeing spots with beautiful waterside scenery such as Lake Choboshi (長節湖, Choboshiko) and Lake Yudo (湧洞湖, Yudoko), the town's symbol, the "Harunire Tree," is estimated to be 150 years old and is a popular photo spot where visitors can enjoy different expressions in each of Japan's four seasons. A short car ride will take you to the rich ocean, Otsu Beach, and Otsu Fishing Port (大津漁港, Otsugyoko), where you can see "jewelry ice." It's a relatively new, but popular, tourist attraction thanks to its beautiful scenery. Of course, the seafood here is delicious as well, so be sure to try some after sightseeing in the area. [Video] 0:59 - Mist Over the Tokachi River How Does the Jewelry Ice Form? When Can I see the Jewelry Ice? Photo:Jewlery ice, Toyokoro, Hokkaido "Jewelry ice" is a group of ice blocks that have washed up on the shore. This ice comes from the Tokachi River and flows to the Pacific Ocean. As the ice is battered by waves, the edges are removed and the ice becomes smooth, clear and crystal-like. The resulting product of this natural phenomenon is the beautiful jewelry ice. Jewelry ice, created by the severe cold of Tokachi and the Tokachi River, shines like a beautiful jewel in the sunlight. The jewelry ice changes its color beautifully from yellow, gold, orange, red, purple, and blue depending on the time of day, making it a popular destination for tourists and photographers alike. The best time to see the jewelry ice is usually from mid-January to late February on the sandy beach near the mouth of the Tokachi River in Otsu, Toyokoro. Photographing the Jewelry Ice at Sunset: Tips for Photographers Photo:Jewelry ice shining brightly at sunrise It's recommended that you take photos when the sun rises. By doing so, you can really capture the beauty of the natural phenomenon. Sunrise is from 6:40 - 7:00 a.m. in January and February. You should visit there around 30 to 60 minutes before the sunrise to take photos and prepare. Look for jewel-like clear ice or ice with mysterious holes created by nature, and take pictures by arranging the ice in a composition that takes into account the direction of the morning sunrise and the waves. It'll make for some amazing Instagram photos as well! Suffice it to say, you can easily take some amazing photos here. There's even a special page on Toyokoro's official website where information about the "jewelry ice" is updated daily. Be sure to check it out if you're visiting! Things to Be Careful of When Viewing the Jewelry Ice – Respect the Local Residents Please remember to be considerate of local residents around the area where jewelry ice can be seen, as there are residential areas in close proximity. If you're coming by car, please use the free parking lots, as cars are not allowed on the beach. Parking on the street is strictly prohibited, as it can inconvenience the local residents and obstruct access for emergency vehicles. Please remember to observe good manners, especially when visiting the site at night or early in the morning, particularly with regards to parking, noise, and disposing of trash. Summary of Jewelry Ice at Otsu Beach Photo:Jewelry ice and stars at Otsu Beach, Hokkaido Temperatures during this time of year, when thew jewelry ice can be seen, can drop below -20°C! The lowest temperatures are often recorded early in the morning, between 6:30 and 7:30 a.m., and taking into account windchill, etc., it can feel like it's -25°C to -30°C outside. Therefore, it's important to dress warm to protect yourself from the cold. Body temperature varies greatly depending on the strength of the wind and humidity, so please check the weather forecast and temperature in advance to be well prepared for your trip. It's also said that electronic devices (cell phones, cameras, etc.) should be kept warm with body warmers, as extremely low temperatures may temporarily cause batteries to drain faster. Be sure to fill a water bottle with a hot drink and drink it to stay warm while you admire the clear sparkling ice. If you end up visiting and taking some photos, we'd love to see them in our photo contests as well! [TripAdvisor] Otsu Beach -

Located deep in the mountains, approximately 10 minutes from the city center of Nagaokakyo in Kyoto via car, sits Yanagidani Kannon (Yokokuji Temple), a temple with a variety of interesting sights throughout the year. A temizuya or chozuya is a basin at a temple or shrine where water is available for washing and purifying the hands and mouth before visiting the temple or shrine. It is often located alongside the approach to the temple/shrine. Yokokuji Temple is said to be the birthplace of hanachozu (花手水), which are chozuya filled with flowers. During hydrangea week, the temple grounds are filled with colorful hydrangeas. The color of hydrangeas, a cool light blue, is said to refresh the body and mind and relieve stress. Enjoy the beautiful images of Yokokuji Temple to the sound of birds chirping, along with the flower pots, the hydrangeas blooming on the temple grounds, and the lush greenery of the garden. Introduction to Yokokuji Temple, Kyoto, One of the Most Famous Ancient Temples in Japan Photo:Yanagidani Kannon (Yokokuji Temple), Kyoto Located in Nagaokakyo, Kyoto, Yokokuji Temple is an ancient temple that was opened in the early Heian Period (794 - 1185 AD). The principal deity is the eleven-faced, thousand-armed, thousand-eyed Kannon (Goddess of Mercy), who is said to cure people of eye diseases. The temple is open to the public on the 17th of every month, so be sure to remember that if you're planning on stopping by for a visit. The temple is also home to a spring water called "Okouzui," which is believed to be a holy water for healing eye diseases, and attracts many visitors. The Seasonal Faces of the Flower Pots at Yokokuji Temple Photo:Hanachozu at Yanagidani Kannon (Yokokuji Temple), Kyoto Yokokuji Temple, rich in natural beauty, offers different views in each season. These include Hydrangea Week from early June to early July, when the hydrangeas are at their best, and Momiji Week from mid-November to mid-December, when the autumn leaves are at their best. Be sure to check out the official Instagram page for Yokokuji Temple (@yanagidanikannon) to see the seasonal flowers floating in the flower basins. In the summer of 2022, the temple grounds were also decorated with pinwheels and wind chimes. Hydrangea Week at Yokokuji Temple Photo:Hydrangeas at Yanagidani Kannon (Yokokuji Temple), Kyoto Hydrangea Week at Yokokuji Temple is usually held around early June to early July, the best time to view the hydrangeas. The official website confirms that the hydrangeas will be in full bloom on June 23 in 2023. Takao, a 599-meter-tall mountain in Hachioji, Tokyo, in Japan's Kanto region, is a national park that has received three stars in the Michelin Guide and is a tourist attraction where visitors can enjoy hiking. Mt. Fuji can be seen from the top of the mountain, and Takao Yakuoin Temple is crowded with many visitors. [Video] 1:55 - Takao Yakuoin Temple Be sure to check out the video to see the autumn leaves of Mt. Takao Hiking and Mountain Climbing – Recreational Activities on Mt. Takao Photo:Autumn leaves on Mt. Takao, Hachioji, Tokyo Mt. Takao, located in Hachioji, Tokyo, is 599 meters above sea level. As a relatively easy-to-climb low-lying mountain, it's gaining popularity as a mountain where hikers and climbers can enjoy casual hiking and mountain climbing. There are both full-scale mountain climbing courses and hiking courses that can be completed in casual clothing, making the mountain enjoyable for adults and children alike. From the observatory at the top of the mountain, visitors can view the symbol of Japan, Mt. Fuji. Mt. Takao is also home to legends of tengu, Japanese goblins, that have been passed down for generations. Takao Yakuoin Temple, a Shingon sect temple located halfway up Mt. Takao, is said to bring good luck and ward off evil spirits. The main deity, Izuna Daigongen, a deity worshipped by Japanese warlords during the Warring States Period, is said to be accompanied by a tengu, and you can see statues of tengu in many places on Mt. Takao. [Video] 2:00 - Takao Yakuoin Temple Mt. Takao is also famous for its autumn leaves, which attract many tourists in the fall. Even though the mountain is not very tall, the temperature is lower than that of the ground, so be sure to dress warm when visiting. When to View the Autumn Leaves on Mt. Takao Photo:The cable car on Mt. Takao, Hachioji, Tokyo Mt. Takao's annual autumn leaves are at their best from mid-November to early December. The best places to view the autumn leaves on Mt. Takao are around Takao-yamaguchi Station, in front of Kiyotaki Station on the cable car, and halfway up the mountain on the cable car. In addition, a festival to celebrate the autumn leaves is held every year from early November to coincide with the autumn foliage of Mt. Takao. On holidays, various events, such as demonstrations of Tokyo Kokeshi doll-making and masu-zake (sake served in small boxes) enliven the celebration of the autumn leaves. Be sure to check event schedules in advance, as they are subject to change. Advanced Hiking Courses and Crowding Information on Mt. Takao Photo:Autumn leaves on Mt. Takao, Hachioji, Tokyo As Mt. Takao can be climbed by cable car or lift to the midpoint of the mountain, it attracts many visitors. It's said to be the most visited mountain in the world, with 3 million climbers per year. During the high season, particularly during the fall when hikers can view the autumn leaves, it's not unusual for visitors to have to wait up to an hour for the cable car. If you're planning on climbing or hiking Mt. Takao, we recommend checking the latest information regarding crowding conditions on social networking sites before visiting the mountain. If you want to see the autumn leaves in a relaxed atmosphere, we recommend arriving at the mountain early in the morning. The cable cars start running at 8:00 a.m., and there are fewer people on the mountain first thing in the morning, making this the best time to arrive. If you're a beginner, Mt. Takao can be ascended in about an hour by cable car, but there is also a course that can be enjoyed by advanced climbers. However, there is also a trail that advanced climbers can enjoy. This is the advanced course located at the branch leading to the southern trails 2 and 6. Compared to the gently paved beginners' trails, this trail is not paved and climbs along a mountain path that's too slippery for ordinary sports shoes. Therefore, trekking shoes or other mountaineering shoes are required for this trail. It's the most mountain trail-like course on Mt. Takao. Mt. Takao is truly a mountain that can be enjoyed by both beginners and advanced climbers alike, so if you're a nature lover, or just looking to enjoy some wonderful scenery, consider going for a hike up the mountain while appreciating the autumn leaves. Summary of Autumn Leaves and Sightseeing on Mt. Takao We've introduced Mt. Takao during the fall foliage season, but you can also enjoy Mt. Takao lit up in the summer. At Takao Yakuoin Temple, the statues at Niomon gate and the bronze statues of tengu are lit up with green and red lights. The nighttime scenery is completely different from that of the daytime, and will have you feeling as though you're in a scene from some mythological story. Mt. Takao, a famous place for viewing the autumn leaves, can be reached in about an hour by train from Shinjuku Station in central Tokyo. There are parking lots in the area, but expect crowds during the fall when people come to view the autumn leaves. Be sure to check information in advance before visiting the mountain as well. Mt. Takao is a great spot for climbing and hiking to view the autumn foliage. It'd be a shame to miss such beautiful scenery! 【TripAdvisor】Mt.
