JR Shintoku Station is served by 22 limited express trains a day, making travel about two hours from Sapporo, about 1 hour 45 minutes from New Chitose Airport, about 30 minutes from Tomamu, about 30 minutes from Obihiro, and about 1 hour 50 minutes from Kushiro.

Shintoku Town is home to the popular Sahoro Resort Ski Area.
With 21 courses, the resort caters to beginners through advanced skiers and is very popular with international visitors.

Another year-round highlight is Karikachi Pass, which sits at 644 meters on the border between Ishikari and Tokachi.

To soothe your travel fatigue, Shintoku Town proudly serves soba made from locally produced buckwheat flour—soba that is said to be the best in Japan.
Each September, the Shintoku New Soba Festival draws up to 25,000 visitors seeking freshly made soba.
