Taga Taisha
604 Taga, Taga-cho, Inugami-gun, Shiga
It is the first large shrine in Shiga Prefecture that has been known as "Otaga-san" for a long time.
According to Japan's oldest book, the Kojiki, these two great gods first began the path of husband and wife in the age of the gods, giving birth to the land of Japan and eight million gods, including Amaterasu.
At dusk on August 3rd, the Sacred Fire Festival is held on Japanese cedar (the place where the God of worship descends), and the pure fire is cut out according to the ancient style. When it is transported to the head office via the Totonomiya Shrine at the foothills, more than 10,000 lanterns are lit.
Otaga's No. 1 Specialties are, of course, Itogiri mochi
