Sugao Magaibutsu
❚ Oita Bungoono Geopark
Sugao Magaibutsu stands in Mie Town, Bungoono City, Oita Prefecture.
Its full, gentle face and softly rounded shoulders show a beautifully three-dimensional carving.
Its craftsmanship is exquisitely detailed, comparable to wooden Buddhist statues in Kyoto and Nara.

It has been designated a National Important Cultural Property and a Historic Site.
