He was known by the childhood names Toraichi and Minamoto Ichiro, later adopting the name Rihei. He served the Kaga Maeda family, contributing to the development of the Kaga Goto school while also managing the engraving and financial affairs. Interestingly, he became the 9th generation head after the death of the 8th generation, Sokujo, when his son, the 10th generation, Renjo, was still a child, placing him in the same position as his father, Kenjo.
