Kintai Bridge is located in Iwakuni City, Yamaguchi Prefecture in the Chugoku region, and has been selected as one of the three famous bridges along with the "Japan Bridge" in Chuo-ku, Tokyo and the "Megane Bridge" in Nagasaki City, Nagasaki Prefecture Japan and is one of the rare "Japan Three Strange Bridges" (Kintai Bridge on the Iwakuni River in Yamaguchi Prefecture, Saru Bridge on the Katsura River in Yamanashi Prefecture, and Aihonbashi on the Kurobe River in Toyama Prefecture). It has a long history, and was built in 1673 (the first year of Enpo) by Hiroyoshi Yoshikawa, the lord of Iwakuni Domain.
The area around Kintaibashi Bridge is a famous place for cherry blossoms Japan which has been selected as one of the 100 best cherry blossom spots, and you can enjoy the autumn leaves. In summer, you can see the cormorants of Kintai Bridge on pleasure boats and houseboats, and it is popular as a summer tradition.
