Hakone Komagatake Ropeway Resumes Operation on Wednesday, September 20 A sky-high panorama linking the shores of Lake Ashi to Hakone’s highest observation deck The Hakone Komagatake Ropeway at Hakone-en pleasureland on the shores of Lake Ashi had been suspended from June 19 for annual inspections and repairs, but it resumed service on Wednesday, September 20. The Hakone Komagatake Ropeway connects Hakone-en on the shore of Lake Ashi with the summit of Mt. Komagatake, spanning a total distance of 1,783 meters and taking seven minutes one way. The summit features Hakone’s highest observation deck, offering a miniature-garden view of Hakone centered on Lake Ashi. To the northwest stands the majestic Mt. Fuji and the Northern Alps; you can also enjoy a sweeping panorama that reaches Suruga Bay and the Izu Peninsula, the Shonan coast, the Miura Peninsula, and the Boso Peninsula.
