Autumn Leaves on Mt. Takao: Video Introduction This video, titled "Autumn Leaves and Hiking on Mt. Takao|Travel|Sightseeing in Tokyo|Michelin Guide|Autumn Leaves in Japan|4K 2021" (4K 2021紅葉の秋の高尾山 TOKYO Autumn leaves of Mt. Takao 紅葉ハイキング 高尾山観光 旅行 Michelin Guides 東京観光 日本の紅葉 紅葉の名所), was uploaded by "Discover Nippon." Mt. Takao, a 599-meter-tall mountain in Hachioji, Tokyo, in Japan's Kanto region, is a national park that has received three stars in the Michelin Guide and is a tourist attraction where visitors can enjoy hiking. Mt. Fuji can be seen from the top of the mountain, and Takao Yakuoin Temple is crowded with many visitors. [Video] 1:55 - Takao Yakuoin Temple Be sure to check out the video to see the autumn leaves of Mt. Takao Hiking and Mountain Climbing – Recreational Activities on Mt. Takao Photo:Autumn leaves on Mt. Takao, Hachioji, Tokyo Mt. Takao, located in Hachioji, Tokyo, is 599 meters above sea level. As a relatively easy-to-climb low-lying mountain, it's gaining popularity as a mountain where hikers and climbers can enjoy casual hiking and mountain climbing. There are both full-scale mountain climbing courses and hiking courses that can be completed in casual clothing, making the mountain enjoyable for adults and children alike. From the observatory at the top of the mountain, visitors can view the symbol of Japan, Mt. Fuji. Mt. Takao is also home to legends of tengu, Japanese goblins, that have been passed down for generations. Takao Yakuoin Temple, a Shingon sect temple located halfway up Mt. Takao, is said to bring good luck and ward off evil spirits. The main deity, Izuna Daigongen, a deity worshipped by Japanese warlords during the Warring States Period, is said to be accompanied by a tengu, and you can see statues of tengu in many places on Mt. Takao. [Video] 2:00 - Takao Yakuoin Temple Mt. Takao is also famous for its autumn leaves, which attract many tourists in the fall. Even though the mountain is not very tall, the temperature is lower than that of the ground, so be sure to dress warm when visiting. When to View the Autumn Leaves on Mt. Takao Photo:The cable car on Mt. Takao, Hachioji, Tokyo Mt. Takao's annual autumn leaves are at their best from mid-November to early December. The best places to view the autumn leaves on Mt. Takao are around Takao-yamaguchi Station, in front of Kiyotaki Station on the cable car, and halfway up the mountain on the cable car. In addition, a festival to celebrate the autumn leaves is held every year from early November to coincide with the autumn foliage of Mt. Takao. On holidays, various events, such as demonstrations of Tokyo Kokeshi doll-making and masu-zake (sake served in small boxes) enliven the celebration of the autumn leaves. Be sure to check event schedules in advance, as they are subject to change. Advanced Hiking Courses and Crowding Information on Mt. Takao Photo:Autumn leaves on Mt. Takao, Hachioji, Tokyo As Mt. Takao can be climbed by cable car or lift to the midpoint of the mountain, it attracts many visitors. It's said to be the most visited mountain in the world, with 3 million climbers per year. During the high season, particularly during the fall when hikers can view the autumn leaves, it's not unusual for visitors to have to wait up to an hour for the cable car. If you're planning on climbing or hiking Mt. Takao, we recommend checking the latest information regarding crowding conditions on social networking sites before visiting the mountain. If you want to see the autumn leaves in a relaxed atmosphere, we recommend arriving at the mountain early in the morning. The cable cars start running at 8:00 a.m., and there are fewer people on the mountain first thing in the morning, making this the best time to arrive. If you're a beginner, Mt. Takao can be ascended in about an hour by cable car, but there is also a course that can be enjoyed by advanced climbers. However, there is also a trail that advanced climbers can enjoy. This is the advanced course located at the branch leading to the southern trails 2 and 6. Compared to the gently paved beginners' trails, this trail is not paved and climbs along a mountain path that's too slippery for ordinary sports shoes. Therefore, trekking shoes or other mountaineering shoes are required for this trail. It's the most mountain trail-like course on Mt. Takao. Mt. Takao is truly a mountain that can be enjoyed by both beginners and advanced climbers alike, so if you're a nature lover, or just looking to enjoy some wonderful scenery, consider going for a hike up the mountain while appreciating the autumn leaves. Summary of Autumn Leaves and Sightseeing on Mt. Takao We've introduced Mt. Takao during the fall foliage season, but you can also enjoy Mt. Takao lit up in the summer. At Takao Yakuoin Temple, the statues at Niomon gate and the bronze statues of tengu are lit up with green and red lights. The nighttime scenery is completely different from that of the daytime, and will have you feeling as though you're in a scene from some mythological story. Mt. Takao, a famous place for viewing the autumn leaves, can be reached in about an hour by train from Shinjuku Station in central Tokyo. There are parking lots in the area, but expect crowds during the fall when people come to view the autumn leaves. Be sure to check information in advance before visiting the mountain as well. Mt. Takao is a great spot for climbing and hiking to view the autumn foliage. It'd be a shame to miss such beautiful scenery! 【TripAdvisor】Mt. After reading this article, you'll be captivated by Ogimi Village and will want to experience what life is like in this village in Northern Okinawa! Ogimi Village – One of the Three Yanbaru Villages in Northern Okinawa Ogimi Village, located in the northern part of Okinawa's main island in Kunigami, consists of 17 villages with a total population of 3,034 and a total of 1,716 households (as of March 2023). The village is about 64 square kilometers (15,800 acres) in size. Ogimi is approximately 87 km (54 mi.) from Naha City and can be accessed in about 2 hours via National Route 58 or about 1 hour and 30 minutes via expressway. Ogimi Village and the neighboring villages of Kunigami and Higashi are called the three villages of Yanbaru (Yanbaru means "the forested northern area of Okinawa"), which was recognized as a World Natural Heritage site in 2021, and is home to many endemic species that can only be seen here, such as the Okinawa rail and Okinawa woodpecker. Photo:The Okinawa rail Ogimi Village is also called the "Village of Longevity," "Village of Bashofu," "Village of Shikuwasa," and "Village of Bunagaya." Ogimi Village, Known as the "Village of Longevity" Ogimi Village is known as the village with the highest longevity in Japan, with a very high percentage of the total population aged 65 years or older (32.5%) as well as people who are 90 years old or older (4.2%), according to the 2015 census. ※The percentage of people over 90 years old in Japan as a whole is 1.6%. Photo:An elderly man in Ogimi Village In 1987, the area was declared the "Village of Longevity" as the area with the highest percentage of elderly people in Japan, and in 1996, it was recognized as the "World's Longest Living Region" by the World Health Organization (WHO). The book "IKIGAI," published in Spain in 2016 and covering the secrets of longevity in Ogimi Village, became an international bestseller, selling more than 5 million copies. The text of the book introduces the ideal life as "the sight of a grandfather or grandmother living a vibrant and rewarding life in Ogimi Village." The book has led to an increase in the number of foreign tourists visiting Ogimi Village and in the number of foreigners who know about Ogimi Village even if they don't know much about Japan. Ogimi Village, the "Village of Bashofu" In Kijoka, an area in Ogimi Village, Kijoka Bashofu, a cloth woven from the fibers of the plantain plant, has long been popular as a fabric for kimono. It's considered a fantastic type of cloth because of how thin and light it is, almost like the wings of a dragonfly. In Okinawa, a place with high humidity, this breathable, light-as-air fabric has been very useful. It takes about three years to grow to a height taller than a person, and each stalk of plantain yields only about 20 grams of fiber, so 200 stalks are needed to weave one roll of Bashofu cloth. Photo:The plantain plant The history of Bashofu dates back to the 13th century, and during the Ryukyu Dynasty (approximately 450 years from the 1400s to the 1800s), there was a position called "Basho Toushoku" (芭蕉当職, lit. "Bashofu Manager") who managed a Basho garden exclusively for the nobility so that they could wear high-quality Bashofu. During the Meiji period (1868-1912), plain or striped Bashofu began to be decorated with kasuri patterns, and developed into a craft. Bashofu was designated an Intangible Cultural Property of the prefecture in 1972, the year Okinawa was returned to Japan, and two years later, in 1974, it was designated an Intangible Cultural Property by the Japanese government. Ogimi Village, the "Village of Shikuwasa" Most of the shikuwasa (flat lemons) distributed in Japan are produced in Okinawa, with Ogimi Village accounting for approximately 60% of the total. Photo:Shikuwasa Shikuwasa is a food rich in nutrients and is considered one of the foods for health and longevity in Okinawa. The nobiletin contained in shikuwasa is said to have the following effects: ・Helps prevent rheumatism, osteoporosis, and cancer ・Lowers blood sugar and blood pressure ・Burns fat, strengthens liver function, improves urination, and improves cognitive function ・Helps relieve complications from urinary disorders, such as frequent urination and enuresis. ・Helps prevent diabetes The secret to Ogimi Village's longevity may be its shikuwasa. Shikuwasa is one of the most popular Furusato Nozei tax return gifts as well. If you're a resident of Japan, be sure to visit the Ogimi Village Furusato Nozei website (※Japanese). Ogimi Village, the "Village of Bunagaya" It's said that Bunagaya, spirits of the forest, live in Yanbaru, a rich natural environment that has been registered as a World Natural Heritage site. Photo:A Bunagaya forest spirit These mysterious bunagaya are said to love peace and nature, and use nature's bounty to show us what they look like. Since World War II, due to the modernization of postwar reconstruction, it's said that they can only be seen in Ogimi Village. Bunagaya live amongst banyan trees and are said to have red hair and are covered with grass and trees. In 1998, Ogimi Village was declared the "Village of Bunagaya" to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Ogimi Village's establishment. Life in Ogimi Village is full of charms, from its longevity, traditional culture, and unique food, to its ancient legends. Toyokawa Inari Yolmowde" Toyokawa City, Aichi Prefecture, Japan Video Introduction This video, titled "A Temple Visit at Night With a Fantastical Atmosphere|Using Technology to Prevent Infection|Toyokawa Inari, Aichi (2022/7/25)" (幻想的な雰囲気の中で「夜の参拝」を 感染対策には驚きの演出も 愛知・豊川稲荷(2022/7/25)), was uploaded by "CBC News [CBC TV Official]" (CBCニュース【CBCテレビ公式】). Toyokawa Inari x NAKED YORU MO-DE, which began last July, is a safe and secure, new-style nighttime worship event that focuses on preventing infection. Be sure to check out the video as it shows Toyokawa Inari and the photogenic light art, illuminated approach, and many other attractions that can be seen at YORU MO-DE. Toyokawa Inari - Is It a Temple or Shrine? Photo:Reiko-Zuka, the Hill of Foxes at Toyokawa Inari, Aichi Prefecture Toyokawa Inari, located in Toyokawa, Aichi, in Japan's Tokai region, is a temple officially called Enpukuzan Myogonji Temple and is one of the three major Inari shrines in Japan. The reason it is called Toyokawa Inari is that it enshrines a deity called "Toyokawa Dakini Shinten," a god astride a white fox (Inari shrines are dedicated to foxes), who is believed to bring prosperity to business and safety to one's family. It is said that this may be due to the fact that the shrine is also associated with the Inari faith. Toyokawa Inari is famous for offering four types of shuin stamps. The summer-only shuin stamps with cool designs are quite popular. In addition, a variety of good luck charms are available, including some with cute foxes on them. Toyokawa Inari has branch temples throughout Japan. Toyokawa Kaku Myogonji Temple in Akasaka, Tokyo, also known as Toyokawa Inari Betsuin, is a popular urban power spot. The fortune-telling service at Toyokawa Inari Betsuin is particularly popular due to its accuracy, causing there to often be a queue of people waiting to receive their fortunes. Ticket and Event Information for Toyokawa Inari YORU MO-DE 2022 Source :YouTube screenshot Toyokawa Inari YORU MO-DE 2022 is from July 22 to August 6. This is a limited-time event to enjoy a nighttime temple visit, and tickets must be purchased in order to participate. Tickets can be purchased at the on-site reception during the event period, or in advance on ticket websites. Admission is 1,500 yen for adults. Elementary school students and younger can enter free of charge. During YORU MO-DE, visitors can enjoy a variety of illuminated artworks in the precincts of Toyokawa Inari, which attract a lot of attention due to how photogenic they are. In addition to the approach to the temple being lit up, this year the light-up area has been expanded even further! Reiko-Zuka, the Hill of Foxes, where approximately 1,000 fox statues are enshrined, will be illuminated with light and sound effects, creating an even more beautiful and mysterious atmosphere. In addition, the colorful flower-shaped mikuji that have become popular on Japanese social media will add color and delight visitors. Summer is also the best time for yukata! The FOX MASK, available in limited quantities, goes perfectly with yukata, and allows visitors to take memorable photos! Also, the "Tsukubai," a stone wash basin used to purify oneself, emits disinfectant when hands are held near it and projects motifs of goldfish and fireworks. In addition, the light patterns on the lanterns allow visitors to maintain safe social distancing while enjoying the attractions. How Crowded is Toyokawa Inari YORU-MODE 2022? Source :YouTube screenshot With the number of people infected with the new coronavirus on the rise, one concern people have inevitably expressed is how crowded the event will be. At this year's YORU MO-DE, in addition to infection prevention measures, such as alcohol disinfection and lanterns that allow people to naturally maintain distance from other visitors, as mentioned above, a new system has also been introduced. On the day of the event, visitors will obtain a digital numbered ticket by scanning a QR code before entering, and will receive a message on via LINE when it's time to enter. Through this system, the number of visitors allowed into the temple grounds per hour is limited to 1,500 to prevent crowding and to prevent the spread of the virus. Until you can enter with a digital numbered ticket, you can fill your stomach at the food stalls and stores in the shopping area. This system allows visitors to make good use of their time while waiting instead of just standing in line until they can enter. Delicious Food to Try at Toyokawa Inari! When you visit Toyokawa Inari, be it for sightseeing or to pray, there's one food that you've got to try. That is, Toyokawa Inari Sushi! Named after Inari Okami's favorite abura-age, this sushi is a must-try. We recommend Okitsune Honpo (おきつね本舗) if you want to try it! They also offer take-out, so it is perfect for eating while you walk around. The "Okitsune Burger," which uses fried tofu instead of buns, is also popular according to reviews. Consider giving it a try! Summary of YORU MO-DE at Toyokawa Inari If you haven't already seen the video introducing the precincts of the temple and other areas decorated with light effects, be sure to check it out. When visiting the event, although a large parking lot is available, we recommend using public transportation instead of a car, as parking is expected to be crowded during the event. Toyokawa Inari YORU MO-DE is a festival where visitors can enjoy beautiful art with the aim of revitalizing the local community. There are many hotels and other lodging facilities in the area. If you're visiting Aichi for sightseeing, definitely give YORU MO-DE a thought, it's a fantastic summer-only event!
