Notice of Oyama Afuri Shrine Autumn Grand Festival
The Oyama Afuri Shrine Autumn Grand Festival, a tradition dating back to the Edo period, will once again take place across the entire Oyama area for three days from Wednesday, August 27 this year.
This grand festival, held by all six districts of Oyama, presents powerful rituals and traditional dances from the first day’s “O-sagari” (descent) through the final day’s “O-nobori” (ascent).

Wednesday, August 27 — O-sagari
08:00 Departure from the lower shrine
12:30 Arrival at the Shrine Office
14:00 Taigu Festival (Shrine Office)

Thursday, August 28 — Grand Festival
10:30 Dedication of Wagaku dance and miko (shrine maiden) dances

Friday, August 29 — O-nobori
12:30 Departure from the Shrine Office
15:00 Arrival at the lower shrine
