■ What the phantom roadway is
This road is an extremely limited route that is usually passable for only about one month, from mid-September to mid-October.
It is called the “phantom roadway” because it can be used only when the water level falls to its lowest.
Early October in particular coincides with peak autumn foliage, drawing many visitors from both inside and outside the route.
