“Takenoko Village,” nestled in the center of Minami-Izu Town in the national park, is overflowing with seasonal flavors. Let your children experience the nostalgic tastes of the past—this will surely become a memorable day. Experience bamboo shoot picking across an expansive 490,000-square-meter bamboo grove. Enjoy local specialties sold on site and meals centered on bamboo shoots. The mountains offer seasonal tastes throughout the year: bamboo shoots, shiitake mushrooms, wild mountain vegetables, amanatsu citrus, chestnuts, and shihotake (square bamboo). Take home memories of bamboo craftwork, too—every activity promises fun and a peaceful break from the city bustle. October 10–October 31 Shihotake Picking It’s shihotake season—pick the shoots of this square-shaped bamboo. Although this rare species originates from China, it tastes excellent. Depending on the weather, the season can extend into early November. May Amanatsu Citrus Picking Fully ripened and naturally grown, these fruits offer a perfect balance of tartness and sweetness that fills your mouth with delightful flavor. September Chestnut Gathering The season is planned from early September to early October (subject to change depending on summer weather). For details, please call us. November, December, and March Shiitake Picking Yields depend on rainfall, but you can enjoy the thick, natural shiitake flavor that defines true shiitake mushrooms.”

[Speaking of Koshu, it's Inden, right ❗️] Hello, this is 💁 ♀️ the Otsuki Station Tourist Information Center Inden is perfect for Yamanashi souvenirs. Since it was also used as a decoration for the armor of warlords, Classic patterns can also 🔍 have wishes For example, dragonflies only move forward and look back, so the meaning of victory is 👀 There is also a legend that the pattern that combines small cherry blossoms and irises is used to ward off evil spirits and eliminate evil diseases. It may be 😁 fun to choose a pattern while thinking about the meaning. Otsuki Station is sunny ☀️ Spring is approaching, and the number of vegetables arriving is increasing ✨✨ It's getting warmer and climbing season is just around the corner ⛰ Please come to 😁 Otsuki, which is rich in nature

Atami Station Front Shopping Streets (Nakamise and Heiwa-dori) In front of Atami Station are two shopping streets, Heiwa-dori and Nakamise, where long-established shops with 60- and 70-year histories still operate. Unlike shopping malls, these streets gather small, quirky shops where you can experience a uniquely Japanese style of shopping. You will find restaurants, cafes, sushi bars, and dried-fish shops, along with souvenir stores stocked with specialties from the Izu Peninsula. Official goods featuring Atsuo, the mascot of the Atami Onsen Hotels and Ryokan Cooperative, are also available in various shops. Strolling while nibbling on a hot-spring manju bun is recommended. Enjoy shopping here at the start of your trip or on your way home. Address / 〒413-0011 Tawarahoncho, Atami City, Shizuoka Prefecture (in front of JR Atami Station)

[About Atami City, Shizuoka Prefecture] Atami City lies in the eastern part of Shizuoka Prefecture and is a charming town of about 34,000 residents. It is famous as a hot spring resort with a history spanning more than 1,500 years, and it was beloved by historic figures including Tokugawa Ieyasu. Atami is about a 90-minute drive from Tokyo and a 45-minute ride by Shinkansen. With abundant nature, beautiful scenery, and a mild climate, it attracts many visitors year-round. [Introduction to Atami’s tourist spots] ・Atami Ekimae Shopping Street Located in front of Atami Station, the Heiwa Dori and Nakamise shopping streets host shops selling fresh local seafood, traditional crafts, and souvenirs you can only find here. In front of Atami Station, you can enjoy a free footbath using a naturally flowing hot spring called Ieyasu no Yu. ・Pine tree of Omiya and the Kanichi and Omiya statue Since around the Meiji era, many literary masters lived in Atami and wrote notable works. The statue of Kanichi and Omiya, modeled on characters from one of those novels, and the pine tree of Omiya stand along the coast about a 15-minute walk from Atami Station and are signature sightseeing spots. ・Atami Sun Beach This beach of white sand and blue sea is ideal for summer leisure and popular with families and couples. You can enjoy swimming, sunbathing, and beach sports among other activities. Continuing from Sun Beach, the waterfront park and Moon Terrace offer an exotic streetscape inspired by towns of northern the Mediterranean. ・Atami Plum Garden You can see some of Japan’s earliest-blooming plum trees here. Among the 469 trees across 60 varieties are ancient trees over 100 years old. ・Atami Castle From the main keep observation deck of Atami Castle, located atop Nishiki Cape, you can enjoy a full 360-degree panorama of Atami’s townscape. The castle’s annex houses the Atami Trick Art Maze Museum, and nearby attractions include the AtamiRopeway and the Atami Hihokan (Secret Museum). ・Hatsushima Hatsushima is the closest island to Tokyo, reachable by high-speed boat from Atami Port in about 30 minutes. This small island with a 4-kilometer shoreline offers year-round diving and a subtropical atmosphere. [Atami’s specialties, souvenirs, and local cuisine] One of Atami’s popular specialties is its fresh seafood. In particular, the seafood landed at Atami Port receives high praise for its freshness and flavor. Local souvenirs such as traditional wagashi and dried fish are popular and are also favored choices for furusato tax return gifts. [Events and festivals] Atami hosts various events and festivals throughout the year. At the Ajiro Onsen area in the Minami-Atami district, the Ajiro Onsen Hinomono Festival is held every autumn and winter, where you can enjoy richly flavored fresh dried fish and other local specialties. The Atami Marine Fireworks Festival is a historic fireworks event that began in 1952 and is held more than ten times a year, not only in summer. [Atami’s hot springs and accommodations] One of Atami’s greatest charms is its abundance of hot springs. Many ryokan, hotels, and guesthouses allow visitors to fully enjoy the blessings of these hot springs. There are also facilities offering day-use hot springs, so why not soothe your travel fatigue there? In this way, Atami City offers many popular tourist spots and is a very attractive destination. We hope that it will be an opportunity for many tourists to visit Noboribetsu City. First of all, we will introduce the popular sightseeing spots in Noboribetsu City. "Noboribetsu Bear Park" is one of the largest bear farms in Japan, and about 70 Ezo brown bears live there. In the park, you can observe the bears spending their time up close and enjoy feeding them. Next up is "Noboribetsu Jigokudani". This is the remains of a crater with a diameter of about 450 meters formed by the eruptive activity of Mt. Hiyori. It is a spot where you can feel the mystery of the earth, and while walking along the promenade, you can enjoy the powerful scenery of Jigokudani and the moment when hot springs gush out. Noboribetsu Marine Park Nix, a popular tourist spot introduced at the end of this article, is an aquarium with the theme of "Nordic romance and marine fantasy" where you can interact with marine life such as sea lions, penguins, and dolphins. The dolphin show and sea lion show held regularly are popular events that can be enjoyed by children and adults alike. There is also a penguin walk and an experience where you can interact with dolphins. There are still many popular sightseeing spots in Noboribetsu City, so I will introduce them in a future post.
