Meeting the "Flower That Brings Happiness," Kirengeshoma — Summer Hikes up Mt. Kurodake Around Obon, the elusive Kirengeshoma begins to bloom quietly in the mountains 🌼 Listed as Vulnerable (Category II) on the Ministry of the Environment’s Red List and thrust into the spotlight by an NHK morning drama, this flower is said in local lore to bring happiness to those who see it. Kirengeshoma once grew in large colonies around Morotsuka Village and Mt. Kurodake, but its numbers have drastically declined due to deer browsing. Now, it survives only in limited areas where local residents continue conservation efforts. Mt. Kurodake is designated an Important Habitat by Miyazaki Prefecture, and besides Kirengeshoma it shelters many rare Kyushu mountain plants and wildlife, making it a precious natural treasure. On this hiking tour, local guides will accompany you, pointing out rare plants and offering nature interpretation so you can fully savor the rich forest. 🟡 Tour Overview: Mt. Kurodake Hike 📅 Date and Time: Saturday and Sunday, August 23–24, 9:00 AM–4:00 PM 📍 Meeting Point: Obarai Community Center (escort from Shiitake no Yakata 21 available) 🎒 Eligibility: Ages 3 and up (minimum 4 participants to run / maximum 10) 💰 Fee: Adults ¥5,000 / Children ¥4,000 (lunch and guide fee included) 📝 Registration Deadline: Saturday, August 16 Hike Difficulty: ★★☆☆☆ (suitable for beginners to intermediate hikers) 🌱 Please wear comfortable clothing and hiking boots or non-slip athletic shoes. 🌸Spring Mountain School — Now Accepting Participants🌸 ~A casual hands-on experience in traditional pan-fried tea picking and hand-rolling🍵~ On Saturday, May 10th, we will hold a hands-on tour to make traditional pan-fried tea by hand-picking and hand-rolling the pan-fried tea that has long been handed down in Morotsuka Village. This rare tea, accounting for only about 0.02% of Japan’s production, invites you to try making it by hand-picking and hand-rolling in an atmospheric traditional house. 《Pan-Fried Tea Experience in Morotsuka Village, Miyazaki Prefecture》 ◎ How to make handmade pan-fried tea🍵 1. Tea picking Pick one bud and two leaves. Start at the tip of the new shoot and pick the second or third leaf from the top. 2. Initial pan-frying Heat the pan, add the fresh leaves, and stir-fry while mixing to prevent burning. Heat the pan until you hear a popping sound the moment the fresh leaves hit it. 3. Hand-rolling Spread the leaves on a mat to cool, then press down with your body weight and roll vigorously. If clumps form, break them apart (untangling the balls). 4. Drying and final frying With the heated pan, rub the tea leaves against the bottom of the pan with your hands while frying. As the moisture gradually evaporates and the leaves begin to dry, stop rubbing and dry the leaves while stirring them by hand so they do not burn. Why not take this chance to experience making pan-fried tea, something you rarely get to taste? We look forward to your participation 🤗 *For applications and more details, please check Morotsuka Navi.*

Introducing a One-Day Experience Tour 😄 ~A Tour Around Tokachi, the Dairy Kingdom~ A 1-DAY tour to learn about the lives of people who work with cows in Shintoku and Shimizu towns Shintoku and Shimizu, located in the northwest of Tokachi, are largely mountainous areas bordered on the west by the Hidaka Range and on the north by the Daisetsu mountain system. With little flat land, dairy farming thrives here more than crop cultivation. Kitahiro Farm is one of the large farms in Shintoku often called a mega-farm. It raises about 900 cows and works daily to ensure people can reliably enjoy safe, secure milk. In the afternoon we move to Shimizu town to visit Miyaji Farm. There, cows graze naturally around the clock and are fed only pasture, as the farm pursues dairy farming that minimizes the burden on the animals and on nature. Through farm work experiences, cheese making, and a stroll through the grasslands, you can feel the diversity of dairy farming in Tokachi. Please take this chance to encounter the lives of people living alongside other creatures. Tour Schedule 10:00 Gather at Kitahiro Farm 10:05 Kitahiro Farm tour and cheese-making experience Try making mozzarella cheese using fresh milk. 11:30 Kitahiro Farm cheese tasting and pizza lunch With the cooperation of a pizza shop in Shimizu town, you will also try making pizza using the mozzarella cheese you made and a chewy dough made from Hokkaido wheat and natural yeast. 13:00 Depart Kitahiro Farm (travel by private car) 13:45 Kyodo Gakusha Shintoku Farm workshop tour and shopping At Kyodo Gakusha, discover the secrets behind delicious cheese. (Tasting available) 14:45 Depart Kyodo Gakusha Shintoku Farm (travel by private car) 15:30 Miyaji Farm pasture walk and grass-fed milk tasting See cows raised entirely on pasture and fed only grass as you stroll through the grazing land. 🌳2025 Yamagakko Registration Open🌳 “Yamagakko” means pretending to go to school while spending the day playing in the mountains. Not so long ago, when children walked an hour or two to school, their love of play remained unchanged. They walked to school through mountains and along rivers, places that were their everyday playgrounds full of wonder. They would lose track of time chasing birds 🕊️ or discovering tasty greens 🌱. At times like that, back at school “Aitsu wa dongyashita tsuna?” “Yama gakkō shocchaga” (I wonder why that kid isn’t here) (Maybe they’re out playing in the mountains) were the sort of conversations you’d hear. These are the joyful memories many people once shared.✨ The ecotour “Let’s Do Yamagakko in Morotsuka!” takes its cue from those mountain school days and offers a chance to encounter the rich, untouched nature 🍃 and the everyday lives of the people who live there. Would you like to set off on a Morotsuka-only journey that lets you fully experience the forest life honored as a Globally Important Agricultural Heritage? The long week of the new school year is coming to an end. Here's a little reflection of March. [Implementation of study tour by junior high and high school students @ Tomi City] 3/23 Sat - 26 Tue As part of the Ueda-Tomi Study Tour, members of the Social Action Team of the Volunteer Department of International Secondary School attached to Tokyo Gakugei University visited Tomi City! While continuing the relationship with Ueda, this time the field was expanded to Tomi, and 14 junior high and high school students experienced Tomi for the first time Tomi was on the 1st day of 3/25. We actually visit the area, interacted with local people, and worked on a study tour to think about local issues together from the perspective of junior high and high school students. Tomi's theme is "How can people gather in Tomi?" It's huge! Because this was my first time in Tomi, I dared to ask them to grasp the charm of Tomi from multiple perspectives without being bound by the perspective of tourism. [Local people who cooperated this time] ⚪︎Cave Hatano Hatano-san ⚪︎SASAKI FARM 佐々木さん ⚪︎ Kodama Family Residence & Cafe Nei Kodama's family ⚪︎Unno Yado Kamishuya Asakawa-san * SASAKI FARM was specially accepted for training. Please note that it is not a tourist ranch. The junior high and high school students fell in love with the land of Tomi itself, and while touching the enthusiasm of Adults who took on the challenge of realizing their commitments and desires, they enthusiastically asked specific and Unfolding questions. Although it was only one day, I was very impressed by the way they tried to get to know Tomi deeply. At the end, the "charm of Tomi" that everyone felt at the Unno Yado Fureai Center was output in a short time. From the moment you unfold the imitation paper, the pen moves all at once! Impression by the enthusiasm of the junior high and high school students. I'm looking forward to the reports that will be compiled in the future. Tomi, like Ueda, I can't help but think that we can build a Gari with continuity. Tokyo Gakugei University International Secondary School Volunteer Department See you all in Tomi/ ・ ・ [Thanks] Thank you again to everyone in the community who cooperated with us! Nishiokoppe, Hokkaido
Oct. 24, 2023
VOICE Comes to Nishiokoppe! About a month ago I found myself listening to “24-Hour Myth” and waiting eagerly for the live show. When the concert finally began, even songs I heard for the first time drew me in with the guitar tones and soaring vocals. Nearly two hours flew by in an instant! Partway through, during a song that imagined the feelings of salted salmon roe, the audience joined in at a certain part, and the whole venue felt united. By the final act, the applause and cheers never stopped… The excitement was palpable. It was their first Nishiokoppe live in five years. I’m already looking forward to the day the two of them return!!

Sanadazaemon Sayukimura, who persevered in righteousness in the world of the warring states and crossed paths with Tokugawa Ieyasu, was killed in the Osaka summer camp. However, he was handed down as the number one soldier of Hihon, and the border from Tennoji to Osaka Castle was Sanada Yukimura's Bushido Favorite quote, "Forget your indebtedness, devour your self-interest, can you call me a person?" I came around in red armor to feel it.
