【Manhozan Kiichiji Temple】
This temple was opened in the 3rd year of Zheng'an (1301) by Ichizan Ichining, a high priest of the Yuan country (China) in the Rinzai sect of the Kenchoji sect, and was originally called Guiichian, but later changed to Guiichiji.
The Main Hall was rebuilt in the 5th year of Honghua (1848), and the ridge beams were designed by Hanbei Ishida, who was said to be a master palace carpenter and temple carpenter. Thereare in the temple treasure is a self-portrait of Ichizan Kunishi, a self-written silk one, and two volumes of words. The elegant Garden behind the Main Hall is splendid and is one of Izu's Representative Famous Gardens. It is also the second shrine of the 33 Kannon Sacred Sites of Izu Yokodo and the 80th shrine of the 88 sacred sites of Izu.
