The new soba season has begun. Since mid-August, two types of banners have been raised beside the soba fields along National Route 38 to promote the Shin-toku New Soba Festival by the PR campaigns “Soba Road” and “Soba Town Shintoku.” Until the Shin-toku New Soba Festival, the 1.3 km stretch with soba fields buzzes with activity. 🚩 The 2025 harvest of new soba is already being carefully gathered by producers. You can taste the new soba at the Shin-toku New Soba Festival, and local soba restaurants in town will also be serving new soba at this time. If you can’t make it to the festival, want to go early, or find the festival portions aren’t quite enough— please come to Shintoku and visit the soba restaurants. 💁‍♀️ The Shin-toku New Soba Festival takes place on Sunday, September 28, 2025, from 10:00 to 14:00. We warmly look forward to your visit. 💁‍♀️ #Hokkaido #Tokachi #Shintoku #Shintoku Soba #new soba #new soba festival #Soba Road #Welcome to Shintoku #Welcome home to Shintoku #Shintoku Town Tourism Association #Shintoku Station #Tokutoku Station-front Complex Facility #tuktuk #tokutoku #hokkaido #hokkaidotrip #hokkaidotourism #tourism #tokachi #shintoku #welcomeshintoku #discovershintoku

Minamifurano, Shintoku, Shikaoi A joint pamphlet made by three neighboring towns📕 In the heart of Hokkaido, this pamphlet introduces delicious cuisine crafted from fine trees, pure water, and good snow, along with a variety of nature-based activities. Beyond packing the charms of the three towns along National Routes 38 and 274 into one booklet, each town is color-coded for easy viewing, and you can catch detailed information by scanning the QR codes on the pages. The colors for the three towns are… Minamifurano Town — "Lavender swaying on Lake Kanayama🪻" Shintoku Town — "The deep, shining blue of Lake Sahoro🫐" Shikaoi Town — "The clear aquamarine of Lake Shikaribetsu💚" Overall, the pamphlet uses gentle colors and a matte, classy paper texture that reflects careful design. Despite the move toward digital, this is a deliberately analog paper pamphlet, and we hope you will pick it up and leaf through it. (Personally, I’d like you to pay attention to the sound of the pages turning💡) It seems rare for neighboring towns to produce a joint pamphlet like this. So when you visit roadside stations or tourism association counters, please pick one up, look it over, and feel the pages! We look forward to seeing you💁‍♀️ #Hokkaido #Shintoku Town #Minamifurano Town #Shikaoi Town #shintoku #nanpu #shikaoi #Shintoku Tourism Association #Minamifurano Town Development and Tourism Association #Shikaoi Town Tourism Association #Joint project of three towns #pamphlet #hokkaido #hokkaidotrip #hokkaidotourism #tourism #shintoku #minamihurano #shikaoi #welcomeshintoku #discovershintoku

Climbing hydrangeas in bloom at Karikachi Kogen Park From mid-June to early July, an estimated several hundred climbing hydrangea plants wind around the larch plantation trees in Karikachi Kogen Park, creating a beautiful sight. The cream-colored flowers, about 5 mm in size, bloom in clusters, making the larch trees look as if they are wearing dresses. The usual peak season is early to mid-July, but the warm temperatures likely caused them to bloom all at once this year. Bicycle rentals are available at the Shintoku Town Tourism Association counter on the 2nd floor of the Shintoku Station Community Center "Tokutoku." The ride from "Tokutoku" to Karikachi Kogen Park is about 10 km (approx. 40 minutes). From SL Square, take the Poppo Road — it's a steady uphill all the way to Karikachi Kogen Park, but on the return you'll enjoy a fast downhill ride with the wind at your back 🚲 For those who are reasonably fit and want to enjoy active, slightly adventurous sightseeing, please use our rental bikes. We have: 4 mountain bikes 4 city bikes Same-day reservations are welcome! 'Chinese Eatery Miura Shoten' Last week they announced that their signature soy sauce ramen🍜 had been renewed, so I went to try it right away! At Miura Shoten you can customize your ramen. This time I customized it as follows… ① Noodle firmness—firm ② Green onions—extra ③ Back fat—normal ④ Special ichimi chili—normal And I ordered a large serving It looked jet black. A pitch-black soy sauce ramen🍜 The owner told me they blend in tamari soy sauce✨ First, the soup. Contrary to its appearance, it had a deep richness and the soy sauce flavor filled my mouth. Next, the straight medium-thick noodles clung to the soup, and I couldn’t stop eating them. The extra green onions cut through the rich mouthfeel with their aroma rising through the nose and the soup, leaving a refreshing finish. With plenty of vegetables and the satisfying weight of the medium-thick noodles, it was very delicious🍜 A new specialty of Shintoku Town! Pitch-black in appearance, richly flavored in the old style Pitch-black soy sauce ramen 'Shintoku Black' Please give it a try🍜 #Hokkaido #Hokkaido gourmet #Hokkaido sightseeing #Hokkaido is huge #Hokkai-do #Tokachi #Tokachi #Tokachi sightseeing #Tokachi gourmet #Shintoku Town #Shintoku #ramen #jet black #Shintoku Black #hokkaido #hokkaido_lovers #hokkaido_love #ilovehokkaido #hokkaidotrip #hokkaidolikers #hokkaidolove #hokkaidosgram #hokkaidofood #hokkaidotravel #tokachi #shintoku

The 2025 season Shintoku Shrine Hill "Night Cherry Blossom Light-Up" has been confirmed. Period: April 25 (Fri) to May 11 (Sun) About 2,300 Ezo-yamazakura cherry trees on Shintoku Shrine Hill will be illuminated, from the area around the shrine office up along the stairs to the precincts and nearby grounds. Shintoku Shrine Hill is one of Hokkaido’s leading cherry blossom spots. @shintokujinja When in full bloom, the view is truly spectacular! We can’t wait for the warm spring weather and the buds to sprout. *The event period may shift slightly earlier or later depending on the timing of the cherry blossoms’ opening and falling.* Please check @welcome_shintoku on social media before you visit. The illumination uses LED floodlights to minimize stress on the flowers and to be environmentally conscious. Runners tackled three courses that use the former Karikachi Line railway bed to run through nature. Participants numbered 143, coming not only from Hokkaido but also from as far away as Tokyo, Nagoya, and Fukuoka. We did a test setup of “Hammocks Among the Birch Trees,” planned for this summer. Despite struggling with more sagging than expected, we finally created a soothing time. We joined the townwide ‘National Route 38 Environmental Beautification Activity’ organized and carried out by local residents, and planted seedlings of 6,000 red salvias and dusty miller along 43 blocks of Route 38 in Shintoku, where the sky was still cloudy after the rain. This road is known as the Hokkaido Garden Path and is used by visitors traveling between Obihiro and Furano or Asahikawa. We hope it will offer a warm welcome to drivers on summer sightseeing trips and lift their spirits.

Yesterday, on Sunday, I started from Karikachi Pass and hiked up to Sahoro-dake. Along the way I passed the summit of Sakurayama and reached the Sahoro-dake summit in about two and a half hours. Blessed with fine weather, I enjoyed views of the Tokachi Plain below and, in the distance, Mt. Tomuraushi—one of the Daisetsuzan range—and the Hidaka Mountains, which are scheduled to be designated a national park in July. On the trail I also delighted in the white flowers of Chishima-zakura beginning to show as they turn into leaf cherry, savoring all the unique pleasures of mountain hiking. #Hokkaido #Tokachi #Shintoku #Shintoku Tourism Association #Karikachi Pass #Sahoro-dake #Sakurayama #Tokachi Plain #Daisetsuzan range #Mt. Advance Notice: Climbing Hydrangeas Blooming It’s still a bit early, but from mid-June to early July hundreds of estimated climbing hydrangea plants that twine around the larch growth forest in Karikachi Kogen Park will begin to bloom. Their cream-colored, 5 mm flowers form clusters that make the larch trees look as if they are wearing dresses. This year has been warmer than usual, so blooming may occur earlier; we will announce it once the flowers open. The usual peak viewing season is from early to mid-July.
