Located in the western part of Yamanashi, the city sits embraced by the majestic Southern Alps. In 2003, six towns and villages—Hatta Village, Shiranecho, Ashiyasu Village, Wakakusa-cho, Kushigata Town, and Kosei Town—merged to form Minami-Alps City. FUJI, IN A COOL JAPAN VIDEO! □■□ What is Otsuki City, Yamanashi Prefecture? □■□ Otsuki City, Yamanashi Prefecture is a city with a population of about 21,000 located in the eastern part of Yamanashi Prefecture, and is surrounded by Mt. Fuji and the Tanzawa Mountains. Access from central Tokyo is about 1 hour by limited express on the JR Chuo Line, and less than 2 hours by Conventional train. By car, it takes about 60 minutes from Shinjuku to Otsuki Interchange on the Chuo Expressway. Also, it takes about 40 minutes from Otsuki Station to Mt. Iwadono】 It is a mountain with an altitude of 634 meters that can be visited in about 20 minutes on foot from Otsuki Station.
