📍 Hakone Owakudani Owakudani is located in the Hakone area of Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park. Owakudani was formed by an Eruption about 3,000 years ago. It is one of the few spots in Japan where you can feel the earth alive up close with the smell of sulfur and the smoke that rises. On this day, there were a few clouds, but since the Elevation of Owakudani is high, I was able to see Mt. Mount Fuji and Lake Ashi very beautifully without obstruction. Equipment: Nikon D850 Editing software: Adobe Lightroom

Yumoto Fujiya Hotel "Post-Bath Relaxation Lounge" opens on Saturday, April 27, 2024! This space is available as a rest area for day-trip bathers and as a lounge for overnight guests. Fujiya Hotel Co., Ltd., part of the Kokusai Kogyo Group, has opened a post-bath relaxation lounge at Yumoto Fujiya Hotel for use after bathing and during stays, starting Saturday, April 27, 2024. A former Japanese-style banquet hall located just before the main building’s hot spring area Soun was renovated to create a new lounge for day-trip guests to rest and meet, as well as for staying guests to relax after bathing. On entering the lounge, large windows face the 187-square-meter open space, letting you rest while feeling Hakone’s natural surroundings. To enhance relaxation, we carefully selected the lighting and chairs and installed a wireless dimming system that automatically changes color tones by time of day, matching the daily cycle of natural light so the interior always feels naturally comfortable. The lounge features a variety of seating options, including tatami benches and reclining chairs with ottomans. Paid massage chairs accept cashless payment by smartphone. Additionally, we provide free hot tea and chilled water servers and paid vending machines for drinks and ice cream. Enjoy a post-bath moment in the new lounge while soaking in the pleasant afterglow of Hakone-Yumoto Onsen. Post-Bath Relaxation Lounge Open: In operation from Saturday, April 27, 2024 Name: Post-Bath Relaxation Lounge (Relaxing lounge) Hours: 7:00–23:00 Location: Main building, 2nd floor, just before the hot spring area Soun Size: 187 m² Facilities: Reclining chairs / Single sofas / Lounge chairs / Tatami benches Two massage chairs (paid) / Vending machines (paid) / Hot tea and chilled water servers (free)

Hakone Yunohana Prince Hotel: Expressing Gratitude to the Mountain Deity ~Bamboo Lights Gleam~ Yamagami no Komichi (The Mountain Deity’s Path) “Bamboo Light Installation” Begins This spring, Hakone Yunohana Prince Hotel has launched a “bamboo light installation,” creating a stunning spectacle of otherworldly light. To the west of the hotel rises Mt. Komagatake, at 1,356 meters, revered as a sacred mountain where the gods dwell and long considered a holy site of ancient mountain worship. At the summit of Mt. Komagatake you can still find historically evocative rocks such as Bakouseki (Horse-Descending Stone) and Bajouseki (Horse-Riding Stone). The hotel benefits from the mountain’s gifts, including geothermal steam and spring water. Our ability to operate today owes much to the mountain deity, yamagami, and in gratitude we have installed a torii gate lit by bamboo lights. □ Period: From Friday, March 15, 2024 – Year-round □ Time: From sunset until 0:00 midnight □ Location: Hakone Yunohana Prince Hotel, hotel courtyard □ Eligible: Hotel guests only (free) □ Details: Centered on a torii of bamboo lights, this soothing experience enhances the natural scenery. □ Note: Hakone Yunohana Prince Hotel is a secluded mountain lodge surrounded by vast nature and boasts the highest elevation for accommodations in Hakone (935 m). In the hotel courtyard framed by lush mountains, guests can enjoy cherry blossoms in spring, fresh green foliage in summer, autumn colors in fall, and snowy vistas in winter. To further enhance the hotel’s iconic courtyard scenery, we will present a bamboo light illumination produced by CHIKAKEN, a comprehensive bamboo-light production group.

[Fujiya Hotel] Limited-time sale until Thursday, February 29: “Petite Pomme” and “Hakone Anzan Ensemble”! Fujiya Hotel has launched a limited-time sale of two collaborative items—“Petite Pomme” and “Hakone Anzan Ensemble”—created with students from Kanrei Shirayuri Gakuen High School, at the Bakery & Sweets Picot. The sale runs from Saturday, January 27, 2024, through Thursday, February 29, 2024. Supporting the school’s PBL (Project Based Learning) program, this collaboration came together through shared commitment to the initiative. Under the theme “Develop a new specialty to turn Gen Z into repeat visitors,” students and the hotel’s bakery chefs held repeated discussions. From the first meeting, it took about six months to reach the product launch. Prototype items were sold at the school festival, and, based on questionnaire feedback, the products were further refined. The students’ opinions guided improvements to the recipe, pricing, and promotional methods, shaping the final commercial breads. Please enjoy these items born from a collaboration between students with fresh, next-generation sensibilities and the reliably developed flavors Fujiya Hotel has refined over many years. [Sales location] Fujiya Hotel Bakery & Sweets Picot [Sales period] Limited time only: Saturday, January 27, 2024–Thursday, February 29, 2024 [Hours] 9:00–17:00

Hakone Ekiden Museum A display of the Hakone yosegi marquetry trophies awarded to the winners of the outbound race is now on view! Since 1997, with the cooperation of the outbound winners from the 73rd race onward, the Hakone Ekiden Museum has exhibited the Tokyo-Hakone University Ekiden outbound victory trophies in the museum’s special exhibition space through Sunday, March 31, 2024. This year marked the 100th anniversary of the Hakone Ekiden, and both the outbound and return legs drew loud cheers from along the course. The runners’ determined efforts to win left a powerful impression. The outbound victory trophies are crafted in Hakone yosegi marquetry, a traditional Hakone craft. Artisans combine woods of different colors to create patterns, so no two pieces are identical. Each trophy is therefore a one-of-a-kind championship cup in the world. Please come and see up close the valuable Hakone yosegi trophies provided for this special exhibition by three schools: Kanagawa University, Toyo University, and Soka University, each representing the races they won. The park also features a tropical plant greenhouse, a tea house, and hands-on craft workshops, letting visitors enjoy a variety of experiences in one place. ■ Isshikido Saro At our restaurant we use carefully selected ingredients such as high-quality free-range eggs and meats from a long-established butcher, crafting each sandwich by hand as a satisfying single-dish sandwich cuisine.
