In this post, we will introduce recommended sightseeing spots when visiting Kawazu Town at the Kawazu Cherry Blossom Festival! This time, we will introduce "Amagisan Tunnel former Amagi Tunnel, Amagi Sanzuido". Mt. Amagi, which separates the north and south of the Izu Peninsula, was a major obstacle to transportation. Therefore, a total construction cost of 103,016 yen 44 sen 1 厎 was spent, which was a large amount at that time, and it was opened in Meiji 38 1905 as a tunnel connecting Izu City former Amagi Yugashima Town and Kawazu Town. With the completion of this tunnel, the difficult point of crossing Amagi has been resolved.
