COOL JAPAN VIDEOS Photo Contest PR
Dec. 1, 2022
Introducing the photos posted on "Everyone's Post"! This is a pickup post of the inbound tourism information SNS "Cool Japan Video". Today, I would like to introduce "Hitoshi Matsubuchi's post "Yokote kamakura" in Yokote City, Akita Prefecture". The beautiful pillow and the scenery of the snow sparkling are fantastic. The Yokote Snow Festival (Yokote no Yuki Matsuri) held in Yokote City, Akita Prefecture in the Tohoku region is held every February as a small New Year event dedicated to the god of water. One of the most popular events in the festival is the Yokote Kamakura. About 100 kamakura with a height of about 3 meters will be made throughout the city. In addition to large kamakura made by craftsmen, there are also mini kamakura made by local elementary school students. Also, in the kamakura, children serve amazake and mochi. It is a traditional festival full of snow country atmosphere that is said to have a history of more than 450 years. In 2023, it is scheduled to be held on February 15 and 16. In order to hold some of the festivals with a reduced number of contents, please check the official website for details. Around Yokote City, there are plenty of hot spring inns such as "Akimiya Hot Spring Village". In conjunction with the festival, why not plan a trip where you can enjoy the nature and taste of Akita Prefecture? ◆Yokote Snow Festival◆ 【Access】 10-minute walk from JR Ou Main Line Yokote Station Free kamakura venue shuttle bus available (17:40~21:00)

It is "Yokote kamakura" in Yokote City, Akita Prefecture. "Kamakura" is a small New Year's event dedicated to the god of water, and children among the kamakura shout "Enter! They talk to tourists and treat them with mochi and amazake.
This photo is from the "Kamakura" photo session venue, but the best position was super full and I regretted being late, but if I dared to take it from a position where no one was looking, I was able to take a really nice photo and I was very satisfied with the "Kamakura" photo.

I went to Kakunodate, Akita last April this year. I was looking forward for the Sakura trees but I went there a bit too early. Although I couldn't see the full bloom of Sakura flowers, I still had a good time here. Kakunodate is also known as the "little kyoto" of northeastern Japan. Like Kyoto, it also has beautiful nature, good food, and delicious desserts. I even met an adorable Akita dog named Bukemaru. He is popular in that place, and I want to visit him again.

A photo I took of Tatsuko, the golden lady of the lake at Lake Tazawa in Semboku, Akita 4 years ago. I really love everything about Akita, there's so much natural beauty in the area, especially around this lake. I'd like to go back during the summer (this was taken in early fall) and try some kayaking on the lake. I'd also like to go cycling around the lake if possible, it'd be some good exercise at the very least. Anyways, for those unfamiliar with the legend of Tatsuko, from my understanding, she was a girl who wished for eternal beauty but was turned into a dragon, and so she drowned herself in the lake. It sounds kind of dark, but apparently she and another dragon fell in love with one another and together they keep the lake from freezing during winter. Considering how cold it gets during winter in Akita, or at least that year in Akita, that's a pretty impressive feat!

Wow, what a breathtaking view. It really does look just like a mirror, it's incredible how perfect the reflection is. I really love the green as well, it's such a brilliant shade it really gives you the feeling of the rich, verdant countryside. I've had a love of rice fields since before I can remember, just because they look so beautiful and you can really appreciate the technology of humankind through them. I've never seen the rice fields in Kyoto to be honest, only the temples and shrines, which isn't exactly unfortunate, but I would really like to get out into the countryside as well. This reminds me so much of Akita as well and I only have fond memories of my time there. Going to have to throw the rice fields of Kyoto on my list for my next visit. On a bit of a tangent, it's pretty amazing you can take photos like this on cell phones now. Incredible how far we've come.

This is one photo taken in Ohara, Kyoto. The scenery of the rice fields in the countryside reflecting the scenery and sky like a mirror is superb. I would like people from overseas to enjoy the beauty of this scenery.
I used an iPhone 11 Pro for the shooting.

Looking forward to seeing the fireworks this summer, I've been to Omagari in the past and it was really amazing. I know there's tons of places in Japan where there are amazing fireworks as well since Japan has a really long history of fireworks, so hopefully it's possible to see them now that vaccinations are starting to roll out. The whole coronavirus situation has been a bummer for a lot of people and fireworks are sort of like a reminder of all the beauty that the world holds and they help bring people together. I'd love to go out and see Omagari again personally as it was easily one of the most amazing displays I've seen. It was great getting to bring a picnic blanket and everything and just sit under the stars until it started too

Aomori, Akita Lake Towada and the Hakkoda mountain range From the Hagitoge Observatory on the Akita Prefecture side, this is a view of Lake Towada and the Hakkoda mountain range in Aomori Prefecture. Cherry blossoms are in full bloom here and there, or petals are scattered, but the area around Lake Towada is still early spring. The snow on the shoulder of the road is drifting cold air. On a sunny day, the blue sky and the blue surface of the lake made the whiteness of the remaining snow of the peaks of Mt. Hakkoda vivid.

Hachirogata Lagoon's "Cherry Blossom and Rape Blossom Road" Hachirogata was reborn as a 17,239-hectare "Land of Hope" in March 1977 after more than 20 years of reclamation work with the aim of alleviating food shortages after World War II. In 1984, to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the village's founding, the villagers planted 3,000 cherry trees in three years, and 1,000 cherry trees in commemoration of the 50th anniversary. Rape blossoms were planted by local volunteers. "Thanks" for the masterpiece of Somei Yoshino, Yaezakura, Beniyama cherry blossoms and rape blossom road that stretches for about 11 km! !!

Awesome! The samurai residences of Kakunodate were awesome when I went there. The cherry blossoms were really amazing as well. Along the river and all along the houses. I remember I talked to one of the local shopkeepers here for a minute and it was really nice. There's supposed to be castle ruins somewhere near the town as well but I didn't get a chance to see them. This is a great place to visit in the spring for anyone curious. I highly recommend checking it out. Be careful of the big green spiders though, lol. I think they're probably harmless but they are quite surprising...

What a cute photo! I remember when I went to Akita, I don't remember the name of the flower park I'd have to look it up, but they had a small rabbit enclosure there and it was really neat getting to see them just hopping around munching on carrots and stuff. The place had some really good ice cream as well so that was a big plus. Speaking of ice cream, I just remembered the babahera ice that I had in Akita. That stuff was really good as well. It was like a sort of sherbet I think, but apparently it's only sold by old ladies which is how it got its name. I guess that's an interesting fact that I have to share today. If you're ever in Akita be sure to keep an eye out for it. I think I tried it somewhere around Lake Tazawa

Really been loving the snowscapes on here recently. Never got the chance to visit Nyuto Onsen when I was in Akita but I had some friends who went and they all said it was amazing. I can imagine how nice some warm hot springs would be in the middle of a heavy winter like this too lol. Planning on visiting Akita when I get the chance again (probably going to be a while) so I'll have to stop by for a dip if I get the chance. The thing I really loved about Akita was seeing all of the natural landscapes. All the rice paddies and natural greenery was really something else. I remember when I went to Kakunodate and saw the samurai houses there was a small mountain with some castle ruins on top and it had a really good view of the area from the top. It was also spring when I went so I got to see the cherry blossoms on the river bank which were incredible too... overall great place
