Under clear skies after the rainy season, we cycled while taking in views of the Alps and the Tenryu River. After arriving at the orchard, we went peach picking. They enjoyed harvesting the most popular variety, Akatsuki. After cycling, we moved to the cafe for peach desserts! Everyone fully enjoyed the cycling and peach picking, which made us happy too. Mibusawa Fudo Falls A beautiful waterfall with a drop of about 17 meters that plunges in a straight line. Revered as sacred water since ancient times, it has long served as a place for ascetic training and ritual purification. The Fudo Myoo statue standing to the left of the falls is said to have been invited from Naritasan in Shimousa Province in Kyōhō 18 (1733). Along with the waterfall, it drew the devotion of many people, and festivals once attracted large numbers of worshippers from nearby villages. A rainmaking legend is also associated with the site. The two stone Buddhist figures standing in front of the Fudo Myoo statue are Kongara Doji (left) and Seitaka Doji (right). They were erected in Shōwa 9 (1934) to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the statue’s enshrinement. At the same time, a silkworm-dedication deity (Kintama-hime), a stone monument inscribed with a poem by Matsuo Taseko, and a commemorative monument engraved by Chizan Kitahara were also installed. 【Botamochi Stone】 Because the shape of the stone is round and looks like a "botamochi", It is called "botamochi stone" or "botamochi masonry". "Botamochi stone" is a stone wall in which large round stones are stacked, and round stones are processed and stacked so that there are no gaps. It can also be seen in the Omi region, but it is rarely seen in other areas. The time and effort required to process it is enormous, and it takes more time and money than ordinary masonry. It is said that it took several days to stack one stone so that the outer surface was flat while processing the adhesive surface of the adjacent stones. It is said that the stonemasons in this region called it "totting" to fit the stone perfectly, and it was also said that "one stone should be attached to it a day."
