Nishiokopper Live December 25, Christmas night. One after another, cars began to stop in front of Guesthouse GA.KOPPER. In the dining room that served as the venue, decorations sparkled. The windows filled with visitors’ drawings and messages added their own charm. While watching a performance by "Nishiokopper," people relaxed and enjoyed food and drinks that night. We saw many sides of Nishiokopper: instrumentals and songs with dance, a video presentation, and a reading accompanied by koto as background music. The pumpkin parfait I ate after my turn was very delicious. I’m patiently waiting for the day Nishiokopper gathers again.

At the Mashu–Shibecha–Tsurui Promotion Board, we ran a 3-day, 2-night monitoring tour for international students from Taiwan, Hong Kong, and China attending Japanese language schools, showcasing the winter natural beauty and gastronomy of Eastern Hokkaido. I accompanied the group in Teshikaga from the afternoon of the second day through the final day 😊 For lunch we went to Marukibune, where you can enjoy Ainu cuisine, and had a venison rice bowl called “Yasei-don.” We then visited Retara Chip on the shore of Lake Kussharo for souvenirs and swan spotting, followed by popular spots including Lake Mashu Kamuy Terrace and Mount Io MOKMOK Base ✌️ That night we stayed at Oyado Kinkiyu, with the buffet served in a separate building, Honeysuckle♪ Guests enjoyed dishes made with local ingredients and an all-you-can-eat feast of large crab—did they enjoy the crab? 🦀 Afterward we joined a nighttime tour of the hot spring river and learned about Kawayu Onsen♨️ How was the onsen at the ryokan afterward?? 😊 On the final day, after breakfast, we tried a headwater canoe experience guided by Matatabi, the canoe operator🛶 Wearing dry suits, we played by the riverbanks and in the snow, and everyone’s smiles and energy lifted our spirits 😆 Later we took the train from mashu station, ate boxed lunches from the local-ingredient-focused diner and coffee shop Poppotei, and headed to Kushiro Station 🚃𓈒𓂂𓏸 I hope this trip became an unforgettable experience for everyone 🙏 I, Aoki, also learned a great deal ✨ Thank you very much.

I painted pictures on Kamu’s windows! Inside the Roadside Station Kamu there are many large windows. Not blank white, but a transparent canvas— children from the village drew Christmas-themed pictures for us! Some kids picked crayon colors while looking at sample drawings. Some boldly dragged crayons across the glass to create big works. Some drew characters together with friends sitting beside them. At their own pace, each child enjoyed drawing on the windows in their own way. The display runs through Monday, December 25. Some windows were even painted by adults with great design sense, so come by to soak up the Christmas atmosphere.

'Eagle Watching Premium Tour' I joined a winter-only tour held at the Tokachi Nature Center! In light snow we traveled along the quiet Tokachi River while a guide from the Wild Bird Society explained what we were seeing. Besides Steller's sea eagles and white-tailed eagles, we spotted many other birds such as long-tailed tits, swans, and goosanders! Using binoculars and a spotting scope, we could clearly make out their features, which was truly moving ✨ Other participants brought cool, bazooka-like lenses for their cameras 😎 It was a highly satisfying 45 minutes.
