【Window Art at Kamu】 The windows of Kamu are beautifully decorated! Using crayons that can be drawn on the window and wiped off with a wet cloth, visitors to Kamu were invited to draw again this year🖍 This time, we set a somewhat abstract theme of "Flowers and Songs." That said, the children freely draw their favorite vehicles and game characters. No matter what kind of drawings they create, when the windows are filled with art, it feels like the roadside station comes alive, bringing a smile to our faces. The windows along the corridor leading from the restroom to the hall are adorned with drawings from children and adults who visited on the first day of the market. On the Flower Park side of the hall, where the mechanical organ plays, there are wonderful paintings by local volunteers lined up. Five artists each expressed the theme in their own unique ways, and I hope many people will come to see the five painted windows together. The exhibition is scheduled to run until mid-July. This is the Umbrella Sky (Sakura) at Tokachi Hills in Makubetsu, Hokkaido. It is held every June, but this year it started in May. A few days ago, there was a day of strong winds that caused damage, leading to its closure. Although repairs have been made since then, full recovery seems difficult. From June, the colors of the umbrellas will change significantly.

Noite de Gran Chi A house standing across from GA.KOPPER guesthouse. It’s a small café named "Gran Chi." We held a live performance at this favorite place, where I often came for event meetings, dinner with acquaintances, and sometimes to practice piano. Inside the warm room with a wood stove, it was a night filled with music and voices. Trombone and guitar performances. Poetry readings. Band performances. With a break for roll cake time, there was also guitar singing. Though it was less than two hours long, the smiles and applause from the audience, and the laughter of the café owner and the sound engineer, were all delightful moments. What can we do next in this place? Even though the live just ended, I feel a bit restless.

It's May 5th at Taiyo-no-Oka Engaru Park, known for its Shibazakura Park. The snow from last night has melted by the morning, and the temperature is rising, accelerating the blooming process. The 'Shibazakura' at the top of the hill is nearly in full bloom, while the lower part is about 70-80% bloomed. From the top of the mountain The winding path has become passable as the snow melts. Driving up the unpaved mountain road reveals an open view waiting ahead. In winter, I climbed with my grandfather, and together with a cameraman who was there for filming, we gaze at the distant mountains while feeling the wind. My grandfather was being interviewed, holding a can of coffee in one hand. In between, he was also puffing on a cigarette. Sitting on a stump, he said that staring blankly at the scenery in front of him clears his mind. As I listened to his stories, I thought it would be a nice place to bring a sandwich and read a book. My grandfather, who worked in the mountains, always shows me various landscapes. Starting today, April 28th (Tuesday), a new souvenir from Taiki Town, "Sora Tobu Tigre - A Journey Through the Scents of Taiki Town," is now available at Cosmall Taiki! This souvenir was jointly developed by the local revitalization team of Taiki Town and the French patisserie ami poire. 【Fluffy Hydrangea Wreath】 Wednesday, April 15th The first dry flower workshop of the year was held🪷 Nishiokoppe Village is also being wrapped in the warmth of spring. Surrounded by many flowers, some participants began to feel a sense of excitement as gardening and fieldwork are finally starting. This time, we made wreaths using dried hydrangeas as the base, decorating them with other flowers and fruits. The process of creating parts and attaching them is common in such floral arrangements. Regular attendees quickly formed hydrangea rings, decorated them skillfully, and chatted lively while working. While I struggled to create the hydrangea base, a reliable and experienced neighbor helped me with the parts, making the workshop enjoyable, including those interactions. Thanks to the combinations of hydrangeas and the materials chosen for decoration, each piece was filled with individual touches!
