【Fan Terraced Rice Fields】

Ogi Terraced Rice Fields have been selected as one of the 100 best rice terraces in Japan and one of the 100 best Rice growers. It is made by clearing the eroded land in the mountains, and is made in a contour shape by taking advantage of the fan-shaped terrain. Fascination by the scenery of the 16 rice terraces and 3 Japanese cedars attracts many photographers.

* The surrounding area is private land and cattle are grazing. The road is narrow and there is no Car parking space, so please observe manners when visiting or taking pictures.

Today in Gokase the sky is overcast☁️ and it’s been raining and snowing since morning, so it’s still cold🥶

By the way, Gokase Highland Ski Resort finally opened the Paradise Course for a 1,000 m run the other day⛷️✨

“Kitagawa Onsen Moon Road”
Kitagawa Onsen Moon Road was selected as one of Japan’s One Hundred Famous Moon Views as a moon to be treasured for generations. For three days around the full moon, on nights when the moon shines especially bright, a lunar path—the Moon Road—appears as moonlight paints a path across the sea. This scene is unique to Higashiizu, where the town’s entire east coast faces the ocean. On the night of the full moon many visitors come with cameras to capture the view.
Experience a mysterious moment long spoken of in local legend: “If you pray on the Moon Road under a shining moon, your wish will come true…” Come and see it for yourself.

At Izu Kitagawa Onsen, a representative spot for viewing the Moon Road, the “Nekosai Day” event is held on every full moon. “Nekosai” refers to a fixed-net fishery, and Nekosai Day offers prayers for the safety and big catches of fixed-net fishermen, with free charcoal-grilled fish served to visitors. Enjoy this full-moon hospitality in Izu Kitagawa, Higashiizu. (In 2025, Nekosai Day begins on the full moon of February 12.)

Seven Miles of Snow Coverage

I like it.

It is the only sea route on the Tokaido Highway that connects Miya inn and Mulberry inn, and it is said that it was so named because the distance was 7 miles (27.5 km).

Kuwana City, Mie Prefecture "Seven Villages"

Today, Sunday, January 12, the 40th Donton-yaki festival was held at Atami Sun Beach.
This annual event is a long-standing tradition jointly organized by the ten neighborhood associations of the eastern and central districts.
This year too, residents and tourists gathered to circle the piled New Year decorations called an ‘onbe’.
At 11:00 a Shinto ceremony was performed by Chief Priest Amemiya of Kinomiya Shrine, and after the ritual the priest lit the fire. The ‘onbe’ blazed up vigorously as everyone prayed for health, academic success, prosperous business, and protection from fires.
The photos look a bit dark, but it was actually sunny!
Tourists who happened to pass by also stopped to watch this traditional New Year event.

Gokase Highland Ski Resort

I climbed up to Gokase Highland Ski Resort today to shoot some material📸❄️

At 7:00 this morning the temperature was a whopping -14°C🤣 It was such an odd kind of cold that it made me laugh🤷‍♀️ lol

That said, the slopes were in perfect condition ⛷️✨ The wind was light and the snow was powdery and dry 🤩

Local junior high students were here today as part of their school activities, and they were happily enjoying skiing and snowboarding 🥰

The view of the ski area under the blue sky is truly beautiful 🥹✨ It feels like another world, and staring at it makes you feel drawn in…😳

You can see the distant mountains stretching far away, and the view from Gokase Highland Ski Resort is exceptional 👏❗

Tomorrow, Saturday, January 11th, at 10:00 the long-awaited Paradise Course 1,000 m run finally opens 🤩 Can’t wait 💪

When you come to Fukui Prefecture, the dish you want to eat is Soba noodles.
In February 2021, the online media "Netorabo" conducted a "prefecture ranking where Soba (buckwheat noodles) is delicious", and Fukui Prefecture was by far the first place.

This time, we would like to introduce two Soba noodles restaurants in Echizen Town where you can eat delicious Soba noodles.

Since it was cold, I received a warm "warm walnut".

I thought it would be sweeter, but it was easy to eat.

I received a limited quantity of "Jumbo shrimp ten grated daikon soba"
Because it is called jumbo, it is too big to fit in a bowl of Soba noodles.
The batter is crispy and this alone is very satisfying.
Soba noodles are also firm and aroma.
Both zaru Soba (buckwheat noodles) and warm Soba noodles are really delicious.

"Shrimp Tempura Egg Toji Soba (Buckwheat Noodles)" is also full of volume. The shrimp heaven is also large and there are plenty of eggs.
In addition, the Soba (buckwheat noodles) menu is very substantial.
All of them seem and be satisfying.

There are many small size Soba noodles for children and side menus, so it is a restaurant that you want to come to with your family and friends.

I also tried the staff's recommended "cold guy with sesame seeds".
It is as soft as regular tofu and has a lot of sesame seeds in it, which is very flavorful. The children were flattened in no time.

Tsukigase Plum Valley lets you take in at a glance the plum blossoms and the gorge, with the plum seen as the harbinger of spring.
Designated a Place of Scenic Beauty in 2020 and now marking 100 years, the Tsukigase Tourism Association, together with local residents, works to preserve this wonderful plum gorge so everyone can enjoy it.

The “Tsukigase Plum Valley Plum Festival,” starting on February 9, opens with the 40th Tsukigase Plum Valley Early Spring Marathon on its first day and runs through a variety of events up to the Spring Banquet on March 23, with preparations underway to welcome everyone.
